7500MC to skip the grind for an XL400 and an Atlas with Endo already equipped is nothing to sneeze at.

$31.22 equivalent if you buy the smallest package that has enough MC to buy this mech. You'll have 4,500 MC left to spend on any number of things.
Still insane for a single virtual item that arguably isn't really that much differing from any number of the other mechs purchasable for Cbills.
Don't understand how they get away with it and people buy these mechs in droves.
$5-15 MAX I could see...but pushing $30-45 is rediculous price point.

see WoT, Neverwinter Nights, Marvel Superheroes, and oh, most major titles for the answer to that. Seriously, WoT has a 95 USD irl tank, Marvel has multiple skins costing 20+ bucks, and Neverwinter Nights wan't 200 bucks for the joy of being a pseudo-Drow.
So honestly? Your argument kinda fails before it even get started.

I would never put an XL on an atlas.
This mech is just a huge waste of everything.
since they charge by the ton, and not the tech, would you prefer it have standard engine? 400XL is something to yank and use elsewhere, or sell.

It also has the largest possible engine for an Atlas so it is the fastest most maneuverable Atlas.

I agree with you about the XL engine set to the Atlas. But both 300 and 360 XL engines can be used for other mechs. With the nerf of c-bills I'm happy to get some expensive stuff with the hero mechs, but the XL 400 engine is not this case.

Who cares! What Atlas stays alive for the entire match with an XL engine?
It's nothing more than a Atlas K with 4 extra energy.
It's not worth 31 bucks. If it had 2 ballistic slots for a possible 2 AC20's then maybe it's worth it.

What I plan on doing is selling the XL400 since already have one, buying a standard 400 and using that with 2 large lasers and 4 mediums. should be fun.

That's one of my dirty little secrets as well...I ran my -D with an XL that very first grind-a-thon Tournament and placed ~13th IIRC...Was a very fun build. While never should an XL Atlas be recommended....experienced Atlas pilots can certainly have a blast playing them. Unlike newb reasons..Moar Firepower!!!!...It's all about the mobility. Nothing freaks out an opponent more than an atlas chasing you down
Well of course it is....whether or not that 'suicide' gets 4 kills, obnoxious damage numbers, and a slew of assists is totally dependant on pilot skill.
I would have no qualms on running this with a 400XL as my 'fun' Atlas build....too bad It's priced higher than my angst.
Boar's Head: (Fun Pugging Build Only)
400XL
Endo
17DHS
Gauss (Yes, Gauss and and an XL Pug Dangerously my Friends )
3 tons Gauss ammo (30 shots)
Artemis LRM20
2 tons ALRM ammo (18 volleys)
6x Medium Lasers
Perfect Pugging Strategy...Support with ALRMs and Gauss while everyone fiddle-fu#$s there way around....Brawl with 30 point ML Alphas and a 15 point Gauss (I have zero issues with the charge mechanic, although the DPS hit blows chunks)...Excellent mobility to keep up with the normal fiasco of ditching the slow assaults....I'd run it
I dont have issues with the new gauss mechanic either, but i'd rather run an ac20..asumming it'll fit, can't be bothered to look at smurfy and count boxes, or uac5's
have a feelng atalas arms are going to be the target of the week

But they didn't. All that is important is that they didn't get the Altas THEY wanted. Why does it matter if OTHER people actually like it?
Since the RS was always my favorite Atlas, a cbill bonus version that can go faster might be interesting. That said, I'll let a couple of Clan Mates play it first.

I have played lots of matches with an XL in an Atlas since I like to test things. You would be surpised how survivable they are with a big XL, smart use of cover, torso twisting, and the extra large weopons loadout because of the XL.
Now is it worth $31 maybe depends on the person and how they like to play. In other words will it be $31 worth of fun for some people.... Sure.

unless it also
- fixes light hitboxes
- re-implements knockdowns
- removes ghost heat
- fixes the UAC/5
- implements split queues
- implements a proper tutorial
- makes the MG not suck
- makes the SML not suck
- makes the flamer not suck
- makes DHS not mandatory for everymech to run efficiently
