My take is that it's unnecessary, but not the worst balance decision ever. Looking forward to what they do to remove dicerolls from the equation entirely, myself.

Here's something: anyone who thinks the old gauss was balanced, and the new gauss is useless, is a low-skill player. No shame in that, but stronger weapons should require more skill to use, generally speaking. Before the recent changes, PPCs and Gauss Rifles were low-skill, high power weapons, while they are now medium/high-skill, high power weapons. Unfortunately, in the same patch, PGI decided to make the UAC5 (moderate skill, high-power) require less skill, and be more powerful, despite it being one of the better-balanced weapons in the game, if not a tiny bit too powerful.
i dissagree. sure the gauss takes a little more skill to use now but....why the hell would you bother. its just over complicating the game.
take a look at this post

personaly i dont give a **** if another person thinks i have less skill because ill use a UAC5 over a gauss. i just want to get out there kick *** and have some fun......i dont find the gauss fun to use any more. in the long run UAC5's will be nerfed to the point thay are not worth useing and people will move on the another weapon that is more effective and so the nerf cycle continues

if what your saying that the change to UAC5 will be that you can fire like a AC5 and only have a chance of jamming while double taping i dont see it as being a nerf. its probly the way it should realy be. the only thing missing there is the % of chance for jamming on the double tap.......or will there be some strange machenic for this instead?

you can't the arm servos get in the way. i think the best you can do is 2x UAC5 and 2x AC5, unless something has drastically changed since i last played a few weeks ago. a lot of players run 4x AC5 with chainfire because their rate of fire lines up almost perfectly with chainfire cool down.

Because it's even better than it was before and the high shot speed makes collecting headshots a lot easier?

as much as i hate to say it i think UAC5's will be added to the ghost heat list or there will be some bad game mechanic introduced.

i found the most times ive pulled off headshots is when im jump sniping and fireing down on mechs this can still be done with 2 ppc's and a AC10.but each for their own i guess.

Addendum: UT2k4 with the game speed mutator set to 150% and the weapons set to lightning guns only helps a lot. :3

like i said in the post you are refering to i dont find the gauss fun to use any more. i didnt have any troube geting head shots with gauss before the speed buff and concidering that i can still get a head shot with PPC and AC10 why would i wast my time with a weapon that has a dumb game mechanic just for that 1 reason?

Because twin Gauss Rifles are way better than a PPC/AC10 combo?

Excellent adjustment, but just curious for the jamming rate. Also, ammo should be increased to AC/5 levels.
The UAC/5 will be then in line with the other ballistcs.

this is the post that you conveniently quoted 1 line from oviously cause you just didnt like what i said and is possibly the general consensus of most people playing the game. either way im sure the guy a couple of posts up with the 4 UAC5 jager would be geting 10 kills to your 1 in your twin GR build.

Not trying to change your mind, just pointing out you present your opinion as fact when it most certainly isn't. Pointing your fallacious line of thinking isn't trolling either. The fact that you think it is points to a blatant problem on your end.

I can guarantee he won't due to the sole fact that quad UAC/5 Jagers are a gimmick build and easy to kill due to their very nature.

...they had a perfect opportunity to get rid of jam chance...
