On 3PV the feature -
Worst of both worlds. In its current implementation it's got no use for piloting, poor leg view. The only function it has is peeking around corners and over hills and damaging overall balance as well as crushing what few tactical elements remained in the game.
If you feel the casual gamers will invest in MWO to the same degree if not more so than the hardcore gamers who've literally donated all the money you've gotten up to this point (donated, by the way, with the promise of 1st person only, until you reneged on that and at least separate queues) then just put it in all the way. Just fully functional 3PV with HUD, maps and no goofy UAV. Just do it, pull the trigger and see where the game goes. This current implementation seems custom designed to make as few people happy as possible. You've added 3PV which gives the superior FOV, spy around corners and over hills experience while making it inferior for fighting but you can just switch between them so to play now I have to either play at a huge disadvantage or pop back and forth with 3PV for wallhacks view and 1PV for shooting.
Just put 3PV in. Pull the trigger, thank everyone who's donated money so far and point them to the door and explain now that you've got their money you need someone elses money. It's a business and you need to get paid. I get that in a lot of ways. A lot of businesses make that mistake, the grass is greener on the other side sort of thing, this idea that if you just do THIS then you'll get all these other people waiting in the wings with credit cards in hand but the current 3PV is only going to do one thing - absolutely **** off anyone who does want the 3PV experience. It's not a newbie tool it's a new exploit for experienced players.
The fundamental truth though is that you lied to us. Bald faced and direct. I'm not sure at this point if you're just lying to your consumers or if you're lying to yourselves but you did, in fact, absolutely lie.

Here are the facts.- Yes we are currently working on a 3rd person option for MWO.
- There is no ETA for when 3rd person will be available.
- Players will never be forced to use or play against other players using 3rd person.
Why add 3rd person?- Reduces friction for non-MechWarrior players, non-core players, and expands the MWO market to a broader audience. It helps to make the game more accessible and less intimidating.
- Offers up a different style of gameplay and tactics.
You will have the following options as a player:- Play against 1st and 3rd person players.
- Play against 3rd person players only.
- Play against 1st person players only.
- Players can set their preference in the options menu, or during the launch phase before matchmaking.
I love the bit where Bryan starts with 'Here are the facts'. Oh really? I don't think that word means what you think it means.
You lie to me and then want my money? I'm just... blown away at the moment.
I'll be honest - I don't care about the feature at this point. Balance issues come and go, that's the nature of games and I get that. I can be patient about that. Integrity though or a lack of it, that's not something that has any right to expect to be forgiven by your consumers. You sell someone a product based on promises and then do the opposite, what results do you expect from that?
This isn't personal in that regard - I don't know you guys, I don't know who you are as people. I don't know what you're thinking or feeling. I can only judge you by what you do.
What you've done however is lie. How do you expect us to respond to that? 'LOL, ah well, you lied to me, here's my credit card info.'
That lacks integrity and prevents any confidence building. The other balancing stuff in the patch seems great - except for that part where you lied.
I get that this response is harsh. I'd like to think that historically I've always tried to be fair and reasonable. I've done my fair share of white knighting. I've worked in the industry and I absolutely get that change is the biggest constant and sometimes promises outreach technical ability.
This though was a lie. There was a meeting, or an e-mail discussion, or a conference call, or several of the above where the decision was made to do the opposite of what you said you'd do and just not mention it. Did anyone even say 'maybe nobody will notice'? Did it get a laugh? Would it have? Should it have?
Again, integrity isn't about who you are but what you do. How you act relative to what you say. This act absolutely lacks integrity. How are we supposed to judge that?
