Hey know whats worst then not getting into the beta for the game you really really want to play? Getting Beta invites to a game you don't even play.

This will answer the whole topic:
It's 100% random. They aren't, in any way, trying to leave you out while giving everyone else a chance. I sometimes feel the same you do, in fact I kind of do right now, but just be patient. You're not nearly the only person that has to wait.

Off topic: Why the hell does anyone even care? This is a closed beta meant for TESTING. I know for a FACT, there's no one out there who care THIS much to get into the closed beta, just to test the game. The want to play it for fun. Just wait for god's sake.

Back on topic: I do think they have released the closed beta invites way too early to be honest, they should've waited just a little bit more into the summer, that way it isn't that bad of a wait.

There are a Lot of us that would like to access to the beta but do not at this time. Just sit back & relax it all we can do right now. IF we get in we get in if not than we don't. No need to fret over it.

Patience is a virtue,My young friend.Take solace in the fact that there are 100.000 others out there that are waiting for a chance to play, just like you.

my opinion is that games are released to fast, or there were not enough real dedicated testers to start with. beta should not be a giant joygasam because you are going to be a few weeks ahead in the learning curve. It is the time to try and do strange things just to see if you can, to look maps over very well, to try loadouts that seem to yell broken!
Mektek was always damned for taking so long to release new patches but never used enough of the right kinds of beta testers it seemed. And with every release there were complaints, bugs found by the few, broken mechs/weps. that it only bred more whining, then came patches over the next however many days. patches that would wind up perplexing non savvy players many times. i remember a large patch that they rushed an idoit proof installer out for, the installer was bad! fixed within a day or two but anyone remember the crap Mektek took for that? lol
Take all the time you need Russ.

Well you were right about one thing .......Your first post was a waste.

Sometimes its nite, sometimes night. Sometimes its website, sometimes websight. I hope to one day be as smart as you.

Hey, I'm not the one trying to pass off being passed over a beta key as a personal slight by the game developers. Typo aside, nothing in your post adds anything of substance to the discussion. You yourself admitted that you have absolutely nothing to add to the beta that other players can't provide, before going off on why it's not fair other people got a beta key when you didn't.

No accounting for random selection, no knowledge of the criteria used for said selection, just a collection of words that basically amount to "I should get in the beta now." Nice touch not bothering to address the rest of my reply too.

Ok really. Try to have a since of humor here. The hardcore mech pilots have mobbed this Beta testing. Not every one gets to win the lottary either. The facts are that only a small number of pilots will be able to beta test. I am just happy that there is an updated Mech Warrior game.

I beg to differ, and no offense intended. But I think this is much more like a new brand of ice cream coming out, and letting it be known that they need taste-testers. They have a limited quantity of a few test flavors, and are making more - but only small amounts, till they make sure that they have solid and marketable flavors. Then they get an overwhelming number of folks volunteering to taste test, more than they can handle. So they pick a few folks at random, and then a few more, and yet more... with the goal eventually being that they have great flavors and can go to full production, at which point anyone can buy their ice cream.

See how that is a bit different than the situation you describe? They aren't trying to be mean, but they are excited about this as much as we are - maybe more, since their livelihoods depend on it :)

Lets look at the great idea of "random". I'd like to see the stats of all the 1 week 1 post beta wonders in 6 months. More than half will evaporate the minute any random new game hits. The people who've been F5ing the WHOLE internet for 10 years to see if there is gonna be another mech game will still be here then. But by the same logic, you can completely ignore all ancient F5'ers for keys, they aren't going anywhere. Will they get ticked off, sure! Will they bail? HA! All you gotta do is apologize or throw a scapegoat at us (don't expect the scapegoat back in less than 170k pieces). Major league bad idea to include as eligible for beta anyone joining the week of MAY 25. Because after beta, when there is no NDA to break... that particular demographic will be hunted to extinction. So, again, back to the same numbers that half of them will be gone in 6 months, but realistically... more. The worst move was to even announce BETA EXISTED on a game THIS watched by starved, rabid werefans. Next, the announcement of paltry key releases. Finally the May 25th cattle call in a move to double the (TEMPORARY) fanbase came close to a last straw for many. As much excitement for this game as there is, it is matched by fear that the game will be run into the ground soon after release. The past 19 days have created more fears than they have set aside. Time will tell.

