lol now now calling people names. Your results show it behind war thunder , Star C and other does not look good for you.

Alright. lets play "whos lying more" here.

1. my results show mwomercs as the worst ranking. Why? because no one searches for Mechwarrior using the term "mwomercs"

2. Searches using "mechwarrior" come in second behind world of tanks.

3. world of tanks includes 223,000,000 searches that include a vast majority of items that have 0 to do with gaming.

3. mechwarrior returns a mere 3,000,000 results including the entire franchise.

4. of the mechwarrior vs world of tanks searches, the mechwarrior 3 million links contain a higher % related to video games than the term "world of tanks" does. What can we infer from this? "mechwarrior" related terms when searched lead to more video game hunts than "world of tanks" which is probably searched by every grandpa and includes tons of "world" searches.

almost all mechwarrior searches lead here.

world of tanks searches lead to stuff like

Why didn't America build better tanks in World War 2 - WikiAnswers

We did build a fine tank that was a match for the Tiger or Panther one on one. It was called the M26 Pershing. It came out in the fall of 1944. About 200 were ...

the slashdot article is funny. We arent talking journalism, we are talking about a "new submitter", probably an angry fan.

It's fairly obvious at this point given the tone of the few articles, and the mainly fringe websites they are cropping up on that don't demand journalistic integrity of any kind, that we are not talking about unbiased reporting here.

your continued attempts to "troll forward" your agenda with very lacking in understanding google analytics results that absolutely are manipulated by you are only further showing very clearly that rational thought & logic have little to do with the agenda some of you are pushing.

Be careful where you tread folks.

Trying to argue these statistics using google is pointless .

especially when it comes to search results.

google customizes its results based on search history per machine.

so regardless of how you try to portray the the results they will already be skewed by your previous searches.

things like alexa are a bit more informative if not alarming

People that looks for mechs search MECHWARRIOR

http://www.google.co...hwarrior&cmpt=q

Using mechwarrior (because thats what this game is CALLED) gives us much different results, results where we see that behind world of tanks we have...MECHWARRIOR.

Lets not be too stupid here people. I know it's hard.

Yeah, and if I compare WoT to "tanks"...

I assume that that was a refund on your Phoenix Pack or did you get a refund on your Founders Pack? I'm curious to know if anyone has been refunded their Founders Pack money in the past few weeks. Early on I was not planning on it, having gotten my PP money back already, but I'm inching towards the cliff these days, using the Canadian Competition Bureau position on False or Misleading Representations as my basis (you can google it, I'll refrain from a link this time).

Someone earlier mentioned that the "launch" could be a convenient way to lock up the Founders money, and it got me thinking that I will have to make up my mind before that date. Barring a patch and significant improvements of course.

Maybe having nothing invested in the game would remove my angst over it.

You are really sad, and just wrong.

As a founder with only 50 posts, I should qualify for the 'silent majority'.

I am OK with heat penalty, the cool shot, and I'm even ready to tolerate the 3PV (although not the oathbreaking that associated with the separate queue). I have played a few online games so far and this is the first one where the developers openly and explicitedly told its most dedicated and passinate core group of players, many of whom invested in this game so that it is possible in the first place, that they don't care about their feedback because they are no longer their target demographics.

And please don't come to me and say how 'successful' your game is. The cold, hard math shows that your game is at rock bottom compared to other vehicle combat sims such as WOT, Warthunder and the forthcoming Star Citizen:

http://www.google.co...%20tanks&cmpt=q

Right, I'm not your target demographic. Let me just tell you with a straight face, if you want to fight with WOT for a 3rd person arcade vehicle combat MMO, you are seriously deluded. You are already short on numbers, and you just gave me the middle finger.

PGI, please wake up. MWO, please don't die.

Eh.. War Thunder and World of Tanks aren't anywhere near as good as MWO. You are seriously delusional if you think that... and Star Citizen might be but it still has yet to prove itself.

what an awesome "community".

death threats over a PoV.

amazing.

