at 25 second mark onthe video, it says "massive battles" and shows a screen with like 50 mechs running down caustic. Wait a seconds guys, it is 12v12....not 50v50. I call BS on this video a thousand times over.

I was wondering the same thing. Unless they are testing like 20 v 20, that part is pretty misleading.

Not sure if you were being serious, but I recently concluded I have to stop PUGing in order to stop spiking my blood pressure.

Perhaps this would be true of any only competitive game. However, in MWO it's worse... mostly because of dropping with noobs, getting consistently rolled by premades, and feeling like there's barely ever a chance of winning against fair odds.

(It's fine when I'm playing with friends, because they're experienced, and even when there's only four of us, there's a chance to win if we play well.)

Absolutely the same with me. I went to a dark place and had to get off the game. It was sucking every bit of enjoyment out of my personal time. Never seemed to get the game I wanted to finish out the evening on...so kind of a weird love-hate addiction. Every game was someone screaming insults at someone else, exploits galore, no way to deal with premades trolling noobs. No such thing as just a casual drop. I've been playing again for the past couple of weeks, but I feel another break coming on.

This game definitely disturbs my calm.

Oh, and "Massive mech combat" followed by ALL of the mechs in a match, not just one side, all coming down a slope in Caustic Valley, shooting all of their weapons at nothing.

Can you say "misrepresentation"? I knew you could.

Unfortunatley PGI does not care what anyone thinks anymore.

I am always amazed by all the negativity in this 'community'. Do you people realize how ridiculous you sound when you go off about how much you hate the game and then try to build credibility for yourself by listing how much you have spent or how many hours a day you play? If you really hate it then stop playing and spending money on the game. The only thing I think PGI has done wrong so far is, based on the demographic that seems to be make up the most vocal part of this community, they should change the name to "Whiny Neckbeard Warrior Online"

Because insulting those you disagree with is a real Pro Move.

What part of "We want the game they sold us" is so hard to understand?

Call it hate, call it negativity, call it what you will, but what it is... is an attempt to convince PGI to actually make good on those old promises. The quotes on money spent aren't to brag or inflate our value; they are to say "Hey, we are spending money, can you maybe put in some of those features you promised us that got us to spend money?"

Capiche?

There's never more than about 20 on the screen at once. Maybe they had both teams walk down the same hill?

EDIT: Actually, yeah, I think that's exactly what they did. Starting at 0:25 they start jumping from one side to the other, shot of "Team 1" and then "Team 2".... Riiiight at 0:37 it looks like "Team 1" is just about to run into "Team 2", but before it happens, cut to all caps.

Here's some helpful information for all the new players who have just joined us. Allow me to explain Ghost Heat using the official charts:

Got all that? By the way, even though this is a penalty on alpha-striking, it can also impact chain-fire mode. Follow this handy chart to understand wby you should alpha-strike with an AC\2 because chain-firing will give you a heat penalty:

You probably would have found these graphs and charts on the forum, on your own, but I figured I should help you out with them anyhow here in this launch announcement thread and this information is presented nowhere in-game.

Wait, that's...that's it?!?! Talk about underwhelming. I was expecting a hell of a lot more from "Launch Day".

This is just the soft launch (Minimum viable product). The hard launch (proper launch) won't be until the game is on Steam.

That's not true. The game could have been funded without founders money. Heck, they didn't start collecting money for Founders until well into the closed beta.

View PostXenok, on 17 September 2013 - 01:36 PM, said:

Actually it is true, the Venture Capital money was running out, and if they did not start to generate revenue the project was dead. Without the infusion of founders cash you would not have a game now. It was how they solved the problem of needing more money to get it off the ground and no Venture Capital funds willing to pony up. It was a good solution to the problem of funding to get through the gate.

Where is your source? Here is mine:
  • ‏@russ_bullock
    • Compare our 5.2M -founders program to Kickstart campaigns, we just concluded the most successful video game kickstart to ever.
  • @Direphoenix 17 Oct
    • @russ_bullock Wait, what? Since when was the Founder's Program a crowdsourcing campaign? Was MWO not going to happen w/o it?
  • @russ_bullock 17 Oct
    • @Direphoenix MWO was most certainly going to happen without the Founders Program. It allowd us to make better choices for quality, still does
The Founder's Program was just extra money. It was not needed to start the game (as in an actual kickstarter). It may have helped them do more things (like hire more people), but it was not required for the game to exist or even get it off the ground.

The people that bought Founders Packages (myself included) did not back the game. It was already backed. We bought items that signify that we took part in an early part of its development. That is all. The Founder's Packages are not donation/contribution rewards for kickstarter pledges, they are items/goods sold for profit.

Technically, they didn't lie. They said "Release is just a line in the sand". So I guess they're relying on WoM to do all their advertising for them, rather than have a huge sale on things and new content and something to make this exciting.

Wait! If you play 24 matches, you get a spinny shiny in your cockpit! Totally not trying to prop up the number of active users!

Congratulations on the launch, guys.

Even the haters are buying and playing — they know it, you know it. Keep on producing.
