As I understand it the point of using the UAC/5 is to fire till you jam it. Even accounting for jamming, you get a higher DPS than using a macro with the new lower jam rate. Plus you can hide while the guns unjam and rinse - repeat

UAC boats are only OP when you stand in their LOS and let them smash your face in.

Hell I've learned how to lead and pick off light mechs easier with UAC5's... do player skill now need a nerf?! The Jam rate should never have been reduced, so not sure why they did it other then to give players another brawling based weapon to push them out of the Guass/PPC loads.

Yea, I was being a bit excessive and dramatic for effect . What you said was 100% right though when it comes to the ridge line. I think almost all of us can agree that the OP practiced poor tactics and decision making at the time of his "face melting". Instead of blaming the game, he should re-evaluate his practices and gain a bit more experience.

If they do nerf it, the jam rate should go in between where the UAC5s were and where they are now (wasn't it like 25% and now its 15%?). Though the heat idea is interesting, a longer jam might do too, if you felt they needed further nurfing.
I never used the UAC5 on my mechs till they lowered the jam rate, and would stop again if they raised it back to where it was before.

Get rid of the single fire option. Now no one can macro the uac due to the forced double fire rate. It's just like how the LBX was not given the ability to fire standard rounds.
Still will be decent with the reduced jam (which is important so that the gun doesn't jam the very first shot), but now it has a pure niche that doesn't overlap with the AC5.

1) increase the UAC/5's cooldown to 1.5, so it fires single shots at the same rate as the AC/5, just like in tabletop, which consequently also prevents macro abuse.
2) decrease the UAC/5 jam rate to 10%, because with the cooldown of 1.5, double shots would be balanced with only 10% jam.
Jamming should be an uncommon occurrence because no one in their right mind would design a weapon that jams 25% of the time. Even 10% is too often, but thats whats required to balance the UAC/5 at 1.5 cooldown.

No, seriously. UAC5s suck to get pounded by, but don't try and tank that **** to your face and you'll live.
I think the UAC5's in this game are... ********... seriously? Double tap? The lore states the pilots toggle between a rate of fire equal to a regular AC in it's class without the jamming or double the ROF with a chance to jam.
I STILL get jams without even having a single shot fire with the damnable thing.
