yeah, probably an XL though. =/
AS7-PseudoBoarsHead
so 400XL, had to leave 35.5 tons free for it, since I can't put bigger than a 360 in it, and the 2 medium lasers. And, the last 6 tons I put to DHS in the Engine.
400XL
18 DHS
576 Armor
AC10 (RT) w/60 rounds
LRM10 (LT) w/36 reloads
6x Medium Lasers (RA/LA)
Well,,, it would be interesting, at least. Also, enough Crits, that if one used an LB-10X, one could then add EndoSteel, and change the Mediums to Pulse.
Be curious how it goes.

Notable 'Mechs & MechWarriors:
MechWarrior Rodney Van Kleven A member of the elite 6th Syrtis Fusiliers, Rodney Van Kleven is an aristocrat with the instincts of a democrat. Extremely personable, he is well liked by everyone from fellow MechWarriors to the lowliest ship's cook.
On the battlefield, Van Kleven uses his Atlas, which he calls the Boar's Head, like a 100-ton scout. He stomps all over the field, creating general terror in the enemy lines and almost always overheating his 'Mech. He has won several land grants, but quickly loses the titles when his 'Mech overheats and shuts down on the battlefield.

Yeah, though I recognized the name. Cool for me. Hope it comes with a 350 or bigger stock then!
AS7-possibleboarshead?
left the 2 tons for the extra lasers. Heat efficiency should be about 32% I think, fitting with the "almost always overheating" part of the Fluff. I'd stomp about in it, I think.

In case you never heard of it:
#1. AS7-K3 - A modification of the K2, the K3 removed the two Streak SRM-6 launchers and replaced them with three jump jets and a Streak SRM-4 launcher, giving the AS7-K3 incredible maneuverability. Jump Jets..!!! ROFL

problem is that the Boar's Head is actually piloted by a totally different Warrior, as was brought out in a different thread.

It'll still savage Lights and Mediums, but be outgunned by most heavies and assaults.

I dunno, I beg to differ.
The agility bonus alone makes it worth considering.
Sure you may only have the weapons of a heavy mech but you'll have the speed and agility of one as well, not to mention the armor of an assault in the biggest way.
I've found that 350 STD engines in an Atlas make a huge difference, even though the weapon load out is simple the ability to actually "MOVE" and rock yourself in and out of cover or charge in when an opportunity presents itself is well worth the tonnage.
Though most people intentinaly target the Atlas's ballistic torso making an XL a risky investment. I think the if it has the potential to run a 400 XL I for one will be looking very hard at builds I can make with it.
Granted a lot of your firepower comes via the cheapest way possible. The almighty 1 ton medium laser.
Food for thought.

Why Don't Pgi fix Atlas - RS ??
That guy has 4 LAZORS on arms and you still can see only a single beam on each arm when you fire all of them?
Silly?
Isn't it?

I'm pretty sure that AC is in the left torso. Its looks like there's more than just 3 MLas so I'm guessing 3 energy hardpoints per arm... Gnarly.
Edit: Hammerfinn beat me to it!
AC/20 shoulder but smaller hunch...*dreams*

AS7-RS
After you add the other 2 Medium lasers, 10 tons left to play. Thing is you will probably need most of that in heatsinks.
Get back 36 tons with an XL, but sorry, only crazy people run XL Atlases.

Thats my thinking as well. It is already worth running the larger engine in the current models to be able to turn faster plus the speed boost. I think a 400xl in one might be interesting. I will mock some up in the online mechlabs first though just to see what kind of builds I can come up with.
