I'm sure PGI wants as many people in as possible and is not intending it to be a slight on anyone who is not chosen.

However, unfortunately , they have set criteria right now that probably changes from invite to invite. I would imagine all hardware ranges and experience levels are allowed into the beta in order to test the game play experience.

Please be patient.

Cheers.

Russ is very right. If they just gave out a key to all of us it would set them back because they simply cannot handle the load. Also bug reports from a small % of us is easier to use than 200-300k reports of a mech finding a hole in the ground and finding null space.

This seems to be a popular theory. Maybe its true I dunno ...but if it IS true it doesnt make sense because you assume they are picking people with elite specs whereas I am sure they have gone to GREAT lengths to attempt to make this game playable by a variety of specs .

I think they would be more interested on how the game performs on an average system, wouldnt they want to know that too? It just makes sense. Therefore really almost anyone should qualify and that nonselnse that you have to have an elite system to qualify is hogwash.

I am running a specced out laptop (SLI graphics, 2920XM, SSD) that is faster than most desktop. I don't see the randomness of the beta keys being dependent on your computer specifications.

An invitation to a beta is certainly a privilege and not a right. However, it would be nice if the people who registered first having a bigger chance of getting into the beta based on their registration date. From a business point of view those people are also the clientele that will most likely pledge to buy the Founders packages. It's kind of depressing to see newcomers getting beta keys instead of us MW veterans who have been waiting since MW4 (or MW3 for the purists).

In addition, my opinion is that there are more than 500 newcomers who registers everyday, which makes the chances slimmer with each passing day. Also, what preventive measures are taken to prevent people from registering using multiple email accounts to increase their chance of being a beta testers? I believe these are concerns that should be addressed if possible (not affecting the release date) to ensure some form of fairness.

That being said, I am very thankful that the Devs have created this game in the first place. I am really excited about this game, giggling like a farm boy on his first date with an agriculture mech. Please pardon our mild manners. Being dispossessed for more than 10 years have proven to be detrimental to a mechwarrior's well being. Researched and proven at the NAIS.

Would it be preferable if we do not announce each time we send out keys? I ask sincerely. Because there are many that deserve to be in beta that we just wont be able to invite in. We only have so much server space as we continue to beef up our back end making it capable of many thousands of concurrent players. Were getting there fast but we do have to pace ourselves.

Believe it or not, I think alot of us understand that. I feel that some of us are just SO DANG EXCITED to finally have a new MW game coming, that it can be a little hard to hold back some times.

Fear not, for I believe most of us have faith, you and your company seem to be doing an amazing job with the content that we've seen, and we looked forward to seeing more.

I personally, prefer it if you did release when you sent out a batch of keys. Why you might ask? Shows me how quickly the game is ramping up.

Yeah well it's best to go find other games to play and other things to enjoy and just keep any MW related stuff off of your mind. Im extremely excited about this game as well, but I visit the website rarely and I just try to keep MWO out of my mind because the anxiety over the game is just killer.

/shrugs/ Personally, I've stopped caring because the chance of getting in is negligible. So much so that I've made the following suggestion:

Russ, I sincerely appreciate your question. After a few moments of thought, yes I do believe if you removed the pending and didnt advertise the 500 new invites that I didnt get then I think life would just go on as usual because what I dont know wont bother me.

Thanks

I beg of you NO! Don't stop!

Yes there are dissenters on the forums, but I rather enjoy the daily announcement of when keys went out. Especially with Paul getting creative about when he kicks the server!!! It's entertaining to say the least.

People here just need to accept IT IS A PROCESS, and in no way are they entitled to a closed beta key, especially when you have announced a package that guarantees them access in just over a month.

For now they should appreciate we have developers that interact with us so much and are even willing to put in the time to announce when they release beta keys. I know I for one do love it and really hope you don't let a few posts here and there discourage you from doing so.

Good, bad, or otherwise... If the system is truly random, then you have a chance to get a code. Kind of like getting a lottery ticket, everyone is hoping. As did the first poster, I asked for the Alphas and Betas of the same games and was denied so..... He got lucky, I did not. Relax all, when the game comes full circle it will be a good product that we will all enjoy. I cant wait either but alas, here I sit as humble as ever.

You shouldn't be because they shouldn't even tell you to begin with.

No one should "know" anyone with a beta key ideally. I understand that there may be exceptions to the rule (wives, children, etc.).

I'm with Skadi, as frustratingly addicting as these status is, it's uplifting to see that server space is being ramped up via new beta access numbers. Kudos guys and looking forward to A) buying my founder's package and ;) playing July 17th!

As others have posted. please DO keep announcing when keys are released. If people can't accept the fact that their chances are slim at getting in, and that at least we KNOW when to check our e-mails, then they're probably too impatient to fill out bug report forms, or actually test while playing.

Keep up the good work Russ, we all love you here! Do not buy into the few who decide to be angry that they're not invited.

EDIT: And I think that's the key word here that we're forgetting. INVITED. Being invited should be considered an honor and a privilege, not a right because you think you're a bigger fan than someone else or because you have less patience, or because you have a better computer, etc.

Please, get a grip on yourself. Lord help you in the game of real life if you feel slighted over a game and
can't wait 30 odd days without falling apart. Really, do you know how trivial these posts makes you sound.

We all know you want in the beta now, pretty much everyone does, but give the beta thing a rest and post something
else. Hell, insult one of the houses, get some death threats going for when the game starts.
