I'm glad you took the high road with this post. It helps establish you as a reasonable person with a compelling argument. Isn't that right, Mr Poopypants?

Are we still seriously having a discussion about 3PV? I'm sorry, but out of all the stuff one could reasonably complain about (weapon balance, hit detection, matchmaking, weight balance, delay in UI2.0 and CW, etc.), 3PV seems like a total non-issue. Despite all the dire warnings of the cataclysmic destruction it would have on the game, it seems to be an almost total non-factor in determining the outcome of any game.

Don't get me wrong. I still don't like the way they went about things, but the gameplay element itself seems completely inconsequential and I've played a LOT of matches against a LOT of good players since it was introduced.

Here's a recent thread where some of the reasons why 3PV is an issue, from a gameplay standpoint, is problematic. Of course, the thread was K-towned for no good reason.

The main issue is that it allows you to see around corners and over hills without risking damage or radar detection. This completely throws the sensor/scouting game, eliminates the risk/reward equation for sniping/urban brawling/etc. and ruins one of the best (IMO) improvements in MWO relative to MW4 (LoS based radar).

An easy solution that doesn't involve removing 3PV would be to go with a WoT solution: don't render mechs/weapon fire that you don't have LoS to. This would eliminate any gameplay issues with 3PV, and would still allow players to see their paints and new players to see their legs.

I see how the system can be abused don't get me wrong but I don't think it has really affected things that much.... No one really uses it. My issue is more that they said they would never add it and did, that statement never should have been made.

At the moment I don't care if it is in the game or not.

1. Let people use 3PV in training rooms to their hearts content.

2. Keep non-training matches to 1PV
