You missed one option! Russ suggested a possible option "for instance Community Warfare provided the segregation" from this post: http://mwomercs.com/...85#entry2678285

It's not a bad idea I thought, because you could have 1PV only for matches that involve CW as it will be a competitive environment between factions. Then have 3VP optional for non CW matches such as prearranged matches or random PUG drops or something like that.

Not to re-light the torches, but CW is also starting to look very 12v12 only in these strange times.

Splitting queues is the worst idea I have ever seen. Either take out 3PV, or leave it in, I don't care, just don't split queues. Maybe when MWO has 5 million unique active accounts, then it will be okay to split them, but until then, doing any kind of splitting is just a bad idea.

3PV sucks, and by sucks, I mean practically useless(as in why did they even bother putting it into the game?). People may say it's game breaking, but they don't know what they are talking about, or never used it, or have difficulties playing this game in the first place and are just looking for an excuse to blame others for their own short comings. I have a hard time believing anybody has actually fooled themselves into thinking 3PV gives you some kind of tactical advantage it otherwise wouldn't.

Yes, use your 3PV to attempt to destroy me, yeah... won't happen.

Anyway, leave 3PV in, take it out, doesn't concern me, no one I have ever played with or against since it's implementation have been able to successfully use it to score a decisive win(because it's useless) in solo drops, group drops, and 12v12 drops.

Just don't split queues!!!!

We are the vocal minority, our votes mean nothing. Only our closed wallets and inactivity mean anything to PGI.

I am done giving these people anymore money, they swindled quite a bit of money from me, since the patch came out I managed two drops so I guess I am done playing as well. This will be the last time that I will ever help to fund developer. PGI has a nice scam running here.

Heres the thing about 3PV which you probably do not realize and the entire reason I am against it.

The camera distance is set by the game and can be changed by a hack for a tactical advantage. I have no trust in the ability of PGI to police a hacker who is willing to do this and therefore am still sickened to death by them not listening to the community. Sickened enough by 3PV that I still haven't played this most recent patch.

There is a simple fix to this however. Every mech needs to be invisable unless in direct line of sight to an enemy.

Too many like choices?
And enabling multiple choices doesn't help with with at all.
Can't please everyone but this gives most of the choices people have been yelling about plus the option the devs gave us on their poll

It's interesting in a way, because of all the resistance to 3PV it's now useless, and like you I don't mind that it's there in it's current form or not, but for PGIs sake they should have a 3VP casual game mode that has on effect on CW so all the casual players get their "big robot" fix and the rest of us can enjoy a Mech game the way it's meant to be... Everybody wins! ^_^

Just remember guys, every time you play a game you are helping PGI and reinforcing in their minds that the 1PV people will stick around regardless. If you want to send a message, don't play. Not even once. Playing without paying still gives content to other paying customers, you are the content for them to shoot at. Empty servers are heard far louder than a hundred forum polls.

I've been almost completely out of the gaming loop for a long, long time. Nothing captured my interest enough to keep me playing long. When I found MW:O last Nov., I found that it actually felt like I was really in a mech and in a very dangerous situation. (Perhaps my playing it on a 46" TV increased that sense, but still.) I haven't played any other games because nothing else gave me that sense of heart-pounding excitement from being in a brawl. It's been awesome and very fun!

When they announced 3PV, I was incredulous. Why would anyone want to play an immersive simulator in a way that breaks all semblance of immersion? They said it would help new players. I sort of accepted that reasoning but I still felt that if they wanted to attract players who are new to this franchise, a tutorial (with 3PV toggle, perhaps) would have been much more effective at teaching them movement and gameplay.

Even without a tutorial, it just really isn't that hard. I can do it pretty successfully and I'm a 40 year old who never really played any 1PV shooters (cuz I usually can't play them enough to get decent at them) and I typically only have a few hours a week to play because I work full-time and attend college part-time. (Disclaimer: I did play MW2 and a little bit of MW3, so the movement mechanics were not completely unfamiliar, but how many years has it been since then?)

Despite severe budget constraints, I've managed to spend more toward MW:O than any other game I've ever played. I had been saving up to purchase a Project Phoenix package to show my support but I honestly feel betrayed by their "changing their minds" about their unequivocal statement (promise) that 1PV-only would always be an option. Whatever. The 3PV players can have this game. You'll get no more financial support from me.

I've moved on. I hope Star Citizen will fill the void. Until then, I guess perhaps I should thank PGI for taking all of the fun out of the game for me. Now I have less excuse to avoid doing my assignments for school. Someone please let me know if they realize the error of their ways and bring the fun back in. I will miss destroying you and, yes, even being destroyed by you. :D

Personally i don't believe that it was ever just for training new players. PGI just decided that they wanted the 3pv crowd and knew they'd have to slip 3pv in a little at a time to keep players somewhat appeased. I have no doubt that eventually, assuming 3pv does increase their profits, 3pv will have access to every part of the game and there is no 1pv-only area.

As far as i'm concerned since CB ended they stopped listening to the players. They will continue to put whatever they like in the game no matter if it is not part of the BT universe (drones) or works in a completely different way (ECM).
At this point the game looks like BT (if you can ignore the drones) but that's it.

Nice name btw. Two of my favourite subjects ^_^

I'd rather be stating at the start of the game "the queues are getting smaller" when I see some of the same people from the last match. At least it's more honest than PGI's poll... because I tend to see too many players from previous matches in the next match.

