Wow. Just wow.

If the game was ready to go into open beta, they'd launch open beta. They're not giving out limited numbers of beta keys just to be mean; they're doing it because the servers aren't ready for all of the people who want to play.

While I agree that the big yellow "Pending" sign is such a tease, the fact that we are getting a free online Mechwarriors game is enough for me. While getting into the beta would be awesome, ill be happy so long as I eventually get to enjoy the feeling of causing mayhem in a battle mech once more.

i for one took this hurry up and wait scenario as a chance to go back and replay every title since MW:3, unfortunatly that only takes about 14 hours round trip. Man, i dotn care what anyone says, pirates moon was good times. I always knew my lance mates were scum in that game, always sitting around in the middle of battle, dilly dallying on their way to the MFB's, i'm onto you Domonic you horses ***...
uh but yeah, no beta key, that sucks bro, u mad?

I think it just has more to do with the fact "Pending" is just dangled in everyones face.

A simple sorry you're not who we want/need for the beta message would make alot of people happier longterm, then they can move on until the game is released.

Do you always get upset when you dont win after buying a lottery ticket? No?

The only difference is that this ticket is for free.

Can't believe I'm going to waste my first post on this, but this "insite" is just asking for it.

Hey Devs this isnt meant to be a flame just some insite from a fan of your game.

Like many here Im excited and googley eyed over the prosepcts of this game but to be honest this whole Beta thing is starting to put a damper on my experience. I cant help but feel slighted every time I see that hundreds of invites went out just to open my email to nothing, or log in to see the insanity of the PENDING flag as if it were burned into my screen mocking me.

Why are hundreds of others privledged enough to participate while I am not? I am no better or no worse than any other person interested in your game. No qualifications have ever been posted for the Beta, so I have to assume everyone that can run the game qualifies. This is not the way to welcome the community to your game, this is anything BUT welcoming. Its incredibly annoying actually.

This is like opening an ice cream store, inviting everyone in and then giving some free ice cream while the others who didnt get any have to sit and watch. The funny part is then you ask those that were made to sit and watch others get preferential treatment to buy the product.

To be honest, I wanted to buy the product, I planned to buy the product, but after weeks of being snubbed and having to witness hundreds of others receive a priviledge that apperently Im not entitled to Im sure you can understand why Im justifiably put off.

In my opinion you should look to those that were invited to the Beta to buy your Founders Packages. If Im not good enough for your beta then perhaps the Founders Package is too good for me also.

I suppose some will respond that this is the nature of a Beta, which my response would be wake up and smell the coffee. Times have changed. There are F2P games, and crazy good ones, around every corner. The smart ones don't upset the customers just before launch..especially if they want them to buy. I've been part of both the World of Warplanes Alpha, AND Guild Wars 2 Beta. Did I just get "lucky"? Or are there ways to run Betas so that its clear cut who gets in and why ...not some random sillyness that serves to upset people and went out with WOW subscriptions.

Thanks for your time.

1. This is beta. The main point of which is to find bugs, glitches and other problems. They have no need for 5000 people reporting the same problem when the first batch of 500 players can find it, leave them to work on it, and release the next build to check for stability before opening it up to more players. This is like giving away free ice cream in limited amounts over a certain period of time so people can give feedback on the quality of the product. Your post basically amounts to "I WANT MY FREE ICE CREAM NOW". You said you're no more or less qualified than any other players in the forum? Then you wait in line with the rest of us.

2. The beta testers are chosen at "random". For all we know, they separate them into categories of specs, high, mid, low and randomly pick and choose from each category so they have a mix. You might be no more qualified than any of those players, you might just be unlucky. Don't blame the devs for that.

3. Statistics and probability. How many people registered for the beta? How many beta keys have been released? I wouldn't want to play with you in any games that involve any sort of random numbers, you'd probably gripe every time you get a lousy dice roll or poor hand.

WalkingDeathBot: There's a Planetside 2? I need to check this out, thanks!

This seems to be a popular theory. Maybe its true I dunno ...but if it IS true it doesnt make sense because you assume they are picking people with elite specs whereas I am sure they have gone to GREAT lengths to attempt to make this game playable by a variety of specs .

I think they would be more interested on how the game performs on an average system, wouldnt they want to know that too? It just makes sense. Therefore really almost anyone should qualify and that nonselnse that you have to have an elite system to qualify is hogwash.

I've participated in enough betas to know this is true.

What makes you assume they're picking powerful computers? That's the point of knowing our specs.

"This week, we really need people with mid level ATI cards, tweak the selection to only include those guys and select 200 people with those specs."

But my question is how many of these keys go to people who are even paying attention anymore ? and how many of these users have made multiple accounts to improve their odds of getting in ?

counterpoint to people who forgot about the game. roughly 5 days before the first wave of keys went out. the system specs part of the form went up. people who forgot they signed up wont have filled that in and most likely arnt eligible for selection.

Not to draw attention to your entitlement post but they did tweet today and post on facebook that they are getting very close to releasing minimum system specs. This sounds to me that they are indeed inviting people who have a range of systems and every batch may intentionally include a great number of mediocre systems to dial this information in.
Note to self: Should make extra forum profile with back up machine(s)

Would you prefer the devs/CMs spend time checking each account to make sure they're still paying attention and aren't duplicate accounts? Easiest way would be checking post history and date of last post. Sure it'll get rid of some of them, but then people would get around it by pasting some banal nonsense just so they have recent posts and still stay in the running.

Psh, I don't know what you guys are mad about, I've gotten like 6 beta keys already, I got all my systems up and running, with slave circuitry feeding off the main computer, heck, I got my own star with one in reserve. I will not stop until I have a warehouse filled with computers, AI pilots and all, and watch my forces march uniformly over every ounce of competition out there.

Mwahahahahahahahahaha!

Disclaimer: The author of this post is a sarcastic *****, and by no means has any beta access, let alone six computers.

Would it be preferable if we do not announce each time we send out keys? I ask sincerely. Because there are many that deserve to be in beta that we just wont be able to invite in. We only have so much server space as we continue to beef up our back end making it capable of many thousands of concurrent players. Were getting there fast but we do have to pace ourselves.

Keep doing what you're doing, it builds anticipation, this is the most fun I've ever had on a forum, and heck I'm not even playing the game yet.

The other games I'm waiting to get beta keys for, I don't bother to check their forums, why?

Cause the devs don't care and don't write to us crazy peons. We like you guys teasing us, some of us just don't know it yet. Don't listen to us crazy goons, were all just mech crazy and chomping at the bit.

Well you were right about one thing .......Your first post was a waste.

Sometimes its nite, sometimes night. Sometimes its website, sometimes websight. I hope to one day be as smart as you.
