What is so bad about this patch? People have been calling for changes to PPCs for awhile now.

Garth, You guys did awesome this patch and I believe that the PPC adjustments are perfect.

Normal PPC's don't fire under 90m due to the field inhibitor so having them do 0 is the next best thing, also restoring PPC's to there normal heat values is perfect.

I don't like the Guass charge up time but I haven't played with it yet.

HSR seems ALOT BETTER!

I've always been a fan of PPC's and have always felt that returning them to the TT values was the easiest fix for them. Slowing the projectile speed? Not all that necessary and it actually reduces their effectiveness at range, which was their biggest value. Especially now that you've raised their heat back up, you don't really want to brawl with them. However, be that as it may, I think they'll still be fairly effective.

Question, are user cfg files disabled? I'm noticing that a lot of the lighting effects I turned off are back, and it's giving my computer a bit of indigestion.

However, I think PGI has gone and broken Guass Rifles. Time delay on charge, not an issue, 1.25 seconds to use that charge? What soldier is going to take a difficult to use weapon like that into combat. The charge limit isn't an issue in a brawl, but fighting at range is what the Guass Rifle is good for. I know I'll be going back to brawler builds with regular ballistics. Guass Rifles are broken imo. EDIT: especially when you consider that targets at range are fleeting at best.

If I can SRM you with missile doors that take 0.5s to open, I think I can Gauss you with a weapon that takes 0.75s to warm up...

PPC were never meant to be a brawling weapon. Thats what people had been using them for in CB so of course they over heated and such. PGI fixed HSR they should have been put back to TT values at that time. This changes things for the better as far as this game goes.

Regards

I give it a week before snipers will be all but phased out of the game. If that's for the better, then it just makes me lose faith in the game and its community even more.

He was probably one of "those guys" that were saying that PPC+Gauss was lagit and told others who had a problem with it to L2P. Now that the shoe is on the other foot is probably the reason why he's all p!ssy.

Its not that bad actually, I was very sceptical at first about it as well but after going into the testing grounds and, well, testing it, its fine. My only suggestion would to extend the charge duration from 1.25 to a full 2 sec.

Can we have a test server with no ghost heat and these changes plz? With the PPC and Gauss changes, the majority of the pinpoint striking is fixed. Then we can just say Ghost Heat was just an interim fix while other changes were worked on, forget about it and move on?

Please?

Please!
(and give us Hardcore queues)

The PPC and ERPPC changes you added are just plain stupid and make the game less enjoyable. The PPC and ERPPC had already been very. very under-powered and now they are essentially worthless. The slowing of the round makes hitting with them at the ranges they are designed for near impossible, and the fact they do NO DAMAGE at close range is just made up BS not at all in line with the actual source material. Why do you keep screwing things up? Just make the frickin game and watch how people play it. Don't ruin things because you have nothing better to do. If you feel like you need something to occupy your idle hands, how about destructible environments and an economy similar to the first and most beloved version of this franchise?

I took my Gauss+ERPPC combo Misery out into the field and I have to say it is absolutely fantastic!
Finally.
Finally.
Finally.
Actually having to wait to use the Gauss with the charge up time added a very nice immersive feel to it. Rather would have seen a one or two second recycle time with a slug reload time added on top rather than a charge timer. Added to that, would have been the fact that in TT, firing a Gauss took so much power, it temporarily shut down your mech. THAT would have been a much better touch in my opinion.

All in all, fantastic mech added to the patch. PPC+Gauss combo has been hit in the head with a steel bat and is floundering on the floor dying.
Great patch. SOME faith restored.

As stated the charge time isn't an issue in a brawl (where you use SRM's and now Guass rifles). It's at range where your targets are fleeting. We can all just brawl, I prefer brawling to sniping, however, being able to engage at range effectively is an important facet of this game. You can't do that anymore with guass rifles. Even so the charge time wouldn't be an issue if there wasn't an extremely short window (1.25 seconds) to use that charge time.

Good god, they actually made Advanced Zoom work. Clearly, they've been sitting on this solution until the Gauss+2PPC meta was cleaned up; with lots of them running around, people would be getting headshot left and right.

And, no - the PPC/Gauss thing wasn't necessarily overpowered, but it *was* just too good. There weren't good choices, because the two weapons synergised so very well together to be the ultimate sniping setup and - and this is the important part - an extremely effective brawling configuration as well.

You can still run Gauss+2PPC's, and it still works well, but it's a pure sniper setup and absolutely disadvantaged up close. *shrugs* Just makes for more viable choices. Much like how a pure brawler setup is worthless at long range.

You can have your cake or you can eat it. Pick one.

Or; take LL's, and midrange autocannons and go for having a pie AND eating it. Not as good at sniping, not as good at brawling, but useable everywhere.

For the record my Cat's name is Orion and he was born in 2011(Maine ****). It has nothing do the with Mech's, I named him after the constelation Orion(Astronomy buff).

I've been asked 100 times if I was waiting for the Orion mech during matches...

Happy Patch Day! Congratulations: last playable build was brutally murdered by PGI. Thank you very much, suckers, who yelling and bitching about "those horrible old masters". Your noisy complaints successfully drags this game to the abyss of absurd.

Good patch, but why increase the leg movement speed?? Now I can't stop thinking of

And by the way, the paint job on the Orion is absolutely dreadful, it looks like a traffic cone.....
