In a subscription based game model, the casual gamers subsidize the game for the elite hardcore. In a free to play model, the hardcore gamers subsidize the game for everyone. In a free to play model, you're either a customer...or you're the content. You don't want to spend anything on a game you've been able to play for free? Great! Don't! You're still making them money just by logging in and giving folks like PharmEcis someone to shoot at.

It's insidious. Exploiting the tendency of consumers to rush like lemmings towards any "LIMITED TIME ONLY" doodad without thinking about why the doodad is there in the first place.

I basically have all Hero mechs, I've bought plenty of regular mechs for MC instead of grinding for them... Like I said, I hate the grind and if I want it now, I get it now. Many of the purchases were probably influenced by some sort of narcotic. I mean just look at my username! lol But to be fair, it's probably the hundreds of XP conversions that ate up a large chunk of it.

I actually liked the patch notes aside from the AC/2 being on the ghost heat list and no changes to pulse lasers. It was definitely disappointing from the context of a highly hyped "big day," but it's decent when compared to an average patch day.
