A kind of base cap tug of war? Could lead to some very interesting battles, but the added complexity would likely blow the minds of those that already lack the idea of "simple base protection" and would require the three lances on both sides work together, from further apart.

Yes thats kinda what I was thinking..less blobbing so to speak. And would resolve the issue (which admittedly is avoidable anyway) of both teams passing by each other and end up on their opposite caps.
