Obviously, you don't want to use bright purple as a scout, but if using whites/greys on a winter map will be more effective, I'd love that, and the ability to easily change my paint.
Generally, you will see your target on HUD/Radar before you see them visually. Camo is only useful when paired with ECMs, which help prevent radar lock/identification.

Umm, no. If they went forward with that you wouldn't need the cloaking because I would most likely rake out my eyes in a fit of depression.

There is a lot of technology people think is not canon because it was not in the games but it exists in canon, in text and so it can exist in the mmo in any way the developers want to deliver it within reason.
I think a lot of people are going to get a lot of surprises as the devs push to create weapons and items to keep interest in the game.

Hopefully camoflage skins will be available in the in-game store. However, no special active camoflage exists in the game so far. Starsiege has some, and it was devilish. Your mech got reskinned with the terrain texture behind it.

Well, fortunately I -think- many matches have alternative win conditions to "kill em all", so that sorta thing would mean a race to whatever other way one might have for winning.

I also note that we're in a Mechwarrior game that isn't Microsoft and very much Catalyst influenced. Leaning heavily towards canon is the more likely story, rather than creating things out of thin air. Plus, we happen to have literally decades in game time worth of new 'Mechs, weaponry, and other items ready to be translated over to the online version. Makes their job a lot easier, no?

I've had enough of "stealth" classes for a lifetime.
I doubt there would ever be a stealth class at least not for years. It would be a temporary camoflauge device, maybe requiring the play to be still. That would be fun and fun is what games are about.
Canon will adapt

But if the maps are big enough and the enemy stays in bunched, baitable, mech zerg (very likely), it should be possible.

Undoubtedly, but there is a creeping suspicion, which I can not shake loose, that some people need to see it to actually believe it. Just yesterday RB, the pres aka big boss chimed in and spoke a few words of great importance, which will affect pretty much all aspects of the game.

I should also point out that we know there are so many crazy MechWarrior fans on these forums and I wish we could let everyone of you in but again it is a process that we need to ramp up to.
I also need to point out that all of us declare openly that we want this MechWarrior game to be great and to revitalize MechWarrior into a product with the attention it deserves. If we are going to be successful in doing that we need more then the several hundred thousand hard core MechWarrior fans to love it and play it. We need many millions of registrations and playes over the years to play this game. if that happens then there will be future MechWarrior games developed including Single Player ones. But if we only succeed in making the best MechWarrior game ever for us the hard core MechWarrior fans...then we likely will not see those other products.
Therefore we need both hardcore MechWarrior fans in the beta as well as plenty of joe bloe random person who signed up for the beta.
The underlined parts caught my eye immediately and I hope there are enough people that can rub 2 working brain cells together and realize what this means. This indicates to me that the basic game is attractive enough for the existing fanbase, but NOT (yet) for the average gamer out there. The hardcore approach will likely doom the whole franchise as it did before and ruin any chances for the whole community to get off life support, therefore concessions MUST be made in order to allow the community to grow, to revitalize the whole genre. This is big news and I think worth to think twice about.

ECM Suite does nothing to cloak, sensors-wise or visually-wise, the 'mech it is installed on. It interacts negatively (if hostile) with very specific systems: Narc beacons, Artemis IV FCS, Beagle Active Probes and C3 Computers/Slaves.
