How well does the game play on a laptop? Thinking of putting it on the parents laptop so I can play the game while they watch television when we go see them. That and I can show it to friends and get them interested maybe.

Many run of the mill laptops will have mobile GPUs, which are not up to the task. I doubt your parents have a higher end gaming laptop with a sufficient GPU.

If you know the make & model we can make a guess, and when you get to your parents' house take a trip to http://www.systemreq...ntslab.com/cyri for an easy way to see if the laptop can pass the reqs.

Hey, I am trying to get my team ready for clan warfare, I am wondering can Mercs use both clan and Innersphere mechs since they don't belong to a particular house?

No. All mercs must be aligned with the Inner Sphere. The good news is, you are only limited to a house for the duration of your contract. The shortest contract length was going to be 1 month, but now it looks like it is going to be shorter. Check Paul's posts on Community Warfare under the Command Chair. Also, at the end of a contract, you can flip sides and not only swap houses, but swap to Clan allowing you to use your Clan Mechs only for the duration of that contract.

This is pretty much spot-on, but just to note: there are technically two different "Merc" factions - one for IS (Merc Corps), and one for Clans (Clan Loyalist).

Whichever one you choose, you'll have to accept a contract for one of the Houses (if you're an IS Merc Corp), or one of the Clans (if you opt for Clan Loyalist), and as the poster above me noted, your 'Mech choices will be limited to IS or Clan depending on which you choose.

They can share friendly 'Mechs' targeting data, so if an enemy is targeting you, and if that enemy is close enough to their turrets to pass along your targeting info, the turrets can shoot at you.

When enemy is attacking our base I keep telling to my teammates *press R !!!*

Also when attacking enemy base, try to get very close to missile turrets so they cannot shoot at You (bellow 180 m). Other turrets will target your teammates if You are not alone, so You can destroy missile turret unharmed. Pulse lasers are very effective to quickly destroy turrets and to receive less damage yourself..

The minimum range for LRM turrets is actually only 90 meters, not the normal 180.

Just wandering, is heat sink important? What exactly does it do?

Yes, it cools of your mech faster. every mech must have a minimum of 10. some or all of which are included in the engine depending on the engine rating. there are both single heat sinks and double heat sinks. 98% of all build will benefit from upgrading to doubles if they don't come that way stock.

Why is the patch bigger than the DL?

Because the download has basically never changed, so all of the (many, many) updates are in the patch.

The download simply installs the patcher. The patcher installs the actual game. Think of the patcher as being like a dispatcher for a truck company. Think of the stop points on routes as files. You don't usually have to replace the dispatcher even if you add or change 100 stops. You just have to adjust your trucks.

I'm not a new player however :P When I win the Victor 9S(c), do the skills of the normal 9S apply? Does it come fully grinded when you have the rest of the Victors?

(Never bothered with buying a Champion)

Just a small addition:
The number of Heatsinks also determines the Heat-Threshold (before emergency shut-down).
So, not only does your Mech cool down faster the more Heatsinks it has, it also takes longer before it reaches the emergency shutdown. Double heatsinks will yield a bigger increase in threshold than single heatsinks.

Champions all use the same skill tree as their regular variant. If you already have skills applied in the skill tree of the Champion Victor those same skill will be unlocked, and all mech variant XP will be attached.

^This

Check Newegg. I got a laptop with a dedicated card for @$500 that if i bought it at BestBuy would have run $1500.
I doubt you can get a laptop that can run MWO for less than $500 unless you buy it from a friend or build it.

UAV question:

Does its area of coverage increase the higher it is deployed?

I have an idea for Mining Collective with my Spider V flying wub. A very crazy and stupid idea.

Not sure if anyone could help me, but I recently installed the game. So when I star the launcher, I click "PATCH", brings me to a terms of agreement thing, but it won't let me accept it, so I cant patch the game. Any suggestions?

It may sounds silly - but have you scrolled through (and preferably read) the EULA?

Some EULAs will not let you "accept" until you have at least scrolled through it all

Yeah, I have scrolled through it
EDIT: Oh now I feel silly, I did scroll through it, but not all the way, I just thought I did.
