Not me. I spent the money because it was an Assault mech with Jumpjets, and I grew fond of the kill music.
Adjust your build is the only advice that I can offer.

The problem being (regardless of your original wording of the options) is that your poll assumes the only viable ballistic for the HM is the Gauss. You have 2 ballistic hardpoints in that arm. You could use twin AC5, AC5 & UAC5, twin AC2, AC10 and AC2, or LB-10X & AC2. Or even MGs (why would be beyond me, but whatever). So, no, the HM has NOT been ruined. I do not like the changes to Gauss, at all. But I won't even go so far as to say the Gauss is ruined. So, still perfectly usable mech has been ruined by changes to a weapon that did not ruin it? Is the Atlas ruined because of the Gauss changes? The Cataphract? The Jagermech? Catapult? Dragon? Centurion? If none of those are ruined, than why should it be just the HM? Would you have PGI issue refunds on every mech with a ballistic hardpoint?

Two days later they delayed collision.
The Gauss change is nothing compared to that.

I can understand being upset, but your reaction is a bit over the top.
Hell, I had my CN9-A rigged up with a 250 STD engine, Gauss, 3 tons ammo, 2 MLs, endo, ferro, the rest armor. I didn't even upgrade to double heat sinks, didn't need them. It was a reasonably mobile medium sniper. I liked it. After the Gauss change I found it to be nearly unplayable. I didn't want to change it, but I did. (Swapped the Gauss for an AC2, 3 Streaks, Beagle, upgraded heat sinks.) I don't even want to look at my HGN-733 right now, It was great as it was. And I don't want to deal with the disappointment of one of my favorite mechs being Nerf-hammered like that.

Yes I want a hug will you give me one?
Do you own a hero mech? No!
Did i say i use the stock loadout? No!
Is Gauss the best ballistic for Metal? Yes!
I run a HM as my primary mech. It will take me a bit of getting used to to make the gauss work again with my long range playstyle, but due to the velocity increase I think it will actually be better once I am used to it. The heat increase on ERPPC's was actually a bit more problematic for me and forced me to mount standard PPC's to deal with the heat. This obviously means getting a little closer to my target without getting too close.
By the way. If you are using large lasers as your energy weapon you may be better off with an AC10 instead of the gauss. It has better DPS and its range meshes very well with LL. Only drawback is slightly more heat generation, and the need to be accurate more often to get the most out of it.

If i could put an ac20 on the HM i would be more than happy.

My main load outs were 3 llas + Gauss / 3 mplas + 2 srm 6 + Gauss.
I personally feel deflated that this mechs main weapon is NERFED!
HGN ac20 VS HGN Gauss ....who wins in close range and what does more damage.
This needs to be fixed I feel like an MC refund please only Heavy Metal / Dragon Slayer / Misery pilots need answer.

It is also the dragon slayer and Misery that were sold with Gauss more MC NERFED!
That picture you used... the Heavy Metal has no lasers in its torso. Also, I personally didnt care for the gauss changes. So I changed to something else. And I like that something else a heck of a lot better then I like the original gauss, so win!
A buddy of mine has his gauss paired with a large laser now. By time the laser is finished firing, the gauss is ready to fire. Seems to work well for him.

As far as the new Gauze rifle goes, it took all of about 2 games to get the feel for the new mechanic... I found some shots were easier to make given the new projectile speed. Less leading meant more hits... once I learned the timing of the charge.
I pretty much liken this to any modern day shooter game that has a sniper... you press the key to hold your breath... steady the scope.. and fire. No more brawling with gauze, but meh I'm ok with that as now the weapon is fitting into its intended role.
I realize the gut reaction is "omg it changed... rawr pitchforks cursing QQ rage" But had the Gauze rifle been introduced like this from day one would there have been a huge uproar about it? I don't think so.
So to answer your poll about the hero mechs? Did it ruin the Hero Highlander or any mech from mid to close range brawling? no... because those mechs especially the Hero versions all have other weapon systems to fill the role of upclose brawling... that is why they are assault mechs... they bristle with different weapons good across different engagement ranges. Did it prevent the Gauze rifle from being a hipshot brawling weapon itself, yes. But I go back to the dreaded thing called the Table Top... where the Gauze rifle had a min range of 2 hexes.
My opinion and of course I'm just white knighting here which means argument invalid, besides I pronounce it gauze rifle... so what do I know?

TL;DR
no

Yeah, but that would probably make it better than the 733C. PGI has been very careful to make Heroes different from c-bill mechs without making them better. Helps avoid P2W accusations. (Honestly, I think half of the Heroes are P2L, but that's just my observation.)

Trust me Hm and others are not P2W they are unique and you earn a little bonus that's it.

You should have made the poll biased if you wanted a particular outcome. Or just skipped the poll and made a sweet arguement to the Devs explaining how you see this as a bait and switch against their valued customers (by valued I mean the ones willing to pay money for big expensive mechs).
