In response to this thread. I can confirm: Of the 22 (ish) thousand Phoenix Packages sold, over 300 have already been refunded. Furthermore, 2 of my friends have been refunded all investments paid (including founders) in the past. I will be requesting my refund tomorrow.

Why? Refer my post below:

Greetings to the UniteAndDrop community.
I regret to inform you all that effective this evening, I am aborting the UniteAndDrop event. I thank all of the UniteAndDrop team for their efforts, and am now quite thankful that you remain anonymous. In my opinion, this game is now a lost cause.

I have received in the last 24 hours information from several sources that Garth Erlam, our “community manager” is pushing ‘Fox the network guy’ to shut the MWO servers down for 2 minutes upon the expiry of the UniteAndDrop website timer.

What this means, is although this event has certainly picked up steam within our community, and at last report from my own “web guy” our numbers were beginning to represent a considerable investment to the Mechwarrior Online game in the last 12 months, our developers really do not care about us as customers. They have no interest in allowing us our peaceful protest. They have no interest in us because they already have our money.

The fact that they would even consider interfering in an event like this is appalling to me, and I will not for a second waste any more of my time or yours with a venture that will make no difference to the way PGI and IGP are operating. They are telling the truth when they say they are partners, but it may well be the only thing they are telling the truth about.

I for one, will now be pushing for a refund. I will get it too, as will you if you try, as they have fully refunded friends of mine in the past.

I’m out. For what it is worth I am sorry.

Whiz.

While I remain skeptical of anything without a source, if that is true, I am incredibly disappointed in PGI.

It seems a little late to do this now, what with you having already canceled the event, but it might have been worth it to hold it anyway and just instruct players to keep retrying a launch until the servers were back online. I very seriously doubt PGI would be willing to take down their servers for long enough to keep the drop from happening in some numbers, and if they wind up taking them down for 3-4 hours to stop us, the questions from players on the forums will be pretty damning.

In short: **** 'em.

I would continue with the drop, just to force PGIs hand in the matter, and see if they really are willing to go that far.

So this is dropped on a rumour now?
What do you prove by doing this?

The only thing you do with dropping it, is inspire more hatred against PGI. Hatred based on information that is not open for all to see, spread by members of the community.

At least have the guts to see it through. If the information proves to be true, you would have won.

Leaving now, dropping the ball, leaves a bitter aftertaste of foul play on your part. Who is telling us, that spreading this misinformation and the resulting hatred, wasn't your goal from the beginning?

Now, i have grown a huge dislike for the [REDACTED] moderating standards of these forums, and usually the rubbish spouted by such individuals.

But in this case, Egomane is correct, this looks far worse on you and UnD and indeed will pass on to the #SaveMWO movement by taking your ball based on rumor and unsubstantiated claims.

Edit: Why does the word Chinese need moderating Dak? Do IGP not recognize the country?

I agree with this we should go through with it, we should not back down because of a rumor. It is not like we have anything to loose.

If what you say is true, its even a bigger reason to actually do it.
Lets still drop, and yes you should ask the refund.

hmm cancelling the event on a rumour without official sources would make you look bad. Keep the thing going. If PGI really does what you said they'll do, then congrats you were right. If not...

So, I just had a chat with Garth via Twitter, and he sounds pretty clueless about the whole deal. He could be lying, of course. Still, with how quickly and meekly Whiz just kinda dropped the whole thing after this huge buildup, I'm actually a tad suspicious now.

<ServerAdmin>Nope. Never, ever, would we shut the game down for a proposed user event. Regardless of method or process, users organizing a co-operative drop is the basis for our game.</ServerAdmin>

C'mon man, really? Why on earth would I bring down the servers for the ENTIRE GAME to stop this? Seriously? Also there haven't been '300 refunds', come on.

Well I'll participate in whatever happens. Does anyone remember when the actual event was scheduled?

I want to be heard before enacting a Legendary refund (which I already understand involves the deletion of my account and blacklisting of username). There's the chance that things could radically flop over onto the "wow there's a lot of you maybe listening is worth something" (intentionally intimating that the demographic I belong to has not been paid attention since ~November or a touch earlier)

I want MWO. But I don't want what's going on. Like I said in my thread that went to Jettisoned Communications (directly confronting dissent [like what is happening right now in this thread] is one thing, and is good, please do it more, but censorship is horrible)

The Event was scheduled for Saturday the 14th at 7:00 AM PST. And if they shut down the servers, I'll just keep hitting the launch button...

First of all, if we took down the servers you couldn't even click the Launch button, but you'd be hitting the Login button.

Secondly, I just officially (read OFFICIAL) told you guys that there is no plan to take the server down for any user organized event, ever. So they will not be taken down.

Also, Saturday at 7am? Are you MAD? That's soooooooo early to be up to type commands into a server. At that un-godly early hour "service mwo stop" would type out as "rm -rf /" in a terminal. You know; those keys are so close together.
