Just to post ,there is a lot of good sh.t buried in the Archives.Good many decent topics/posts have been buried.

Almost every idea, thought, argument, debate, and troll flying through the forums now are things we were discussing in closed beta. That should tell you something about how far this game has come and what's changed in all that time. This is why many of is who were doing the white infighting two years ago are now black infighting and the former black knights have moved on and taken their money with them. Agree or disagree it's not a good thing to lose players willing and able to spend money. They didn't leave because of things like 3pv and ghost heat. They left because they lost faith in the dev team and just simply got bored with the repetitive gameplay

unless i lost this part among the wallsl of text, why would i pay someone to kill someone else in one single match?

I dunno, This had more consequence in EVE since you actually lost something when you died. Of course in EVE you would just have a friend kil you and share in the bounty which defeated the whole purpose.

I'm really glad they are still reaching high, but I'm quite worried this is going to turn into just more of the same. Missed deadlines, cut features, or additional convolution to force the economy aspects to 'play nice' with the way players will want to act. Having watched the video twice I am still not clear on how the clans will fit into this model other than the wolf's dragoons which sounds like the end game faction for everyone to join.

Parsing the language is also slightly alarming since he prefaced the economy release by saying that '4 engineers are going to freak out when they hear this', implying that their engineers still haven't received the design doc.

I'm going to re-purchase the phoenix pack that I had cancelled since they have at least taken it out of the 12v12's which I am finally getting into, but I'm seriously concerned we are in for more of the same - aim for the moon, hit new jersey as someone else so appropriately put it.

Seems like a good concept...

...but I only saw a powerpoint presentation. Really, they could have shown us that video a year ago. At this point you'd think there would be in-game footage.

I'm pretty sure that he had his notes for the talk on his phone and he was consulting them, not reading a tweet.

I'm sceptical about the whole concept of 4 engineers for 6 months = fully tested and implemented community warfare system with lobbies, planetary assault mechanics etc.

I really hope there will be some decay/penalty system for the loyalty score. Just adding points -- without factions worrying about work you do for their enemies -- feels much too simple.

Showing PowerPoint slides of concepts isn't exactly reassuring. By original roadmap we should already have CW but seems that absolutely nothing is implemented even at this point, just ideas thrown around.

What really effing bothers me about the whole thing is that they had an example without all the factions. He blamed it on some new guy while his gameplay balance person was playing on his phone playing "tetris". Heck, Russ was more concerned about something else on his phone while he was talking.

Yup this kind of nails how bad the heads of pgi really are, the power point that could make or break pheonix, backing and unltimately the product, and he's on the phone.

The fact I still play, still havn't cancelled Pheonix, is my desire to play Mechwarrior online, and I know I'll hate not having the fancy paint job verses being sensible and walking away.. I say verses because at time I do feel I'm at war with me comon sense

You don't start coding until you've got a somewhat solid design down. CW is very clearly still in the design phase.

No kidding! It took them 2 years to design a crappy powerpoint presentation. I've seen college freshman do better in in one night!

As pessimistic as I am about this game and it's progress, it feels good to hear people cheering and getting excited for it. We will see if PGI manages to pull through, hopefully this is a position that they do not change with time.

So you're telling me I'll have the ability to be a lone wolf bounty hunter?

Looks like a lot of great potential

I could have sworn I read a dev post long ago the stated something along the lines of decaying LPs so that someone couldn't grind to, as an example, "Colonel" and then sit idle for weeks on end reaping all the benefits while contributing little to nothing to the faction.

Time to go digging thru the archives again.

oh wait... it's what they said then which no longer applies now. nvm

Yes, originally LPs were going to decay. At the moment, its been announced that not even faction standing will decay. I sense this developing into the wrong kind of RPG.