@Poundcake

i no how you feel i too have done alpha and beta testing of 10 diff games and in fact i also no 3 ppl who got into beta (no they did not tell me i no them in RL and walked in on them when they where playing.) 1 of them got his key 2 days after i told him to sign up.

so i do no how you feel but i can't hold it agasint any of the dev's or the game.
the fact is if u made some new what ever thing you would choose some of your freiands and family to try it NOT ALL but some i no this when i was wrighting novels so i also understand where they are coming from.

we just have to hang in there may be get a key may be not and if not then when it comes time to think do i want to buy this think about every thing they have showen us the vids the pics and NOT the beta as that should little to no impact on your decison.

I'm guessing you had one hell of a proof reader. Your grammar is worse than my own.

Its kind of annoying that some random person who may have signed up on a whim and then forgotten about the game entirely may get a key and not even be interested, though im sure they are figuring out how many keys to send out with the understanding that a certain percent wont be used.

Still some sort of requirement like 'you must have at least 1 forum post within a week of each batch being sent out to quality for that batch' would ensure that at least people who are somewhat keeping an eye on things would get selected over people who may not even remember they signed up for a beta in the first place.

Would it be preferable if we do not announce each time we send out keys? I ask sincerely. Because there are many that deserve to be in beta that we just wont be able to invite in. We only have so much server space as we continue to beef up our back end making it capable of many thousands of concurrent players. Were getting there fast but we do have to pace ourselves.

Please announce when you send out keys. I like to know, since you asked my opinion. Thank you. :)

Sincerely Yours,

Orion Pirate. :o

P.S. Thank you for your concern and attention on this matter! :D

Keep announcing the key releases. Keep trolling/joking around. Have fun with it, for serious. As far as the people that are whining, well.. just going to have to ignore them. Sure the community is absolutely wanting to get in, but that's a good problem to have. Some people will threaten "leaving" over not having Beta access.. well, those are people you didn't want testing for you anyway.

Hey Devs this isnt meant to be a flame just some insite from a fan of your game.

Like many here Im excited and googley eyed over the prosepcts of this game but to be honest this whole Beta thing is starting to put a damper on my experience. I cant help but feel slighted every time I see that hundreds of invites went out just to open my email to nothing, or log in to see the insanity of the PENDING flag as if it were burned into my screen mocking me.

Why are hundreds of others privledged enough to participate while I am not? I am no better or no worse than any other person interested in your game. No qualifications have ever been posted for the Beta, so I have to assume everyone that can run the game qualifies. This is not the way to welcome the community to your game, this is anything BUT welcoming. Its incredibly annoying actually.

This is like opening an ice cream store, inviting everyone in and then giving some free ice cream while the others who didnt get any have to sit and watch. The funny part is then you ask those that were made to sit and watch others get preferential treatment to buy the product.

To be honest, I wanted to buy the product, I planned to buy the product, but after weeks of being snubbed and having to witness hundreds of others receive a priviledge that apperently Im not entitled to Im sure you can understand why Im justifiably put off.

In my opinion you should look to those that were invited to the Beta to buy your Founders Packages. If Im not good enough for your beta then perhaps the Founders Package is too good for me also.

I suppose some will respond that this is the nature of a Beta, which my response would be wake up and smell the coffee. Times have changed. There are F2P games, and crazy good ones, around every corner. The smart ones don't upset the customers just before launch..especially if they want them to buy. I've been part of both the World of Warplanes Alpha, AND Guild Wars 2 Beta. Did I just get "lucky"? Or are there ways to run Betas so that its clear cut who gets in and why ...not some random sillyness that serves to upset people and went out with WOW subscriptions.

Thanks for your time.

Closed Beta is a random draw, although people whio have filled out their beta app in its entirety have more chance than those who have not. Basically with the current number of registered users on the site if 500 keys are sent out then we each have about 0.3% chance of getting one.

I am sure we would all love to dive into some Mech action ASAP but then such an uncontrolled flood of people being dropped on the game is what open beta's are all about.

What makes you any different from the hordes of others moaning about not getting beta invites?

Just be patient. Waiting is only something you do if you have nothing to occupy yourself with.

Do you guys realize how long it would take them release keys if they had to read every single application. Hmmmm......lets see, ..........I realize there should be ways to filter this and such, but I mean really cmon, let's not waste their time with all this whining, it is just a waste of their energy to deal with our QQing on the forums.
