They set a release date because they listened to all the golds screaming, "IT'S NOT BETA IF YOURE TAKING MY MONEY QQQQQQ!!!!!1!!"

Bah dum tish

Or because people were getting tired of almost 2 years of 'In Development Beta', and began to have justifiable concerns about if the Devs were planning to keep it in limbo as a tax rightoff?

A game that is released into Beta and takes 2 years or more before it becomes a -basic-, releasable game, is a game that has serious flaws in management. From the lack we have seen in the 3PV implementation, I'd say that doesn't come as a surprise to those of us who have been here from the start.

Its only been in beta for 1 year, development for 2. Just saying I wouldn't get hung up on development time, its still pretty young in terms of software game development. If we still don't have CW by this time next year, then I'd start to get a bit worried.

As a member of the "silent majority" I have to say I am with the "vocal minority" regarding all the recent failures. This one reeks of blatant propaganda.

It's sad how people act online now a days. Consider that we didn't have this kind of thing happening 10 years ago.

Yeah, ten years ago you had to mail your death threats via snail mail. :V

edit: #paulsideas it's 2013? I feel old. Either way, this is not exactly new behavior from people who care about a thing.

I would be OK with PGI delaying launch, even if they still went on collecting money during a "beta."

I just want them to prove to us they intend to give us even half of what was advertised last year.

I think as a helpful suggestion PGI - please avoid discussing groups of players as majorities or minorities from now on. All of them are fans and passionate about Battle Tech/Mech Warrior - No sense in alienating paying customers. Just step back, recognize that there are issues and implement a plan.

Since the topic is mostly (you know what) your game will grow by giving both groups the choice of games they want to play in. (You Know What) ruins the immersion for those that simply don't want to see it in their game matches regardless of what it is good or not good for.

I'd like to take a moment and ask where the actual development news in this update is?

What new content are we getting? What bugs are going to be worked on? What mech are we getting this month since that's apparently the only item on your development agenda you seem to work on?

All of this is just words. And we long ago realized your words are pretty much meaningless. I mean look, another proposed date for actually telling us about Community Warfare that you'll probably miss.

Come back when you have something substantial to offer us.

NO! NO! NO! NO! You can't!!! You're the silent majority that is supposed to legitimate anything PGI does, so what are you doing here! You're breaking the rules! And, since you belong to the "silent majority", you shouldn't be saying anything in the first place!

:)

Seems you changed places with this post .. welcome to the vocal-minority-non-target-demographic-group :)

The community is going to have its own Launch Event party. It's called metacritic. I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot of cool and new information at that party as well.

So, read 29 pages, and while I will continue to read, I will say this:

Glad to see I'm not the target demographic.

I hear MW:LL is pretty fun, gonna download that and give it a go for a while I think.

PGI to all the Founders: "Thanks for the 120 bucks, now there's the door, You're not the target demographic. We know we promised certain things, Just get out of here."

I really STILL want this game to succeed, Mechwarrior has ALWAYS been a niche game, maybe you guys should try catering to the niche that had the guts to fund you ahead of time, we're the ones that will be here long after the 12 year olds switch to the new Call of Duty flavor of the month.

I payed my 120 bucks, and I'm not buying more until you guys get your act together. This is some phoney baloney nonsense, ghost heat. 3PV after a promise of not doing that?

Just remember folks, today you may think that you are the target demographic, but tomorrow you will be in our shoes.

I can't say too much for fear of possible retaliation, but the influence of the goons goes further than anyone is willing to admit. Think of all of the crazy stories you hear from EVE and then imagine the stuff that doesn't come out. I've been silent after my recent expulsion from gooncorps, but I will say that some people on this board are pretty damn close to the truth. The only reason why I was because I refused to take part in certain operations that went beyond the game. Luckily I don't think they know much of my personal information (I paid most of my dues through money order), or I wouldn't even be saying this right now.

Ok Im sick of just whining about the negatives in MWO and besides, a whole swag load of people have already said it so heres my (hopefully) constructive 2 cents.

From what I have seen in my many years playing the different version of mechwarrior, there seems to be a common factor to keeping the player base happy, and that is choices...we like choices. Its not the be all and end all of keeping one of the pickiest and most vocal communities happy but I believe it goes a long way.

If PGI staff read this, please, please take note. While 12v12 was a great idea, there was no reason to replace 8v8 with it...in fact, why not have 4v4, 8v8 AND 12v12 as options we can choose with teams of 2, 4, 6, 8, and 12 players selectable. Hopefully the new UI 2.0 will let us organise our mech bays and I'm hoping that hardcore mode comes soon as we will hopefully then be able to choose to have forced first person or not. We also need more game modes with my suggestions being a destruction mode with no cap points and an attack/defend type with a single cap point, possibly with static defenses. This would work best once tonnage limits come in to play and we can have a lighter defending team with static defenses and a heavier attacking team.

In my opinion, we need the ability to choose the mech we are dropping in, according to the map we are dropping on, even if we have to select a base mech and are then presented with a 'limited' choice of variant before launch. More mechs are on the way, this is a great thing, but no offense, we need more, and last but defenitely not least we need more maps, more maps and, oh yes...more maps. This could easily be achieved with the release of a map editor so that the community could submit maps for approval to PGI.

As I said earlier, this will not be the magic bullet that fixes everything, but providing the player base with choices will go a long way to securing that player base and bring them on side for future developments within the game.

I still think the reason that MWO is launching is so that Founders cant get a refund. As long as the game has not been delivered then Founders can ask for their money back. All I have heard so far, is that when the game goes live they are removing the Beta sticker from the title.

I have started to look at it this way.

1. Closed Beta was actually Alpha
2. Open Beta was actually Closed Beta
3. Launch will be Open Beta
4. CW Launch will be real Launch

Doesn't really make a ton of sense but close enough.

Nah, they're launching...with what, we don't know. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if the CW info is postponed until after launch. After all, that's what they did before (you'll get CW near OB!)
