That's ALL this game is. Sad really. Shooting stompy robots is fun for a while but PGI better get their ***** going on some sort of real gameplay.

And his opinion is any different or skewed?

I agree with him... what is this game but a few maps, a few mechs and TDM nearly every game. Has this game changed since Closed Beta? Nope still the same gameplay and a few more mechs and maps with few of 'features' added that don't change the experience at all... and that is TDM.

I've actually been here for a year with many matches, but i am frustrated by the fact there is really nothing new. Sure, new mechs...all for revenue generation. Where is the revenue going?? Obviously not to gameplay. (I wonder what kind of cars the devs drive?) I've spent about $150 on this game hoping my money would be well spent, i'm not really satisfed with the results. Just my two cents. Flame me if you will. People will vote with their wallets i suppose. The founders did and look what happened!

What ... are you saying that all the weapons changes of the past year was merely smoke and mirrors so that people feel like something has been happening?

the saddest part is that all they have to show since CB is maps and mechs. the only game improvement has been bug fixes and weapon "balancing"

To be fair, most multiplayer games these days can be reduced to some variation of "kill" or "go get a flag" of some kind.

You joined in January of this year, so unless you have multiple accounts your a little off.

Yeah until i see something worth buying again(Project Phoenix does not apply and is upsetting to me, Founders 2.0)all my spendable cash is going to Star Citizen. Because at least i'll be able to run it...i haven't been able to run MWO since the April 2nd patch.

Ignoring maps, mechs and the mechlab the raw gameplay its self is 100% the way I remember it the day I logged in for the very first time somewhere around a 1yearish ago (sometime after the raven came but before the cicada and phract were released)

Conquest is only really assault with more bases to stand on.

Closed beta came and went, hero mechs came out, new maps, new mechs, paints, cammo, new cockpit items, modules, consumables.... The only real new things I can think of gameplay wise that got added were ECM...(no comment there) the seismic sensor (wallhack2.0), the mech slopes thing, and the continual beating of the dead horse on the jumpjet mechanic.

Otherwise its stand in a box or last man standing, there are so many many other game modes out there that other MOBA aka multiplayer online battle arena games use (face it without CW thats all it is) or even a new game mode could be invented but nope have new shinys to buy with MC while you play the same game mode...

The trick is having that stompy robot shooting thingy being fun long enough to fool the reviewers, I think.
Of course, could be I underestimate reviewers. Or overestimate the launch of other games. Most MMOs have a poor start, after all. Unstable, server overloaded, "no endgame content".

But even if I think of STO, which didn't have a good start either, it at least had lots of story missions (for the Feds). I don't know, maybe that's the wrong game to compare to. WOT supposedly started with very little, too.

Game modes are severely limited.

That being said:

Even if there were 10 different game types, you would eventually say, "where is the variety". It is the nature of the beast.

What does Mechwarrior Online have in common with?
Team Fortress 2
Halo
Call of Duty
Unreal Tournament
Battlefield

They are all Blue vs Red.

MWO's game mode is more closely matched with WOT, not any of those games Hex.

Hell, MWO's conquest mode is nothing similar to even Battlefield. Its all WoT, WoT everywhere. So why in the world does this game need WoT game modes.

In all honestly... I do appreciate the expressed befuddlement regarding the shallow pool of "game-modes".

That said, the "end-game" regardless of the game-mode is the kill or be killed... It's not like we will ever have a rich story driven roleplaying'esk meaning to anything that comes out of CW.

Like I told my son... If you're expecting Shakespeare from a 2nd grade play... you're going to be sorely disappointed.

MW:O is big stompy humaniod war machines battling other big stompy war machines... Macbeth it's not. :P

Come to think of it, now would be a great time to release the game into Open Beta.
