Just bought the K2 this morning and set it up like this.

My first and only match so far went pretty well. 2 kills, 3 assists and 450 damage. The alpha isn't huge but it cycles pretty quick and as soon the armor is gone those MGs go to work and its pretty devastating.

The 4xLLas builds look pretty interesting too.

May I suggest this option?

Faster, deals more damage, tougher, and added some energy backup that doesn't represent a heat management headache.

Made this one last night. I dubbed it the "doublebarrel"

CPLT-K2

CPLT-K2 - Pulse variation

move some armor to the back, of course.

I thought it would suck but I've been getting a minimum of 600 damage a match. And best of all it's fun :)

i am trying to find the right build.
I love the power of the dual gauss but it strips all of my armor off.
I have been using the 2 LL and 2 UAC/5 but it doesn't have the punch really.
I have done the 2 LL and 2 ERPPC but it ran too hot.
I have seen 2 LBX 10 and 4 ML
I have seen 2 AC/10 and 4 ML

I may try the bottom 2 builds to see which is the most effective.

2x uAC/5, 4x MLs, 7 tons of ammo, XL300.

I usually run the 2/ac10, 4 ml, xl300. Im no heavy pilot, but then i hang near the assaults i can wreck some stuff.

Ill have to try the Gausskitty, may be fun.

The build I run is actually a classic pre-heat scale one, but I've found it still performs VERY well.

Those four Large Lasers put out a lot of damage, and with the range module you can tickle people up to a kilometer away. You'll usually want to fire them two by two, but even a full four beam alpha doesn't strain your heat sinks as much as you might expect. This is definitely more of a support build, and the speed makes it an excellent flanker, allowing you to hit hard from unexpected places. It's a little fragile in a full-on brawl, so if you find yourself in one try to step back a bit and help bring down whatever the actual brawlers are shooting at. That said, if someone does sneak up on you the machine guns make duelling a lot more feasible, and they are great for finishing off wounded opponents.

I Don't think anyone here has mentioned my Dual AC-20's cat. I have played it since the bata and love it. Mine has 6 tons of ammo for its twin AC-20's and rips mechs up.

I think with the skill and moduel I am slinging shells 17% faster and the range moduel is also a nice bonus.

I've been using twin UAC5 and twin ERLL with an xl 255 engine. You don't need hyper-speed since the weapons all work at long range (although the real reason I was using a 255 instead of a 300 is that the mech that had the 255 worked better with a backup engine than the one with the 300).

I had some small lasers on it but I took them off for an AMS since they were a joke anyway.

Last night I loaded an AC 20 w 4 tons (cooldown mod), an MG with half ton, some medium pulse lasers, and a big standard engine. DHS, Endo, and have found it to be very enjoyable. Haven't shot less than 350 damage in 4 outings. Last was 600 damage. It's not a perfect build, but a lot of fun when enemies close range and get surprised.

i just came back recently (shortly before the quirkening and i used to love the k2) but now it just feels too damn squishy. This is probably due too the terrible hitboxes compared to all the new mechs. (well it always had terrible hitboxes but now its even more obvious). I realy want to like the k2 but i feel its kind of out of the competion and with the quirkening giving it ml quirks its even worse because i realy dont want to get in close with mls and huge hitboxes while getting outdpsed by basicly everything running around these days.

XL275, 2x UAC5, 2x ERLL, 2x ML. Do pretty decently with it, but it really depends on the tea. If tey all run/hide, you can't do much with this thing - too much attention, too big a mech.

When I was leveling my K2 I used the 4 ERLL build. Works well if you can avoid getting focused and can get some nice burns in.

Otherwise I use 2xERPPC 2x MPL 2x MG. Bit hot, but it lets me fend off overzealous lights and mediums as long as I have some backup.

^^ This.

This is the build I use. Close to the one above, but a bit more optimized.
