But there isn't an other game. That's why so many people are upset. PGI killed of MWLL and now there is no other option if because they screwed up up.

MWLL's still available to play, although I don't really know about its population.

Not good because of this (unedited farewell message), which means it's not going to be developed anymore;

Quote

To clarify how this situation came to be I'll go into a bit of detail about what's been happening behind the scenes to clear up any misconceptions. As Developers and Staff of Wandering Samurai Studios, we are, as of this point, no longer allowed to create future content based on the MechWarrior IP due to legal obligations on behalf of various rights holders. These rights holders own the Legally Binding, Non-Transferrable, Non-Commercial License Agreement with Microsoft and as of 2013 will no longer officially support the MechWarrior: Living Legends division of Wandering Samurai Studios. This is not a choice of the development team, this is a choice of the ownership and we have no control over the decision-making process. While we may not agree with the choice that must be made we respect their decision to make it, as without them, this project would have never come to fruition.

Except that now, seeing the patch, it's obvious that a review could have been done 3 days ago and it would still be 99% accurate. :(

Yeah, it is now, but who knows what theyre thinking, maybe they thought their patch is game changing. We all know theyre on an island.

They probably won't go for any kind of large marketing push until the upcoming major features are in.

Unlike Diablo 3, PGI/MWO doesn't have much of a previous reputation to use as a "good will mark" like Sony and Blizzard had.
It may be a good time to note that Blizzard just announced they are going to remove the RMAH and AH from Diablo3 due to the fact that players hated it and it ruined the game.

It sold me on the expansion because if they're willing to listen to the community on this issue rather than digging in their heels (3PV *cough*), there's reason to hope.

Like the kinds of features you'd want in a game at launch?

I think it's a fair guess that some factors forced them to declare the game launched now, whether that factor is IGP or something else. Historically, launch for most F2P games under constant development really doesn't mean all that much.

Well, right now the average raiting is sitting at 5.1 and I think that's fair. 50% positive/negative review for a 50% finished game.

To be fair, they only said that they'd start with TT rules and go from there. The majority (and vocal minority) opinion right now is to jettison the TT rules.

If they ever had TT rules in the game, it would balance out. They've yet to do it right once... They keep adding what wasn't there, they make devices work differently than TT is supposed to, they continue to flounder around like a fish on land gasping for funding because they are drowning in their own muck they've built upon themselves.

TT rules are fine for turn based dice roll games.

If MWO were a digital board gameblike Space Hulk which came out fairly recently then sticking to TT values would be smart.

But that's not what MWO is.

I find it really ironic that the loyal PGI crowd has posted repeatedly here and elsewhere about how the whiners, i.e. those of us who have disagreed about how great this game is supposed to be, are the ones who are destroying this game, pulling the game down on Metacritic, behaving as spoiled man children, and are generally responsible for the ongoing fall of mankind.

And yet, it seems to me that those who are pointing fingers at the those opposed to the current state of the game are the ones whining loudest, longest and are the least mature of the forum users that I have seen here today post launch.

Why don't we all behave like adults and cut out the name calling. We whiners have one opinion on the game that may disagree with yours. Deal with it.

That being said, I encourage everyone who shares and interest in this IP, good or bad or somewhere in between to Go to http://www.metacriti...hwarrior-online, post your opinion on the game be it yay, nay or otherwise and leave it at that.

Nevermind "Reviewing a game" within an hour of release.

Ok as much as I agree that some of those reviews are clearly a childish overreaction, that point has no validity because the game post release is the same game we've been playing for the last five weeks. We got NOT A SINGLE new feature with release so there is no need to play on for another 4 weeks before reviewing the game.

If I remember right, PGI tried to make a proper MW5, but no publisher would pick them up and they had to transition to what we have now.

We now might have a glimp why no publisher wanted to pick them up... :(

We've reached a point where both sides need to shake hands, say they're sorry, and work together for the future of MWO.

Unfortunately, both sides are frothing at the mouth and absolutely refuse to work together.

The rest of us are standing by hoping that this game doesn't die.

It's on the rise, as people flock over to MWLL to try something different. Also, with community events on the rise and NBT planetary pledging full support for MWLL , now is the time to play.

I think you've misunderstood the situation, a lot of previous players don't think there is a future for MWO, myself included. When the devs don't really care about what the community is asking for and instead call them the vocal minority, there's no turning back.

Not at all, some of us can only be disappointed so many times before giving up and stop believing in all the plans presented by the devs that are never fulfilled. Your thinking we need to change our minds doesn't change that fact.
