HAHAHA... You people and your complaining! All the while, continuing to buy champion and hero mechs, continuing to drop money on MC, continuing to spend MC on consumables, buying the phoenix stuff....

Everyone whines and complains while PGI rakes in the moolah each new variant release...

Seems harsh huh? Well, until everyone stops supporting PGI's habit with money, this will continue to be the status-quo for PGI to operate.

I cannot believe that most of you are still that dense. I enjoy playing the game, and will continue to play, but PGI gets no more money from ME personally. I will play their "Free to play" game for free. 3pv is possibly the worst thing that they have done to date, coupled with the fact that we have no choice to use it or not, we have to use it or die from stupidity in the game.

So 3pv+All Streaks+PPC = Winning mech! So put that in your mech and pilot it!

At least Bryan's son can play MWO now. Does he pay your bills, Bryan? After all I won't until you remove this crappy 3pv design.

And splitting the playerbase will cost us dearly when two queues are implemented...

Hello,

Easy to understand wy there is still no 1th person only option. If the option was already there ppl would chose that option and there will be no further feedback on the 3th person view. Understandable.
Once enough feedback ( both positive and negative ) is received the "hardcore" game mode should be avaible i gues..

Please give some constructive feedback ppl.

my findings on the 3th person so far.

-very hard to aim. especialy when changing from a close object to a object further away.
-Useless when other mechs are close. u can not aim precice enough and not camera to slow. . try hitting a light mech circeling you.

)

Constructive feedback: Don't keep lying to your playerbase, don't keep saying one thing and do another, and think before you put things into the game. Right now, those are the things that would most improve the game.

to all the people sayin 3pv is an advantage, have you tried it?? its a pain in the *** u constantly auto aim on teammates u can have retical on a mech and not get a lock on for missles or it jumps to a teammate when they inter your FOV.the only thing 3pv helps me with is FPS i recieve a slight jump in frame rates

Yes, I've tried it. I played my Atlas DDC and I was on Frozen City twice. Both times I was able to use my 3rd person viewpoint to 'peek' over and see where people were placed and where they were lined up and then I moved to a different area, flanked them, gaining a clear tactical advantage because they were playing in 1st person mode. In both games, our team using communication and chat, we had a clear tactical advantage because they played in 1st mode we could peek around areas seeing where they were gathered or locate a target. The 2nd game, my team took heavy on LRM's and one person was able to 'peek' over the ridge and spot targets.

Again, if you know how to abuse the 3rd person viewpoint, you could avoid looking around corners and see if people had a line of fire waiting for you as you stepped out by moving your arm locked and change the FOV so you could gain an advantage. It's clearly biased. And as such I most likely will not be playing until there is only an ALL 1st person VIEW/ HARDCORE mode set up.

For maneuvering it's worse than 1pv, for gathering information it's better. Now what was the purpose of this crab again?

1 game.
1 f***king game.
Ridge humping 4xPPC stalkers using 3PV to spot you, bump up, alpha you.

No flanking, no pushes, nothing, they can see you all the time unless you do the same thing.
Frankly, I didn't think you guys could make many more terrible balance decisions, and lets face it, there's been a bucketful, but this, this has me about > < this far from uninstalling right now. And I've only had one game.

You implement 3PV on the basis of 'all these new players struggling with navigation and mech control', and that it wouldn't give an advantage, and then you manage to make it worse for navigation and mech control, but fantastic for ridge humping.
Seriously, you couldn't make this **** up.

How hard would it have been to actually implement separate ques the way they said they would? Or delay 3pv until that part was ready? Or spend their development resources on CW instead of an unbalanced gimmick?

Honestly? Because it would take a player base that seems to be shrinking and fragment it into two separate groups. Which then increases drop time or makes their horrific matchmaking even worse.

This appears to be what is known as the "Circling the drain phase". They've hit a point where they can't fix it.

I feel sorry for the actual programmers, but considering the general quality of their management it looks to be pretty inevitable.

Terrible. Utterly fails at it's stated goal of helping new players and introduces multiple exploitative behaviors.

