So what kind of music do you think they should go with this game? The orchestral MW4 score or the Electronic Rock of MW2: Mercs? I, for one, would love the moody electronic music of the older games.

How about you guys?

Not only important, but incredibly difficult for someone like me, who loves epic orchestral every bit as much as every variant of rock!
A good blend of them would make me eargasm. Different music selections in different situations, for example. Having some Two Steps from Hell playing in the midst of an epic battle would really set the mood.

Recruit the guys who made the music for the MW2 series and let them make a new set of tracks for a new Mechwarrior.

And remix the ones from MW2! :)

The Mechwarrior 2 soundtrack was perfect from the get-go. Just use that :)

Dubstep!

Let's get Skrillex to remix the MW2 soundtrack.
For those who are old enough to remember Syndicate:

I'm actually not a fan of orchestral bgm in games or movies. I do listen to classical music on its own but in other media it seems to come across as either too loud and detracting from the experience or completely unmemorable (mostly :), yes I would recognize the theme from E.T. or whatever).

I do remember the MW2 tracks though and liked them quite a bit.

i've yet to play an online game where I acutally left the music on. But if I'm dreaming just fill the game with queen tracks and call it a win

Whatever is included, it will not make everybody happy. so...

1. Put music in that seems to be a good fit. (Don't spend ridiculous amounts of money or time on it)
2. Give players the option to control the music volume separately from other sounds.
3. Take a page from Eve Online (and probabaly a number of others) and make it possible for players to play their own tracks instead.

Do all three of those, then individuals can make it they way they want it.

Bring back the MW2 soundtrack! It just felt perfect for stomping around in a giant death machine

They should allow for custom music playlists.

Though as long as they include Hunter from MW4 I'll be happy

*sigh* dubstep does not suit MW... This is a wargame, not some dance club

I liked the style they had in MW:2 Mercenaries.

Sorta like a techno rock.

Good point, Hunter (as well as some of the other driving rock pieces) from MW4 is pretty good. Toss that stuff in with the MW2 soundtrack and I'll be a happy camper.

i know this would never happen, but it would be amazing if we could play a soundtrack of outside songs like we had a small music player in the cockpit.

Turn in game music off, and play your media player in the back ground...

Show Yoko Kanno plenty of background material and give her free reign to compose whatever she deems appropriate. Problem solved.
