I'm still trying to figure out why they thought it appropriate to put up a poll that said 'yes - remove 3pv from 12 mans and make it permanent everywhere elese' or 'no - don't remove it from 12 mans'.....

Just as with JJ-shake and "ghost heat" there was never a reason to put 3pv in, in the first place. Add to that the fact that they said they would never ever put it in, and then when they decided to put it in anyways they said that 1pv and 3pv would have separate queues... and they give us this single mixed queue {Scrap}.
PGI continues to slam their hand in the car-door, and refuse to listen to the community who's telling them to just stop doing it.

That was a very short poll was it not? Did it even manage 24 hours?
Biased quickly-closed poll manipulated to produce favorable-to-PGI results worked precisely as intended.
Current poll with real option will be ignored by devs who have likely hauled off to their latest vacation retreat.

Sure you can take a peek from behind corners but still have to expose your nose before taking a shot. For scouting 3pv may have some unfair advantage, still, it's minor I think.
When I play MechWarrior, I am piloting a huge machine of quite unimaginable power. I'm sitting inside it, looking from inside it's cockpit and I see internal monitors warning me of critical danger. I feel the tonnage under my fingers and I hear computer telling me information with a calm tone. These are some of the biggest attractions in MechWarrior universe.
I tried Armored Core some years ago and it was like playing with animated action figures.. Dolls, as one of you said earlier.
It is my strong opinion that if a player primarily uses external view, he or she loses the important feeling of piloting a 'Mech and the sim-aspect of the game.

And we'd by in large liked to have seen that fixed before work began on third person, yet here we are.
This is a polarizing issue because as you can see in my sig they lied. They committed to something and we liked that, then they decommited to it and committed to a compromise, despite our insistence that it wouldn't work for the reasons that it's probably not working they went ahead, then they reneged on their good faith compromise, and stuck us with third person view without so much as a shout out in the patch notes after it happened.
Everything they've done since then has made it worse. We're simply trying to get them to honor the deal before we vote with our feet.

No structural advantage no matter how minor it is will be acceptable. It's like starting with an extra 500 spot at the beginning of monopoly, you might not win but if you do and the other players find out, everyone is mad.

That is true. I wouldn't have 3pv in this game at all. You should have seen my face when I dropped to a battleground first time in two months. I just didn't see it coming.

So - actually I do not care who is taking which perspective. If I command a lance with the Skye Rangers - viewport is STRICTLY limited to 1pv! I do not want to give away my position sooner as necessary!

What answer? What did i miss?
Edit: As of now i'm no longer a beta tester (not that anyone has been if they disagree with PGI) so have no input or opinion. It's kind of ironic that i'm now one of the silent majority, and still won't be listened too...

It's kind of obvious by now that 3pv was never about helping new players. It was just an excuse to slide 3pv a little under the door at a time instead of kicking the door in an exclaiming "3pv is the new main game mode".

From brian in their poll
91.55% voted in favor of making 12 v 12 pre-made groups restricted to 1PV view only.
The work will be completed today, with branch testing starting tomorrow and through the next week. The plannedrelease date will be September 17th. As with all features, they need to pass through QA and test before being released.
