The renewed rules are an interesting development.

They line up with pretty much every other game out there, all in a nice role-playing candy shell.

It's something they should have done when Open Beta was released, although technically they did exist in a more primitive form.

PGI does seem to be a bit reactive at times, instead of proactive. Small companies though...what are ya gonna do?

Really they do?

No GD forum has become a staple in what genre of games websites?

Heavy handed moderation and aggressive word filtering of words like fan boi

There is no other forum out there like this....

You forgot restrictions on new player posting. Oh and articles in the gaming press about forums in open revolt. But sure this is like every gaming forum, well every gaming forum where there is terrible community management. :)

I sincerely hope your comment was made in jest, but just in case...

I'll just say PGI/IGP haven't in the past been the types to go all ex post facto on us. The event is done already, and under their guidelines this initiative technically doesn't really violate any of the Uniform Code Of Mechwarrior Justice in any meaningful fashion in its current state.

But, seeing as your post was made after the new rules, and you did raise it yourself:

If you feel the need to post in this thread, please keep it relevant to the past event  although I'm sure a few people in this thread would find the precise wording of the afore mentioned statement amusing. If that was your intent, please, disregard what I put above :)

It was pointing out the silliness of that rule (mainly the first sub-bullet).

MWO graph is based upon 'mwomercs' search pattern.
Near no-one use 'mwomercs' on the internet. It is not even a correct word or acronym.
On the other hand he use correct search patterns for other games.

Using 'Mechwarrior' or 'Mechwarrior Online' or just 'MWO' as search pattern provide drastic difference in result.

Conclusion: OP is biased and his posts and statistics are rigged.

Oh you used Mechwarrior, that could relate to i don't know how many previous versions of the game? which outgains even Mechwarrior Online.

I mean lets go all out.

http://www.google.co...0Thunder&cmpt=q

I mean what are we trying to prove here? that people type in all sorts of search terms....welcome to the internet where you can type half garbage into google and it'll bring back results.

I mean the search term White Knight is as popular as Mechwarrior Online in 2013.

Are you suggesting that if MWO doesn't have the same amount of players as World of Tanks, that it's a failure?

The point is the OP intentionally used inaccurate search terms in an attempt to make it look like MWO is dying. That's intellectually dishonest, and... dare we say it? He's lying? He's been told of it multiple times, and refuses to fix it.

Not quite, Battletech fans will pony up silly amounts of cash for things.
If PGI put up Warhammer/Marauder/Archer packages they'd break all current records to date, as would things like the Timberwolf.

Which will happen.

However what WoT does have is a consistently higher player retention over time and somehow manages to keep new players coming in.
I mean last i logged into that game and it was some time ago, they even had a player counter and you could see how busy each server cluster was.

MWO as an arena game can survive on a small playerbase, what wont work with a small playerbase is CW where all those players are divided.
And if indeed they continue with their regional plans, well the stats tell us that the majority of people looking at this game or certainly searching and visitng the website are over on the Russian side of the world.

A small playerbase can't sustain multiple regions of CW.

Player Retention is one the first things PGI should have concentrated on.

It's a good thing they implemented 3PV then. It's had a positive effect on player retention.

Sorry but that's delusional.

You can't meaningfully produce that information a week after it's inclusion.

Let's see Bryan come back with the actual numbers rather than a single line comment in oh i dunno 3 months time.

Then it'll start being meaningful.

The new user experience needed far more than that cover story.

Like scrapping trial mechs, removing the cadet bonus and just giving new players the start up cash to by a spider,Jenner,Commando.
One they can customize and actually be on a level field.

Even if he posted the most detailed breakdown on retention, active players, etc, etc, you would still write it off as spin or even outright lies.

Confirmation bias rears its ugly head once again.

If he provided numbers over a period of time relevant then no, i wouldn't right it off.

A simple one line of saying oh our retention is better a week in....actually is the reverse of positive the games so dire new players leave before a week.

Relevant time + Factual Numbers

We can all play the blizzard game of we have 1.3million accounts go us! how many of those accounts logged in within the last 30 days is actually more relevant.

But please continue to lap up the spin it makes you happy, and happy people are well....happy.
