I'm playing because Hawken got boring really quick, and I'm also burnt out from playing too much World of Tanks. Mech combat is a pretty niche market, and so it's not like I'm playing it because it's set in the Mechwarrior universe, it's more that there is little direct competition and the competition isn't exactly great.

I'll direct you to the first edit in my OP :)

I keep hoping the game will be more than a simply 10 minute match against people I dont know for electronic bills that mean nothing in the real world. I am hoping they make it a game that deals in the taking of worlds and the fight for territory based upon the actions of the players. There is so much potential and so little is being utilized.

I didn't vote any of the options, because none are the true reason I'm playing. If there was a mech game that wasn't mechwarrior at all, but had better mechanics I would be playing it. I'm playing because I think it's fairly good overall and I see quite a bit of potential with the current development ideas going forward.

Look, I can't say i'm a fan of PGI or what they are doing to the game. Can't say i like or agree with the decisions they are making. I also can't say that i'm a fan of those 5+ losses in a row, wich happens very frequently, or playing with random people against organized groups. But i know that deep deep inside this is a great game, and that it's going to keep growing. I'm interested in the potential of the game and i like it. I like many things in MWO and i will probably keep playing it, but i'll play it less and less as i get frustrated.

Look, don't vote MWO just because there's no alternative. If that is really your statement then you're clearly only playing because it's MW.

No, I voted because it is MW.

I could not care about this PGI version. Its the best version due to new technology and graphics, but it is lacking A LOT compared to any other previous MW game.

Maybe I have no place in saying my opinion since I only spent MC once to get mech bays.... but I will not pay for anything else until the game feels competent and the prices are lower.

$120 for the high phoenix package. $30 if you want two new mechs.... Really? Do you know how much can I do with $150 game wise on ebay?

Game is still pretty fun, despite IGPGI's continuing efforts to make it less fun. Plus, Star Citizen dogfighting module isn't out yet :) (When it is, I might very well keep playing MWO if it's better than SC - I don't really have any particular grudge or anything.)

Everybody participating in testing and even being a part of the community that greets new players and provides them with frequent games, and not a ghost town on servers, has the right to express their opinion.

Simple. Are you playing because this game is called Mechwarrior Online or because it has Mechwarrior in its name?

THAT is a darn good question.

I don't give a s#!t that it's online. The fact that I have to connect to the internet to play a game (when it's taking up a zillion gigabytes on my computer) is a crock as far as I'm concerned. I'd just as soon have a "MechWarrior 5" or "MechCommander 3" with single-player missions, that's self-contained on my computer. You can't have server lag if there's no server, and then you don't need "host state rewind", or a lot of PGIs other monkeybusiness. Playing with 2 game modes, each with contrived and implausible objectives, with 2 teams of headless chickens, is a quirk I lived with for the sake of playing with BattleTech robots. (I must really like BattleTech robots.)

I keep hoping PGI doesn't butcher it any worse, but if I had high hopes for that, I might have played some time in the last 10 days.

Playing it because it's the better mech combat game currently. Couldn't get into Gundam Online since they blocked NA internet users. Hawken felt less like a mech game more like your average FPS.

Was too poor to afford Battletech table top, but I played Mechwarrior video games, especially Mechwarrior 2 lol. So it's nice to get into a game I couldn't really get into before. And I find the combat more to my liking.

I actually really like MWO based on it's strengths. The core gameplay of shooting mechs is really fun. Easily more fun than I've ever had in PvP with any of the other MW games.

Am I disappointed there's not much more to it than that? Yeah. But I'm still having tons of fun just shooting things because the core gameplay is that good. And at least for now I'm pretty satisfied with that. It probably helps that I don't binge on the game to the extent that it leaves me burnt out.

Here's some anecdotal evidence to show I'm not just BSing. I used to be really into Mechcommander. I played it all the time. Logged on to MPlayer a lot and all that jazz. To this day I think it's still one of my favourite games of all time. Not just within the BT universe. So Mechcommander 2 gets announced. I start hyping myself up for it pretty hard. It comes out. I'm underwhelmed. It's not that the game was bad. But it simply doesn't compare to the standards that the original set. After I'm done messing around with it, I have no problem simply walking away. So MW/BT or not, I'm not going to spend too much time on something I don't find particularly enjoyable. MWO is still extremely enjoyable to me.

I'm playing because it's not a death match mode that rewards people to run in and die repeatedly for one objective, respawning 10 - 30 times a match.

I have not dropped since the 22nd. There's no reason for me to drop, as I have all the assaults (end-game avatars) ground out, and nothing to use my GXP or c-bills on.

I beat the game. Now I'm playing DX3.

I do believe the complete failure of the Heavy Gear Assault kickstarter answers your question quite nicely. Even now it's 14% of a goal a LOT less than Mwo was starting to fund after the kickstarter was a fail to launch, and it's one of the true "other options" if you've totally lost faith in this one. Even has some of the MW:LL team on the development........

Need an option for both. This way whatever I vote for can't be skewed.. Course it seems like the OP has a slight agenda, even admits to it. So no matter how the results come back, they'll simply frame them in the manner that correlates with their point.

Because frankly I like MechWarrior and I like how it was Portrayed here in MechWarrior Online. The weapons look and feel like what I think they should be. The mechs themselves look outstanding. If you saw the original artwork for the Stalker, Jagermech, and Trebuchet, you'd know what I mean.

Is there issues? Absolutely. There's things I don't like. But no game is perfect, even among my favorite games. But compared to the pros and cons for previous titles of MW, the pros outweigh the cons for me thus far.

I also like the fact that PGI isn't afraid to try something. People don't like the heatscale or the upcoming gauss rifle change. I'm sort of on the fence about them personally. But from my coding experience, I can say that I'm intrigued by the results of such. I'm glad their willing to test something rather then tweak with the status quo. Could they simply make PPCs slower than Gauss? Absolutely. And if the delay fire fails, they might. But at least they get a mechanic they can use to balance weapons in the future (aka Clan and/or 3060 era weapons), without obsoleting the base weapons.

you cant make everyone happy all of the time. There is things I like, and things I hope get changed, just like any gamer who enjoys a franchise.

The difference is some of us have class and manners when attempting to move forward, while others....don't.

Still playing because its a fun game, and I don't have the 50mil cbill reserve that I need to buy 3x annihilators when they get released at some point. The haters probably form about 20% of the forum (if you go by post spam lol) and the forum represents about 10-20% of the playerbase. Its annoying because they drowned out decent suggestions and flood legit threads with mindless drool.

On forums it's always a minority that post the most. That does'nt generally mean the unposting players disagree with the sentiments tho. A lot of players in our unit will not even look at the forums as they think it's a troll infested cesspit of abuse, but most of those have deep reservations about several of the recent changes.
