@cipher
It gets even more ridiculous, just look at this (created with The Drawing Board 2.0.7 Freeware)

10 tons, Level 3, FusionXL, XL Gyro, Small Cockpit, Endo Steel, MASC ---> 22(44)/33/44

How much is 44 hexes again? 440 kph? Did we just pass the Bugatti Veyron?????

Lets hope not. That would make this game suck so hard.

I think that if one takes a look at the videos, you can tell such things are not part of the program. In fact, the faster the ride, the more shaky I'm betting fire is gonna get.

Unarmored 10 ton 'something'. I think kinetic energy is going to be off the scale. Lemme calulate that real quick ... where's my cogitator. Aaah, let's crank that ***** and wait a minute xDDD

Around 74 Mega Joule, which about a tenth of an official Gauss Rifle IIRC. Just ... unreal xDDD

"Legally." The last time I visited Canada, I think I was the only one on the road going <65mph. :wacko:

I just hope MWO will have BIG maps to accomodate those 'Mech speeds ^_^

Yeah, that was discussed in dev interview 4.

And the first time an LRM group hits the ground anywhere near said fast mech? It is on it's face. Next round incoming it is dead. Dealing with fast movers isn't hard. Hitting ASF-Digger on dial up from Australia at 6 mechs out in MW3? now THAT was hard.
But not wanting fast paced combat in any Mech game is just..... ridiculous. I am piloting a highly advanced combat vehicle that is a thousand years ahead of current tech. It better be faster than an M1A1. I'm sure the heavy mechs will be in the 30-50 kmh range as per usual, middle weights 50-80ish depending, and lights topping out around 130ish unless in full scout loadout. Nothing we haven't all dealt with before a million times. There hasn't been lag-shooting in a very long time so that is a non-issue.
But then I was a C1 pilot in MW3 running 149 kph lag shooting at targets that accelerated like Ferrari's in both directions and never went in a straight line for more than a second. I may be slightly addicted to the speed and feel. And these battles will be 15 vs 15. Even at stock config speeds that will make for fast paced combat, even if you personally aren't moving fast.

You know: the 8 walking/12 running mechs. Those light things with big engines for their weight class. Locust, Spider, Ostscout, Cicada, et al.

For those of us who played World of Tanks, some of us know what 72 km/h feels like in the game. That's typically the max speed of the fastest tanks. But with almost 130 km/h, it's approaching twice that speed. That's fast. That's blazing fast.

So, how true is MWO going to be in terms of scaling speed accurately to the in-game distance we'll be running with our mechs? And it gets even better with the mech lab when we can go faster than that.

If it is accurate, I hope both our systems and the client itself can handle that blazing fast run speed! If so, it will be a wicked ride. ;) :ph34r:

Well, light Mechs are 2 or 3 times bigger than a tank, so with the relative scale it will look like it's the same speed.

I hope they toss in those fast light mechs. I love speed, and will be running often in a FireMoth or Dragonfly when they come out sometime during or after Clan Expansion. FireMoth with MASC, 216 kph!

Well, we have a few highways here in BC with a Legal limit of 110 kmph.

I'm interested in seeing this as well. I'm not familiar with KM/H metrics, but 130kph = about 80mph. And I can picture 80mph. That is FAST! I hope the animations look believable. Something that nimble would be a nightmare to get a bead on.

0.6 miles = 1 kilometer
60mph = 100kph

My math is right, isn't it? I stated "130kph=~80mph". That's spot on.

I did not say you were wrong. You said you were unfamiliar with the conversion. I didn't check your math, as I don't care whether you can do math. I was trying to be helpful. Don't worry, I wont make that mistake again.

BTW. 80 mph = 128 kph. Not that hard.

Wow, wow wow, buddy, relax. Sheesh. Heck I cheated anyways and had Google calculator do my math for me.

Also, I did say "~80mph." Which means "about 80mph".

Not sure where your attitude is coming from, but if you want to play this way, the actual lesson here is that you're a couple months behind in getting that "Help fund my 'Get the stick out of Stone's a**' surgery fund".

You don't have to beg me to be on my ignore list. Simply ask, and consider it done.

I don't forsee any issues with only 130 km\h. I wouldn't be surprised to see speeds around 200km\h, and kind of hope we do. I'm not one for light mechs but I think they should get their due when it comes to speed. I mean, that's really all they have.

*edit*

are you guys serious with this? 1 mile = .64 kilometers

work it out. damn.

And if we can customize everything on the mechs, expect to see light mechs that top out at 300 km/h. With light armor and weapons, more like 200 as you said.

Small mech, BIG ENGINE make go fast.

Reminds me of the classic muscle cars just this time it is with mechs.
