Is it alright to have 25 accounts in the hope one will get a beta key or should I close 24 of them? ;)

Seriously, i don't have 25, I have one. But I'm curious to how many have more than one and what percentage of this forums users are duplicates. I have more than one computer, I'm a web developer so can use an endless number of domains for email address and so on.

Care to speculate?

Also, what are the chances of someone having getting 2 x beta access, I'm thinking low but still, not impossible right?

Is it cheating? (I think so, i think it is an abuse of the service)

well if you can do it, go for it I say but as you mentioned, what if you get two invites?

as for the chances of getting an invite, well the more accounts you have the bigger your net to catch one BUT on the Math side your chaces become smaller as each account has the same chance to get picked as any other account. if there are 10 accounts and you have one of them you have a one in ten chance, if you open ten more accounts you have a one in twenty chance but you have that 10 times. and again, what if you do get more than one invite?

Your call I say but I think you have the same chance with one or twenty five accounts. especially with over 100k accounts to pick from.

This right here

Very unfair to others, and yeah people should not do it. I know one guy who did, not sure if he got found out or not, but still a bad idea.

For every person who thinks to ask whether this is ethical or not, there are a hundred people who just do it and don't give a damn.

why would you want more than one account, just to be included in the beta when the game should be open to all in a month! The game is a "free to play" and "skill based" although you can spend a little real money to buy some stuff so for me if i spend money to buy stuff it will be all in one account, if I gain skill it will all be applied all to one account, as for this game I think putting all your eggs in one basket is a good idea, just me though ;)

You mean sub domains? You still have to buy domain registration if you want an email response back. Plus they probably blacklist unregistered domains.

On top of that, the mail server would still have the same IP, so they could flag them with a quick query and purge them all.

There is no cheating - Comstar either allows it or destroys you ;)

I figure they can tell which accounts have the same IP addresses logging in to the to check on beta status, so I'm betting having multiple accounts usually ends up in the person being removed from the drawing. Or I hope this happened to at least one cheater.

Well, there are no contests, no site you could claim it from if you are fast enough, only lottery. Im playing with the thought myself, because i want to have a chance to test it before exam-preparations roll in.

Not necessarily. Universities, companies, and even some low level (10th tier?) ISP's have very limited IP address pools (and use NAT instead of subnetting). So if 5 co-workers all sign up at work, they all have the same IP. It's impossible to tell that apart from one person signing up 5 times.

But if one person signs up with 25 gmail accounts, and starts logging in on them, it becomes very obvious very fast ;)

If it can be done, it will be done. Real simple. There are even people who do this "professionally" and then sell the beta accounts.

This. There are even whole message-boards out there with the sole purpose of trading/selling beta-accounts for various games. The human greed knows no bounds in things like this.

IMO, it's not cheating. It might be unethical but not cheating. You're using the system exactly as it was designed.

Right now I have 3 accounts. I opened the first under the name I have always used in every MW incarnation that has been out (except for MPBT: 3025 where the special characters weren't allowed).
I opened another account under this current name so someone wouldn't try and claim it under a unit they didn't belong to, and opened another under DC_Havoc which was the name I went by while playing MPBT:3025 and several members here may or not remember me by.

If by some stupid fluke all 3 accounts get invited to beta (none of them have BTW, damnit.) am I cheating because I have more that 1 account opened?

PGI won't let me delete the other accounts, and they won't let me rename the one I was using that they decided to rename for me. Am I cheating because I created another account(s) with names that I have also used in the past so that someone who may or may not play/behave in a respective manner (or even worse than I do) cannot use that name and cause confusion/strife?

Well, you don't have to register all accounts for Beta, do you?

Your in the UK as far as i've seen only North America can get in so you can make a million accounts and your still not getting in.

(states in the Operation Inception that beta and early access - for buying Op Incep - ) however i think the Inception pack is getting into general release after a staff post saying wait for some good news.
