I will be going offline for most of the afternoon. I would like to meet some new players though . I do use the MTX MekPak 3.1 release 51.03.01.0030.

Another question: What is your favorite Mech and Weapon (extension packs welcome)

If I am offline, the post a post here and I will set up the server. I will change the Server Status literally the second I come online. Server name is Open House. Heat on, Unlimited Ammo off, All components.

Step one: Hit the Connect button (not mekmatch)

Step two: hit add

Step three: Copy and paste the Ident Tag

Step four: Look for server called Open House

Step five: Join (max 16 people, so hurry!)

It is very good for training. Just turn Unlimited Ammo off, splash damage on, heat on, and invincibility off.

I did for a day then went on vacation now it won't load so going to reinstall.never played mech games so it looks good for learning

I just got the game on MekTek. Download is a bit quirky. They have a link to the full game on their web site but it never worked for me. then I find the MekTek downloader thing and installed just fine.

Super fun, nice to play around in the mech lab, but I think the gear in MW4 is years and years ahead of what we get so it is a bit hard to start prebuilding. But it is fun and nice to dust off my HOTAS system and learn to use that instead of mouse.

I tried playing MW4 mercs yesterday, installed it and everything since its freeware now, but it wont load on Windows 7 Anyone know how to make it work?

Ugh. I have tried 3 times to get the MekTek version running on my Windows 7 box. It's a brand new Alienware. No matter what I do, I cannot get it running. I'll have to try putting VM Ware on here with an XP instance and see if that helps any.

My all-time Mech for the mekpak has definitely got to be the 2ERLL + Clan Gauss Shadow cat. Such a fun run and gun, and if you end up in a brawl, you can still hold your own.

I dont know if all of the people on this forum know where to play there old Mech type games but here it is
www.gameranger.com it is a simple version of the old MSN gamming zone.You can play MechCommander,MechCommander2,Mechwarrior3,Mechwarrior3 PiratesMoon,Mechwarrior4Vengeance,Mechwarrior4BlackKnight,Mechwarrior4Mercinaries,
Mechwarrior4MercinariesPR1,and the Mechwarrior4Mercenaries Free Mektek version also.

Here are the instructions to get the Mektek Free version to work on GameRanger

First go to gameranger.com download client and make account.The activation email will sometimes come in a junk folder.Activate your account and startup gameranger.
Visit www.mektek.net and download a free copy of Mechwarrior Mercinaries through the MTX or torrunt programs update it to version 3.1/30a-30c
Next go to your hardrive where your free copy of the Mektek mercinaries is installed(C:D:ECT\programfiles\mektek.net folder).
Next rename the folder(mektek.net)folder to (Mektek) delete the (.net).
Next go inside the newly renamed (mektek) folder and find the folder(Mercenaries-Mektek Mekpack)
Next rename the folder (Mercenaries-Mektek Mekpack) to (MercenariesMektek)all one word then go back to GameRanger on the gameranger bronze page go to edit then options find the game Mechwarrior Mercinaries on the games tab highlight it on list then hit the brows tab to open it point your link to your new C:\program files\mektek\MercinariesMektek\MW4mercs.exe
thats it now you can play on gameranger.

I would hope to see more of you on gameranger to let the community know where still here and ready to play MWO when it comes out.So dust off those old CD'S and lets rumble.IF no old cd's go to Mektek and grab the MTX downloader or torrents and install the free mercs version.

I don't recommend playing on the Mektek servers its all NHUA and hackers.

I don't know, I have an HP Pavilion and MW4 Mercs works well. I will be serving shortly, but not right now.

by "if I cant find mine" I am guessing you mean the discs?
The disc versions are not compatible with the "free version" from MekTek.
You will need the download their client MTX and install it. Then you can download the free MW4Mercs.
YOu will then need to let it update to current version (ending in 30).
The MTX client will do all this for you, but know ahead that the download is some 1.8gig and may take 15mins to 1 hour depending on your network speed and the numbers of seeds.
ALSO For Vista, WIN7 users (32 or 64 bit) you MUST install/run as admin.

I suggest that you download MTX, install then re-boot (seems to run smoother if you do so).
THen install the game, and the updates and reboot once more (you dont have to, but it does seem to help.
Remember, when it first starts up, you will need to allow Windows to "unblock" it from the firewall and go thru the EULA.
1st run of the game does take longer. Before the EULA, the "seetings screen comes up. Set them to your taste. Once the EULA is accepted the game will start up.

To play online, depending on your home set up (router, direct, or whatever) you may ahve to open some ports to join online servers. there are guides for this at MekTek.net (in the forums) and also at Sunderjunkies.com (in the forums and the mechlab sections).

HAve fun, play puretech, Heat On Limited Ammo Forced First Person (HOLA FFP) the ONLY way to mech.
Feel free to join us in Sunder II server or NBT Maps server. Great guys, lots of fun, we have teamspeak 2 and 3 comms running to (note to user the comms may be R rated, enter at your own risk, but its all in good fun)

i find it hard to accept that with as many have signed up here, there are not several units that can field the min # of peeps to play at ewarriorleagues or Netbattletech
the ladders at ewarrior only have 3v3 min for most drops with many styles of play, 1 match is 1 map, 30 mins and you can do a match without pre-arranging everything if you want just report it and confirm it
they have tried to fill the void left by Mechwarriorlegues.
Mercs4 is still a blast to me, it mostly depends on who you shooting at.
with all the mechs mektek has added it still is fun to try a new config against other players
I am a preferred brawler so if i had my way every map would be 600 meter range limit for weps and team only radar but i do long range and some jumping too.
