I've run my C1 kitty for a long time and it is still my most used 'mech in the stable. I run 2x lrm15s, 4x mlas, xl300, bap, 4x jj. I'm a strong supporter of bap + jjs because of the synergy of roles that allows the cat to play, i also run adv sensors, target decay and 360 retention.
The LRM catapult requires a lock to operate effectively as well as a position of low threat to operate in for maximum effect, these two reasons guide my decision to use the combo of jjs and bap.
The position of the enemy team should guide your own position on the battlefield, but how can you position yourself if you don't know where they are? With the huge sensor range of bap + adv sensor, you can in some maps find a close high point, max out your jump jets and get every target on your half of the map and with furious use of the target key relay this information to your team. Role 1: Radar based scout.
Now we know where they are going and can use likely points to take advantage of your enhanced targeting to outrange the enemy for a first launch advantage, with any luck your team has noticed where you marked out the enemy force and is moving to engage. I usually move back to a support position at this point to lrm the brawling mechs or position myself to light up my own targets and take advantage of artemis. Role 2: Indirect fire support
By now battle has been joined and eventually you will run out of ammo or need to support the team in the fight, 4mlas is a reasonable offensive weapon and used in conjunction with lrms (provided you didnt go bingo previously) to soften targets on your approach and jjs to increase your survivability and tactical options , you can fight quite well and retreat when you don't think the odds are in your favour. Role 3: Opportunistic Fighter.
I hope this has been helpful to some of you if you are considering the mighty C1 as the kitty of choice.

I don't run the CAT anymore for LRM support due to its low tonnage.

There seems to be two LRM styles that I see. One is the Boat where you fire off big salvos of 40-90 LRM's at once and the other is a small stream of LRM5 salvo's.

The Bigger the Salvo the more effective the damage is with AMS on almost everything now. The small stream of salvo's are for cockpit shake and forcing cover.

I will only use the LRM5 stream builds with fast chaser or long distance poking mechs. But a true Support boat tosses up the biggest number of missiles it can at once all match long IMO.

is there a mech that can fire 90 lrms at once?

Sure. You could, in theory pack triple 15's into an -A1 Catapult for 45 missiles per arm for example.

You won't have anything else, and you'll burn ammo like mad- but booooy will you put a lot of missiles downrange.

The A1 used to be able to send 90 LRMs at once, now I think it will overheat?

Just a FYI too big of a salvo is only good for "Big" mechs. I only let off 40 at a time at heavies and up or unless I get the sweet spot for a alpha. I chain fire my 20's for med's and under and anything running fast.

but the a1 say it has 20 + 10 + 10 tubes (x2) so if you pack 15 + 15 + 15 won't it fire 15 + 10 + 10 (x2) so 70 missiles max in one big volley? i don't really seem to get it :)
