my jenners KDR is even higher than my spiders, but no one ever complains about jenners...haha.

Yeah, I have a higher KDR in my Commandos than in my Spiders as well, and I don't think I've ever heard anyone complain about Commandos (at least not since the 200kph lag-the-server-to-death Commando disappeared from closed beta).

Personally, I think this is blown out of all proportion. Yes, there are hit registration issues, but the Spider doesn't seem to be any worse in that regard than any other chassis (at least I die as often or more in my Spiders as I do in any other 'mech). What probably makes it seem that way is that it's such a tiny target and moves so fast - and it's built like the Centurion, so it has damage transfer working in its favour as well, in addition to just being damn hard to hit in the first place.

The Spider hit box is still broken. I pilot a commando a lot and I take damage correctly. No one complains about the commando being god like. The Spider is 5 tons more so in theory it should have a little bigger hit box. It takes for ever for me to damage the friggin thing. Way too long. Mean while my armor is changing color in short order. It's broken PGI...get it fixed.

Because I've been playing this game since the second wave of close beta and have done done my own tests on the spider. I pilot the thing my self. It's a hit box. PGI even has said so...any other questions?

REALLY... lets see a link to that commentary from PGI stating it's the hitbox. :-)
....and detail these tests of yours.

Don't read well do you?

Spiders are not being ignored, there are some major improvements to host state rewind in today's patch so we are waiting to see the impact of those changes before any hit-box adjustments are made. Please feel free to comment later today after the patch if you still see the same issues.

All that says is they made some changes to the host-rewind, ie: HSR...they want to see the impact before any hitbox changes are made. That does not say there are hitbox issues... now granted we know of the 'gap'... but I don't think that's the 'big' issue everyone refers to either. We can also note the date of that post was '03 September 2013 - 11:03 AM'... betting their still checking/messing with the hsr/host-rewind.

Well said.

I run both spider and jenner. I dont see a huge difference in the survivability especially considering the spidy has ECM. I don't seem to have that much harder time putting down spiders than other lights either.

@Mehlan

Humm, your post are nothing but sophistry. PGI will end up tweaking the hitbox. I just wish they would do it sooner rather than later. :D

hardly. You stated pgi had said spider hitboxes were broken. The post you reffered to does not state that. You claim you tested it and have yet to state how much less provide empirical data from these claimed tests. In short your full of it.

Had a game last night with 5 spiders on my team alone. Have never seen so many of the things. People are taking advantage - thats for sure.

I have a great idea. How about instead of fixing the spider like the devs said they would a month ago they leave them as is and make them a trial mech so that there are even more of them on the battlefield? I think that would be an excellent solution to the problem. By the way please remember to buy PGI's new $40 atlas.

The problem is that 'fixing' the Spider hitboxes would mean making them much larger than the mech. Which means that, as a fix, it's basically just giving crutches to pilots who only drop in builds effective against heavies and assaults.
Drop in any light, any fast medium, or a fast heavy like the Quickdraw. Spiders will suddenly become the weakest mech on the field.
Maybe even play as a team, and encourage your own lights to provide screening against enemy lights.

Or just drop with armour.

It turns out Spiders are already balanced by virtue of not having the ability to deal damage. Artificially increasing Spider deathrates will put the Spider back to where it used to be - a mech that you struggle to do 100 damage with, or live longer than 5 minutes.

I don't know why pig ignores the problem and even endorses it at the grand opening when they said an atlas fears the sight of some spiders coming his way. Of course with all the problems with them you can't hit them. And the hacks lights use is ridicules. You can find the hacks so easy. I would never use them but please pgi just do a google search go to the site. Buy the program then reverse engineer it. Instead of scratching your heads thinking it can't happen.

Has a Legendary Founder just accused all lights of using cheats? I guess that *is* the only explanation for how they avoid his gauss ERPPC combo...

Yep, and of course no video or any other kind of supporting evidence.

Look, you people with no ping can hit spiders, I am sorry that I live in Australia, it is such a disgrace to live here and yet want to play and support a game that I grew up with. From my own personal experience at around 260ping, I can hit everything with HSR, there is no real problem there, however with the spider none of my hits seem to register unless they are standing still. Leading the target does not seem to work, hitting straight on does not work. I am fine with every mech, except spiders which I cannot hit, which is just plain stupid and is bringing my gaming experience down.

There was a time were you could hit any scout mech straight on
but then they "optimized" the netcode :D
was pretty funny with jagbombs hunting scouts who dont survive the first encounter
so i say buckle up and let scouts scout!