Death threats, endless whining, lies, exaggerations and hand waving all over an insignificant PoV that no one uses.

Also a whole bunch of refunds and cancellations by people who do nothing but post on the forums here and play the game.

Because negative feedback over specific features = death threats, lies and whining :)

well if you ignore the death threats, lies and whining, then you end up with just "negative feedback"

I think the gaming media might finally be catching on to what is happening here...

(publications as well as blogs)
Penny arcade report The hardcore mechwarrior online community is in open revolt
GameFront A cautionary tale: The rage of the mechwarrior online community
Starburst Magazine Mechwarrior Online faces widespread accusations of false advertising
The Mittani MWO A failure to communicate
Loaded Dice What happened to mechwarrior online?

And just to play devil's advocate, I did some reading up on IGP and think that blaming them might be premature.

My reasoning is that the president of IGP is a guy called Kelly Zmak. Kelly has a very very long history of game making going back to ghostbusters on the atari, and including the original Mechwarrior, homeworld, and MW3 plus MW3 pirate's moon!

This guy might have had the 3pv shoehorned in, but he has been around long enough to know a thing about keeping to a schedule and delivering on promised content. I don't think we can blame all of the sh*twizardry we have seen around here on IGP.

link> http://www.mobygames...veloperId,3299/

Ok maybe so but why hasn't Kelly Zmak turned around and said your making, me look bad, my company look bad, your the ******** ceo of PGI stop blaming your staff for your screw ups, now either change things or I'm pulling the plug ? (yes he might have said those) frankly i'm waiting for a media shot from IGP, saying we have complete confidence in the staff of Russ Bullock, and the staff at PGI, so I know to start looking for another title to play come christmas and to claw my pheonix package back for sure..I'm still wavering on that score.

Because I would be in finger point mode over this, I have been in the past, with equals and superiors for far less than this, if I was Kelly zmak I'd be telling my legal people how can we get out of this mess, and distance myself from PGI.

If he was that great and savy a person, people go off the boil, and just because they were good years ago doesn't mean they're good now, I mean just look at IGP's stable of infamey, This, that other mech disaster, and some other title I'm not even going to bother look at because of the utter failures of the mech titles.

Actually warthunder and world of tanks are very good games if you can cope with the total bias towards old soviet union equipement, when a yak 9 out performs a spitfire, and an IS2 out performs a Tiger Tank then there are serious problems, and ones I'm not prepared to play under anymore.

One of the big advantages of mechwarrior is the fact its fictional, and only the canon is utterly bias lol..

I can play on a side here, knowing that if I'm in a pug team mostly full of marik, I'm not going to feel disadvantaged because the other side is full of Davion, where as in the other two titles if one side is comprised mostly of old soviet equpiement they have an advantage unless you happen to be playing really bad, pilots, tankers..

I would also like to point out that WoT launched with a fully functioning clan warfare system...

while I'd like to show western bias, PGI make it impossible to do so and in game developement the Russians are clearly ahead of the game.

Wasn't living legends part russian developed ?

Possibly so, I can't say I bother to try and keep up with every threadnaught on here. But really, there's always going to be opinionated people and some degree of grandstanding, and short of cutting off internet and tv and moving into a bunker in the wilderness there's no way to avoid it... and even then a "reality tv" crew would probably come and find you anyway. I don't see any reason in not giving candid feedback - preferably constructive feedback, but nonetheless candid.

Assuming every choice is the best of all possible solutions and making excuses for everything that goes wrong doesn't work toward building a better game. Blaming problems on the people who find them or point them out is no way to test anything.

Personally, I try to put myself in someone else's shoes before judging, but sometimes I come up with "no, I still wouldn't have made that choice and I think the repercussions will be bad". I'd rather say it out front and try to make things better than hold my tongue while things fall apart then later say "yeah, I thought those were all really bad ideas" when it's too late to fix anything.