Yeah I know. I was able to get in and it blew me away! They level of polish on their PRE pre-alpha. Astounding. Canceling my Phoenix order today and throwing more money at them! To keep me for the moment aaalllll they had to do was split the queue's. Oh well, they didn't need me since I wasn't their target demographic. All my IRL friends have already quit. Guess I can tell them they were right.

I accidentally started with 3PV today, since I didn't know it did that now. I grabbed my mouse with both hands and started trying to use it like an x-box controller. Then I promptly spent the rest of the match disabling the feature.

PGI, stop making these features the default!

I'm disappointed to hear that 12 v 12 premade is the only place for 1PV exclusively. I understand two queues would throw a wrench in the match maker (very bad, like weight balancing + Elo was)
so I can get over it for now.

This brings me to one features implementation that I see as very fair and appropriate for public games:

A SOLO ONLY DROP QUEUE MEANING NO MORE 4 - 8 - even 12 man groups ACCUSED OF PRE MEDITATED MURDER IN THE PUBLIC QUEUE. WE WANT THE ABILITY TO DROP BY OURSELVES KNOWING THE ENEMY HAS DROPPED BY THEMSELVES.

So yeah, I haven't quite thought that through.... all I know is that I hardly ever want to play in or against groups... I just want to drop as quickly as possible and keep the ball rolling knowing that I don't have to ' ride the train ' or play ' rock paper scissors ' nearly as often.

( It was to the point, during closed beta, I could look at our team and guess the outcome of the battle before it even happened. and that made me not want to play in matches I knew would be total horse s*** & that feeling persists to this day)

Groups play against groups until integrated voice options can solve that problem is something I would have done since day one :D

Had a chance to calm down today, and posted in ATD-46.
While i see nothing wrong with showing emotion, and people usually say exactly what they mean when they're angry :D , i decided to wait until i had calmed down before posting anything at all on these forums.

Lishta (wife) still insists she's not playing (or spending money on) MWO anymore and is playing Diablo3 again B)

Right now i don't feel like doing any more than getting 2xXP on my Atlas.

3PV, as has been implemented,is useless for newbies and gives unfair advantages compared to 1PV only.
You are a noob; first time starting the game.
1) No tutorial.. Meh.
2) Testing Grounds: How can i move? It's too hard to understand.. Oh yeah there is the third person view,i can see my Mech! Yeee! *press F4* WTF? I can't see my legs! B) And there isn't the minimap with the arrows which say me where my legs and my torso are facing.. (true with,i think, every medium or heavier)
You are a competitive player:
1) I know there is someone near that rock..
2) *press F4* Well, now i can see beyond the cliff covering me without risking being hit!

So what is the point of 3PV?

Best implementation IMO: mixed queque, better avoid fragmenting the community. But if you want to help the new arcade players who cannot drive a tank (or a walking tank), you must do it in this way: the camera is low, you can see very well your legs and your torso. Doing this will prevent 3PV users to be able to see beyond cover so no unfair advantages (or at least they are reduced). Everyone is happy :D

I'm fine with 3pv as long as it doesn't affect me, ie. has its own queue and playerbase.

Having only one queue with 3pv enabled forces everyone to exploit its advantages to remain competitive, antagonizing people who would rather not deal with 3pv in MWO. This lends itself to an unpleasant atmosphere where the pro-3pv people are scorned for playing the way they prefer to, while the anti-3pv crowd feels compelled to play the way they'd rather not, since they would be gimping themselves otherwise.

Splitting the queues allows both crowds to enjoy MWO the way they like best, knowing nobody will hold it against them.

Thanks for your comments Tolkien and thanks for posting them non-accusatory. I don't agree with all of them, but then again there is no need for that. We hould be able to disagree and still play the same game.

Now one thing we need to keep in mind is that we all want this game to improve and all want the game to do financially well. That only works if we are a welcoming community that doesn't go absolutely bonkers whenever our expectations aren't met.. Critical views are good, excellent even if brought in a calm manner.

Let's keep in mind the whole player base, from noob to hardcore pilot to grizzled old vet who doesn't care about a thing apart from seeing an old fashioned nice mech that gives him a tear in his eye. They all need to play that game. Few of them actually hang around here to fill these polls.

Let's see what happens and let's hope this Community Warfare really turns out as awesome as we all hoped.

As long time player who has been here since Beta launch (just not as active on the boards) I have to say, even if Community Warfare is awesome it wont matter if when pugging I am forced to play 1PV vs. 3PV, I am competitive enough to understand the advantage it gives, but it completely breaks immersion for me. Being forced to utilize a feature I do not enjoy for a competitive advantage literally kills my enjoyment in the game. Even if they implement CW *perfectly* (doubtful), or surprise us with Clan Drop on launch (I have no reason too think or believe this is going to happen its just an example), it wont matter for me, I wont come back.

As someone who was SERIOUSLY considering purchasing project Phoenix, this completely drove me away from the game. Not only that I know of at least 3 people in my online friends group that have had there Phoenix pre-orders canceled over the implementation of forced 1PV vs. 3PV. In other words, the poor implementation of 3PV is a major Issue, probably the most pressing issue, and if you don't realize that or think that people aren't serious about quitting over it you are sadly misguided (whether the "you" in this case is just a player or PGI itself.)
