If this gameplay style works out, and they last to the 3077 years during the jihad, they may indeed at stealth armor. Which will be cool, as I always wanted to check out the Enforcer III

Enforcer III had stealth armor?

Yes, it exists, no it won't be in the game when it goes live.

Maybe someday we will see it in the game, but I expect that there will be a counter for it, so it won't be a huge advantage.

Personally, I don't really care if it is in the game, so long as I have another way to see they Mech, considering all the advanced sensors that Mechs should have... And as soon as you take damage the Armor should have difficulty rendering the stealth since its surface would now be compromised.

Now, if it is stealth with few drawbacks (say it only works when standing still, and you are invisible to all sensors, and it never takes damage, always works in all conditions etc) then I will have issues with this in the game...

P.S. Of course I can see it as a HUGE tactical advantage on a hot planet where ambient air temperature would make it difficult to spot a Mech's heat source. Stealth armor should be a paper tiger, works great once, then the advantage is lost once combat starts.

To me "steath "  means hidding from radar what im asking for is visually..... only what u see like when your zooming in to manual tagget .

excatly .....but a camo that changes pattern to mimic what u are standing in front of

That's the WOB mimetic armor -- and I think that was for their Purifier Battle-Armors. Mechs were too large to be holo-camouflaged.

The Star League had 2 Mechs with technologies that were specifically engineered for stealth missions.

Introduced in 2630 (and re-introduced by 3050), the Exterminator was outfitted with a Null Signature Device, a Chameleon Light Polarization Shield, Heat Baffles and specialized sensors and communication gear. This info can be found in TRO 2750 and the revised TRO 3050.

Introduced in 2640 (and rediscovered by 3058), the Spector was outfitted the same specialized gear as the Exterminator: a Null Signature Device, a Chameleon Light Polarization Shield, Heat Baffles and specialized sensors and communication gear. It also included the Guardian ECM suite. This info is from TRO 3058.

Saying stealth armor exists in 3049 is like saying the Bugatti Veyron exists in 3049: sure, it was invented before that date . . .

The Capellans rediscover it in 3063. The developers have stuck to canon timelines regarding 'tech. We've seen no Star League 'mechs thus far; therefore, you're not going to see it for quite a while, and certainly not until the Bloodhound Active Probe is invented.

Null-signature goes extinct after 2790 (TacOps, pg. 336). It has some interesting restrictions:"A ’Mech with this system may not mount advanced targeting computers, C3 systems, Stealth Armor, or a Void-Signature System." Void-signature is invented in 3060.

The Exterminator is in the "Star League" section of TRO 3050U, which, as you know, means that a few copies are sitting in mothballs in Comstar bunkers.

Some quotes from the source:
"The few remaining Star League designs only remained operational because their advanced systems had long since been replaced by simple (but readily available) equipment."

"ComStar also used its store of equipment to secretly re-arm the Draconis Combine—though not before stripping out most of the advanced technology" (TRO 3050U.146).

The Spector is, of course, another Star League 'mech, although things have changed after Tukayyid.

The developers have mentioned a pilot module that will allow you to go Null-sig for 5 seconds, which is quite a bit more limited than the technology we're talking about here.

As for it being included in MW:O? Doubtful, considering how rare it is in 3049.

thanks for the info because i dont know alot about the long time line of mechwarrior

OP: There is hope that a system like this will come. The benchmark appears to be the Chameleon Light Polarization Shield.
It's fairly sophisticated and currently out of reach for most of the IS Mechs. The source suggests that Comstar (the Comguards to be precise) and the Clans may still have access to that technology. If integrated into some of the more specialized Scouts, such as the Raven, it would turn an already superior Scout Mech into a perfect Scout Mech. Given the way things are most likely going to develop in terms of BattleMechs and weapons, there may be very well be an urgent need for just such a system. Seeing that the BT universe is going to face at least one major conflict in the times ahead, I'd take it almost as granted =)

At least not right away. I don't think the stealth armor for House Liao worked against optical detection either - it was just that much more effective against armor and electronic detection. You being able to see the mech and your targeting computer having no clue could still pose some problems.