Anywhere you go on the internet you're going to have to endure some trolls (and some smartasses whose humor gets a bit lost between the pixels), but if you let them disrupt the honest flow of communication, well, you've effectively let them win.

I think anyone withholding their opinion because they think it's adding to a pernicious internet dogpile, and that not communicating is somehow giving the dev team more breathing room, is making themself part of the problem rather than part of a solution.

The sad thing is all of this, all of it, would go away if they would announce:

- We dumped 3PV outside of Trial mechs
- Ghost Heat is abolished entirely
- PPCs changed accordingly
- Fix the movement system and stop thinking tonnage =/= size
- Maybe buff a couple things in the XML files

Seriously, this would end 99% of the rage right there even without CW or UI2.0 at launch. The only reason NOT to do these thing is if you desire to go speeding off a cliff.

Well... I have to say that while that might be true, the fact that I haven't seen any doesn't seem like very good evidence that there have been any significant number of threats. Reductio ad absurdum, by that argument I could theorize that I have a ninja roommate, since I've never seen a ninja in my apartment but if he's a good ninja I'd never see him, and maybe I just haven't noticed any food missing or stuff moved because he's a very good roommate and is scrupulously conscientious about not disturbing my things.

I have seen lots of threats of legal action on the forums, though that's a very different thing.

There have been, and it's dumb. Nobody should make death threats here. That crosses the line and only makes the community look worse because of a few bad apples.

I might say a lot of negative things but this just isn't cool.

I've been reading the forums over the weekend fairly often and in the hundreds of posts I've seen I thankfully haven't seen anyone threatening violence. I hope this means that it was just a few who sunk that low, because that's just awful.

Interestingly I will say that I have seen one or two people dropping f-bombs and name calling.

It was interesting because both of them were on the "Doesn't matter what PGI said they would do to get your money, they don't owe you anything" side of the discussion as opposed to the "PGI is ethically if not legally bound to do what they said they would do while soliciting funds." side of the discussion.

The forums have come full circle since closed beta in that those most vocally defending PGI's decisions are now the more offsensive. Not universally of course, some are polite, but 2-0 this weekend in that direction.

Oddly I left shortly before open beta started disgusted with what little progress had been made, I came back, about 6 months later, and stayed and spent big and while I thought there were alot of dumb stuff done by pgi, was nuetral or though at times it left a nasty feeling defended actions, I had the odd flare up over the orion and while I thought 3pv was pointless and was in no way going to help new players if an option was kept in general play for a choice to kept away from the 3pv 1pv switching cheats then I could go along with the, things change we have the right to change them etc etc, until they welshed on that, because they knew spending time and money on it was a complete waste of time for 15% of the population, so they forced it on all of us.

So even the apologie was based on a lie for the reason they desided not to spilt the que, and the 12v12 is a desperate attempt to stop the water rushing out a broken dam with a plank of wood, while still abandoning those of us that can't or won't play in full teams, and suffering their mediocre attempts to put more bodies on the servers.

Mechwarrior games are allways going to be niche games, i've thrown approxmately $500 at this game knowing that, its now gone down to nearly zero as I will still keep paying for unseen mechs and the orion if it ever arrives, but until I get a practical choice of chosing to play along side 3pv people or not, they get no more cash out of me so I'll be like the ngng crowd now that only ever seem to put youtube streams up showing free acounts..

As to actual death threats I've not seen any direct ones, there have been comparisions to smedly having to leave his scripted coments at hmm was it E3 over changes to everquest, as he was heckled by the crowd, and I think that the passions for this game are comparable for then what was happening at SOE.

I do think that the devs would be incredibly dumb to appear in public with things as heated as they are, because the plastic coffee cups might just fly, glad i'm safely at home well out the way, but well they have a track record for either dumb or flat out greed, so ce la vie
