I feel this game is demanding more from cpu than gpu. I have an old Q6600 but somewhat new HD6970. Game runs around 35-55, 'medium' textures, rest of them at 'low', v-sync and glow-effects enabled, low motion blur and fullscreen1080-resolution.
I'm happy with the latency improvements and the 'snappier' feel this game has now. Especially with ballistics. Last year I had about 160-180ping, now it is around 120. Last year I didn't have much chance at aiming AutoCannons or GG's because the latency, between command and the actual shot happening, was random. Now I can really trust my (in)accurate aiming skills.
My location is Finland.

And I don't live in Australia. I'm an hour from Toronto.

It did not change at thing, the same seems to suffer horrible FPS drops in the mech bay and during online matches.. Everything runs perfectly well in training grounds.
Whether there are specific points in the game when your performance changes.
During online drops and matches, the game's FPS drops dramatically, even in the lowest settings. Usually it happens when there is a lot of CPU processing like plenty of players shooting on the maps or plenty of particles, objects and events occurring at the same time during a drop.
What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch?
Between Low and Medium.. I am playing with low settings now but it doesn't really make a massive difference.

I personally use my laptop, which is not the ideal platform for such a game but I did take notes down recently and noticed that my FPS fluctuates on average between the below digits, according to the following game modes/settings on a 1024x768 resolution:
- Training Grounds (Low settings, Terra Therma, 60-41 FPS)
- Training Grounds (Medium settings, Terra Therma, 50-28 FPS)
- Actual Match/ Drop (Low settings, Forest Colony Snow, 28-12 FPS)
- Actual Match/ Drop (Medium settings, Terra Therma, 31-15 FPS)
- Mech Lab (Low settings, 34-14 FPS)
- Mech Lab (Medium settings, 25-20 FPS)
System specs
Intel Core i5, 2.53 Ghz
4 GB Ram
ATi Mobility Radeon HD5730, 2 GB
Windows 7 64 bit
Your advertised internet connection speed / Geographic location
1Mbps, Dubai, UAE

Same for me. Every game at least one situation where all movement freezes (everyone is just moonwalking in place) and suddenly - after about 10 seconds - I get teleported back into the game, being dead of course. Really really getting on my nerves! Its like that for at least 2 weeks now.
3.5Mbps - Germany
EDIT: Today, September 1st, its totally unplayable. Just warping around and freezing.