Exactly, just like F-22 Raptor is a Stealth fighter, while you can easily see him by your eyes, your rockets won't lock so easily.

So are we going to have any kind of cloaking tec. such as a some sort of poloymorphing skin texture that will blend with what ever you are standing in front of? Maybe some other kind of visual dampener but not radar? And if there is not this tec is there anyone besides me that would like it?

Stealth armors are canon, but you won't see them for 'Mechs till 3063, gametime- which is 14 years from now realtime. While they aren't mimetic armor (which battle armor gets, but again- that won't fill your bill as it doesn't work on bigger objects OR is available yet), the ECM is capable of screwing around with medium-to-long range fire fairly effectively. The harsh part is that it produces a serious and constant heat burden to use, equivalent to the full cooling capacity of a "basic" 'Mech heat sink system.

Null Sig on the other hand is so high on the tech chart that you won't see it- it's effectively lost tech and it was hideously difficult to produce and use even when the knowledge was available.

On the Chameleon: "Chameleon Light Polarization Shield (LPS): The light polarization shield system does not take up tonnage, but takes up 6 critical slots (1 in each of the ’Mech’s limbs and 1 each in the left and right side torsos). The Light Polarization Shield cannot be combined with Stealth Armor or the Void-Signature System and may not be pod-mounted on an OmniMech (though Omni units may incorporate the technology into their base chassis)."

Its fate is the same as the SL Null-sig system: disappears from production in 2790; extant on a few Star League 'mechs in 3049, etc.

Please no. Things such as that added to canon make for a good case for book burning, and by doing so lessen us as a species*.

That, and proto-mechs looking like Mechagodzilla knock-offs and C3PO in halloween costume/drag. Here's hoping MWO will stick to Battletech's relatively "sane" beginnings, before the desperate one-upping and "must add NEW stuff even if we don't have ideas" happened.

*might be a slight exaggeration. Your mileage may vary.

So it all boils down to make Comstar share the cookies (CLPS) in time. Unless you want bastardized and faulty versions of a clearly superior technology.

Please no, this would be pretty stupid. Camo your 'Mech and go without active radar if you want stealth. If you're careful, it works very well.

I thing that stealth armor could be introduced in the game (after that 10 year of game time), but as it have i'ts drawbacks i don't see problem here, it make the mech run much hotter, and is really effective only at long range, while it provede no benefit at short range.

as long as it was visually only then i would like it if it starts messing with my sensors then no....just simple adaptive camo thats all

Gentlemen, if you don't drive a Scout or do not appreciate their work, then it is VERY easy to dismiss or outright deny them cloaking technology. But you will sooner or later see the wisdom behind granting them access, when the Mechs and weapons become that much more deadly (and they will most definitely). A Scout's armor is his ability to remain unseen (or not being hit at worst) and people will know the maps after a while and where it is possible to hide 'safely' and cover most of the approaches. So if you want Scouts Mechs still be as viable and useful as on day one, when the environment gets more deadly for them, then don't bar their way to better tools. At the end of a day it is just that. CLPS does not deal damage or achieves objectives. It amplifies the inherent abilities of a good Scout Mech and that's that. Each Mech has a role and to allow others to develop theirs while not giving the Scouts their due is going to have unwanted 'side effects' such as neglect and disturbed role balance.

Pretty effective I imagine. On the sketches of dev blog 6 we can see camo patterns for woodland, grass, dirt, desert, snow and urban environments (not in the military or anything, so correct me if I got any of them wrong), with the option of changing any of the colours of the pattern. It wont help you much when you're running at top speed, but I reckon you can blend in pretty well in any environment if you stand still -- assuming you have the proper camo.

Edit: see http://img.mwomercs....ev_blog6_19.png for example, http://mwomercs.com/...blog-6-mechlab/ for the entire post.

Design you're own camo? I'd paint a tree right in front of an atlas and blue around the silhouette. When you look up all you see is a tree that shoots autocannons and SSRM.