- Does NOT significantly aid in seeing your legs. The only mechs that you can see the legs are certain lights and 1 or 2 squat mechs.
- The armlock and HUD removal is crippling. Because of this, 3PV players are significantly disadvantaged in combat. This will CERTAINLY scare away new players as they get destroyed by 1PV players. This is almost as bad as the difference between keyboard+mouse and controller in a first person shooter. The removal of the minimap (for no good reason as a clumsy balancer) drastically reduces tactical situational awareness.
- Veteran players are abusing it. They are quick-toggling to it to see over hills and peek around corners. This allows them to clearly see the enemy and see mech types, movement, and sometimes even loadout without ANY risk of being shot. They then immediately toggle back into 1PV for fighting. I am seeing veteran players constantly switching back and forth between modes, and getting the advantages of both without the disadvantages of either.

SOLUTIONS:
- Force the player to choose a view mode in the options menu outside of a match. Do not allow players to change view mode in-game. This removes the need for any separate queues, because when you can no longer quickly switch between them, the disadvantages of 3PV actually make themselves felt. (Problem: no one will ever use 3PV 'cause it kinda sucks if you're stuck with it the whole match)
- Create a LONG delay when switching modes, like 15 seconds before you can change again. This reduces, but does not eliminate, the toggle abusing, but requires more thought as to when to switch modes. Might still require a queue.

Why is there no queue for only first person players?

I do not want 3rd person. I do not want the people in the matches I'm in to be able to use it.

PDI advised we would not be forced into playing with people using 3PV. The constant dishonesty to your playerbase is shameful.

They're probably forcing everyone to play in a single queue to alleviate concerns that 3pv will give an advantage over 1pv. FOV is increased, yes, but no minimap, reveals your position (you end up giving way more tactical data to the enemy than you could potentially receive by peaking), locked reticles, etc.

That's probably why the Hardcore buttons are listed, but grayed out. Make everybody play for a while so the people who are dismissing it out of hand without trying it won't just go to Hardcore and stay there.

Whether or not that was a good strategy and they've successfully made 3pv/1pv balanced is up for debate. (I personally haven't played yet since I'm at work.)

Thanks for implementing cheat mode! I tried to aim at a cidada's head in 3pv and it automatically readjusted my aim to its legs! AND automatically increased dpi! No need to aim anymore for me, the game lets me know where to fire. (edit: perhaps a function of the altered focal plane, rather than a snap-to-target? will have to do more testing to figure it out for myself as I don't believe anything you say anymore) Now I don't need to spend all that extra money on the Phoenix Project mechs! Oh, and thanks for changing all of my weapon groupings; I obviously didn't know what I was doing, and you saved me the trouble of never figuring that out!

Separate queue was never actually going to happen. Now with the release of 3pv, greyed-out "hardcore" mode is a nice, easy way to keep a few people who'd otherwise quit still playing. When UI2.0 comes out, there will be no mentions of any hardcore mode and PGI will pretend it never existed.

Not only is it a bad system, but it's poorly implemented. It should require space and tonnage, and should be destroyable. Should be tactical or scouting equipment, but instead it's just an advantage for high-alpha builds.

Additionally, disabling 3PV should be instant, as it's not the pilot in the aerial drone, and can simply stop looking at the drone feed while it re-mounts the mech.

It has tactical benefits, but is largely unwanted, and is a huge waste of effort that could have gone into actually improving the game.

Loaded up the game, turned off 3pv. Went to the testing grounds and switched 3pv on to see the difference. Huge improvement in how much you see of the map and your surroundings. Unclear how much an improvement there would be in an actual firefight - but being able to see around corners and not walking into an ambush is clearly valuable.

I find it nauseating that PGI decided to shaft the community by wasting resources on 3pv. I find it nauseating that (at least for now) 3pv and 1pv is not separated. I am saddened that switching between 3pv and 1pv gives clear gaming advantages, though I will just take the hit in w/l rather than stoop to the 3pv level.

And no, I don't think all the nausea is down to motion sickness. Rather getting a little tired of PGI deceiving its players.

TL,DR?
3pv sucks. PGI sucks for wasting resources implementing it.

/Michael Scott NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO to 3rd person view. I thought this was going to be it's own separate bracket but when available to PUGs... why not just throw this game on consoles and admit to the rest of your community this game is only about the money.

I was hoping it would show more of the mech, including the legs, not just the torso.

Kind of ruins the hope that new players can actually SEE their legs and torso facing different directions.
