How many people were registered for this event (even if they didn't drop), and how much money did they all represent?

Almost everyone in my drop. Ladies and Gents, nearly brought a tear to my eye. I honestly cannot say how impressed I am with the turnout from my end.

don't steal gendou's atlas for this, i haven't seen him here

That was not one of my better matches, but I haven't played in ages and was thinking the best way to do this was a slow-roll single Spider cap victory of DOOM....until all the shooting started. :)

Was good dropping with the Forgotten 8th, and thanks again to everyone who participated. What happens now....well, who knows. The important thing is that at least we can say we tried.

Now although the numbers on the website are not where I want or need them to be, across the member base we are looking at an average spend of just under $250US. Given the number of players registered, (which is a bit like online-on-server numbers for MWO - kept hidden because the are currently under-performing) this is an impressive average, above my expectations really. However the number of registrations, seen in this scenario as potential 'whales' (to use a term commonly used in theoretical free-to-play models) is down. One of my fears through all of this has been that we would proove ourselves a minority through non-attendance, hence my constant push for unit leaders to contact as many people as possible so that they can make up their own mind on the matter - even if they haven't played or invested money since open beta began.
Whiz.

Hi Mista Whizzard as I'm one of those great white whales that are being talked about i would like to thank you for all the work you have done on this project on our behalf.

Whilst i think as you have said that the number are down from were you may have wanted them to be
i think if the quality of those participating will more than show the strength behind your movement..

Snowie

Gendou once told me images and atlai emoticons were there to be collected and used, I think he'd at the very least appreciate the spirit it was used in even if he isn't here himself.

We had 24 people drop in my channel.

My match maker took upwards of a minute to find a match for me, although some guys were already in a match whilst I was still searching.

We dropped in at least 5 different matches (different maps). From the feed back I have most people in those matches were UnD. That makes approximately 100 people in the drops I know about. However I cannot say whether some of those have already posted here. I was in Wizz's drop for example.

If we do this in the future we might need to get the timing better, there was at least 30 seconds difference between those in my channel alone, so we counted down off my timer.

Thanks Wizz for organising this. I feel that I have at least done something in the fight against apathy.

It was fantastic seeing a bunch of people playing stuff together again... it really is sad to see how inactive DHB's TS channel has gotten on non-training nights. Right now no MWO drops are going on, and there are like 5 people on (not counting the AFK channel).

Back in the day we used to have lots of dropships going on at once, and people playing different games together... but since we are primarily a MWO unit.... attendance has really hit rock bottom.

I really hope this movement makes PGI/IGP remember their initial pillars that got us excited and throwing money at the game. Don't try and become the next world of tanks, keep your core group happy and others will come, you can't force it or you end up losing both.

I missed the drop! I intended to be there, but was completely engrossed in another game (WarThunder.) I have registered etc., so please consider me to have spiritually been there whilst 'dropping' in another game. It kinda makes sense. I'm a whale as well.

I sincerely hope your comment was made in jest, but just in case...

I'll just say PGI/IGP haven't in the past been the types to go all ex post facto on us. The event is done already, and under their guidelines this initiative technically doesn't really violate any of the Uniform Code Of Mechwarrior Justice in any meaningful fashion in its current state.

But, seeing as your post was made after the new rules, and you did raise it yourself:

If you feel the need to post in this thread, please keep it relevant to the past event  although I'm sure a few people in this thread would find the precise wording of the afore mentioned statement amusing. If that was your intent, please, disregard what I put above

The renewed rules are an interesting development.
