Ok Im sick of just whining about the negatives in MWO and besides, a whole swag load of people have already said it so heres my (hopefully) constructive 2 cents.
From what I have seen in my many years playing the different version of mechwarrior, there seems to be a common factor to keeping the player base happy, and that is choices...we like choices. Its not the be all and end all of keeping one of the pickiest and most vocal communities happy but I believe it goes a long way.
If PGI staff read this, please, please take note. While 12v12 was a great idea, there was no reason to replace 8v8 with it...in fact, why not have 4v4, 8v8 AND 12v12 as options we can choose with teams of 2, 4, 6, 8, and 12 players selectable. Hopefully the new UI 2.0 will let us organise our mech bays and I'm hoping that hardcore mode comes soon as we will hopefully then be able to choose to have forced first person or not. We also need more game modes with my suggestions being a destruction mode with no cap points and an attack/defend type with a single cap point, possibly with static defenses. This would work best once tonnage limits come in to play and we can have a lighter defending team with static defenses and a heavier attacking team.
In my opinion, we need the ability to choose the mech we are dropping in, according to the map we are dropping on, even if we have to select a base mech and are then presented with a 'limited' choice of variant before launch. More mechs are on the way, this is a great thing, but no offense, we need more, and last but defenitely not least we need more maps, more maps and, oh yes...more maps. This could easily be achieved with the release of a map editor so that the community could submit maps for approval to PGI.
As I said earlier, this will not be the magic bullet that fixes everything, but providing the player base with choices will go a long way to securing that player base and bring them on side for future developments within the game.
