I see everybody is in some way excited about the new PPC's.
Have any of you tried it in the testing grounds outside of combat?
It is heart breaking. On Tera Therma and Frozen City with Jagermech with pair of PPCs

If you shut down due to heat of the PPC, you are take damage to the reactor - Yellow.
More than three shutdowns - Red
Shutdowns are suppose to prevent damage????

Now PPC = suicide.

Also hitting a Cat A1 8x During a game with no damage taken.
Good knowing you PPC now you are a dangerous waste to me.

The mechanics r correct. Based on the Table Top game ERPPCs have no min range penalty and PPCs have a 3 hex (90m) penalty. It's fair. But for the love of God DHSs should be double.

A minor addition to that Statement. The Penalty for minimum range influences your chance to hit the Target. The Damage is the same regardless of the Distance.
A Charge-up Delay for the PPC would have made more sense to me than for the Gauss-Rifle.

The standard PPC is pretty much fine as is, maybe the projectile velocity could go back to 2000 m/s.
ERPPC however is too hot to use as a pair.

PGI two patches ago when you applied your unfinished heat scale PPC's were perfect. Still usable, but made it to where you had to be careful and know your weapon to use it effectively.

Instead you bend knee to all the whining cannon fodder and ruin the natural predator to missile boats and other snipers.

PGI, what are you doing?? PGI STAHP!

Also removing damage within 90 meters... it was ineffective as it was, it was basically a way to get them to overheat.

Stop Nerfing Everything!

Revert the ppc's to the way they were after introducing the heat scale multiplier, after that patch I was one of the FEW enthusiasts still using them. Now even I've abandoned them.

and fix AC2's! WTF?

If their place is on the shelf, then yes they have been put back in their place. No one is using them bud.

I've been finding that, since the new patch, I've been surviving a lot longer in combat. Instead of dropping after only one singular hit, I can survive for several moments in a fight. I'd have to say it's working as intended (till someone finds the next ubber build).

Personally, from my own use of ERPPCs, I think they are right where they are suppose to be now. I had to remove my LRMs on my Dragon for more sinks to keep my ERPPC cool enough. And while I wait for my mech to cool down, I shoot my LBxAC10 for a while.

PPCs though I feel took too much of a hit with this update, and they have now been seriously shelved by a lot of people. PPCs are only useful in a really good team setting, as in a solo style of play (PUG), either you will accidentally get to close and not realize it, end up boating the PPC (which I never would have recommended anyway), or you will have opponents (like me) who will see you have a dual PPC and a Gauss, laugh, and charge into your face.

PPCs I think need to get the linear decline of damage back when under 90m. Beyond that, I feel that weapon balance as of right now feels good. Gauss changes, if anything, I feel actually makes me more accurate and actually able to conserve more ammo (even if it is more confusing for newer players). Still feel that the recharge time needs to be pulled out longer, like 2.0 seconds instead of 2.5 seconds.

I think they went too far with both the Gauss and PPC changes, and will have to adjust both back to make the weapons competitive again.

For PPC/ERPPC, I don't mind the heat (though I wish DHS were actually double), but the reduced shot velocity combined with the high heat has made them suboptimal. A week after the patch I'm seeing a lot of ERLL and LL and far, far fewer PPCs.

Personally, I'm all for leaving the heat alone, fixing the shot velocity back to at least close to what it was, and removing the Ghost Heat from the game.

I used to be an ERPPC user on my Victor-9B, but I've since switched to using AC20+LL builds or dual UAC5 builds. They are the new flavor of the month afterall! It's so funny that I can just walk out into the open towards a sniper these days without fear of dying. Forget about using cover, playing tactically is for losers. It's all about just rushin' out in the open and being a brawla', you know what I'm sayin'? Snipers are lucky to get more than 3 volleys on me before overheating, so I can easily just walk right up to them and then a$$-gape them with lasers and ballistics. it's especially bad on some of our largest maps (which also happen to be the hottest) like terra therma and tourmaline, because sniping would actually be useful there.

Thanks PGI. This game is more fun than ever.
