pretty sure i gotta buy the package... but i dont understand why its not 1x heavy and 1x medium instead of 2 more mediums.... next $30 package gunna be 2 more heavies? lol

The reason has nothing being mediums, its because both the Griffin and the Wolverine are both Unseen inspired from the same mech series Dougram. The Battlemaster, Shadowhawk and the Thunderbolt came from this series, and it just needs to be completed with the Griffin and the Wolverine. Its like a family of 5 siblings, why leave two out. The fact that the Griffin and the Wolverine both being 55 ton mediums have nothing to do with it, even if they are both two lights, two assaults, an assault or a light, it all won't matter, they need to be in. The fact they are both 55 ton mediums have something to do being set in Battletech lore three decades ago, something that can't be helped.

wouldnt you get more sales if you just included the two new mechs in each tier ?
people who already bought it would be very happy and people on the fence would jump in ?

if that didnt float your boat i would let people choose to swap out the old pack mechs with anything of the new ones
(like a sideboard for a card game)
somewhat like the founders packs

I love the redesigns. They look a ton better than the TRO: Project Phoenix art, especially the Wolverine.

I'll have to think about spending another $30 on this. I think I'll wait and see what the next patch brings. But all of these Phoenix 'mechs look awesome ;)

I think I am too old to be distracted from my concerns about the future of this game by a pair new shiny toys.

I mean, Mr. Ekman in the latest "Community Developer Update" (sic!) made it clear that hardcore battletech fans are not the "target demographic" of this game. As I consider myself hardcore battletech fan, I am not inclined to buy anything in a game made not for me. Especially if that game is in "Shooter" genre, but fails to register shots that hit on target.

Ok, why do the Griffin & the Wolverine get max 7 jump jets, but the Shadow Hawk is stuck at 3? At least give it the ability to carry up to 5.

I can't say I believe in any way that we shall see any valuable improvement to this game in the nearest couple of years, or that when main features finally arrive, they will be worth more than dirt.

But I'm definitely buying this new reinforcement for my Overlord as soon as my payday comes, and very much hope to have at least a year to ride this army of mechs on the hills of poorman's dosen of sad-looking maps in a faceless and pointless war.

I hope at least this pack of classic mechs may make the game feel more BT, which feeling is largely lacking right now.

NO. SHD has 3JJ, maybe the only medium to have 3. And it was meant to be so, as it further emphasizes the depth of crappiness of this mech's design. It's been made to be good for nothing. SHD-2H is one of the Most Awful mechs in BT and my personal #1 worst mech.
Still, MWO may give him a second life. We'll see.

Took a while for the progress bar on Phoenix to go from 50 to 60, but it spiked right up to 70 w/this announcement. Guess PGI knows where their bread is buttered after all.

While 3PV doesn't bother me much because I'm not a good enough player to be competitive anyway, I've been rather disappointed w/some of their more recent choices. Made only ~400k in a night of playing w/premium on (and a couple of those matches in a founders mech w/the C-bill bonus), which isn't exactly inspiring me to want to spend money on the game.

That said, it would seem the market has spoken, and I'm not going to try and rage about how important my money is. Sucks being on the wrong end of capitalism, especially with an IP you love, but it is what it is.

Hmm of your two examples who gets PAID to interact on these forums.

Oh, strange that.

I'm pretty sure the only people that get paid to interact on these forums are Garth and Niko. Nobody else has to come on here and talk to the public, but they do anyway.

What do you mean no? You can mount as much JJs as you had cruising MP. For a Shadow Hawk, that's 5, so it can mount up to 5 JJs. For some idiotic reason, it took until the 5M before a standard design mounted that many, but they could be modded to carry more, and in a game where we can strip out the chasis and do whatever the hell else we want, we should be able to mount up to 5 JJs.

Your irrational bias aside, it's a perfectly fine medium mech.

I think IGP wants to replicate the incredible success that Star Citizen has with selling pre-release content, but they completely fail to understand that it's the extraordinary transparency of RSI and excellent community engagement that makes it happen.

Or maybe they estimate its importance completely and learned that all people need is new shinies.

The weird thing is that these mechs aren't super-exclusive. The only thing you get is the C-Bill bonus and the skin of these mechs. So you don't need to buy it for real world money if you're just a fan of the mech. It's not like you can drive more than one mech at a time, too, just a single mech with its two variants will already give you a month of play time to max them out, and if you don't plan on using them to max t hem out, why even bother? Just for the sake of having its bytes?

People are quite irrational in this regard. But if it works for PGI, that's not their problem.

Not to derail this thread, but I'll give you a simple example of how I have abused 3PV to gain an unfair advantage. I poptart a lot in my Dragon Slayer that as 2 ERPPCs + 1 Gauss Rifle. Normally, I can not see any of my enemies until I have committed to a poptart and am jumping over the crest of a hill. Using 1pv, I have to maintain my jumpjets long enough to find a target and position my reticle on top of it. However, switching to 3pv, I can see over the hill and acquire a target without ever having to jump and expose myself. That way, I can just line up my shot, switch to 1pv, jump, expose my self a lot less, shoot, and repeat.

it may be a minor difference, but I really do expose myself to a LOT less potential damage because I can line up my shot without taking any risks. Compound this advantage across multiple mechs on a team over the course of an entire game, and you end up with a very broken game mechanic really quickly.

You seem to forget this little blinking camera above you which tells every other mech: "Hey, look! Here hides a poptart and maybe he will jump soon, so prepare for an airkill!"

PGI really likes to shat on its founders. We spend $120 on 4 crappy mechs(2 are useable), we think our money is going towards the development of the game, instead IGP invests in there other games. Game doesnt have the funds to deliver what it promised and delays everything, and now they want us to spend money on the Phoneix pack.

I just checked what other games they made, It must have slipped my mind but when i checked I found that they made 'Duke nukem forever' - If I had known that beforehand I might have never invested any money in this game as duke nukem turned out to be the biggest steaming pile of 'Good looking' garbage I had played in ages... wasnt that game delayed for about 12 years and was then branded one of the biggest dissapoinments in gaming history?

I hope you get this game right, I really do but with your current track record I have my doubts.

You have a good game to play with here, great artists and a really interested fan base <-- listen to them and completely ignore whomever gave you advice on the Duke nukem remake.
