Did you catch his loadout?
5x Artemis SRM6 in your back can bring you dead very fast and is one of the quite dangerous builds of the Summoner.

I didn't get his loadout. He was close when he fired though - about 50m behind me. I really hate the sensor design of this game. A 70 ton mech shouldn't be able to sneak up on anything.

there are plenty of ways to build the summoner to give more than 42 points of alpha strike, which is all that is needed to kill a hunchback with 10 rear armor (10 armor + 32 structure)

I quite like the sensor design, it means if your whole team is focusing on what is in front of you you can get punished by a lone harasser, I conciser this to be a good thing because it opens up more tactics but can understand why some people find it irritating. also if you think a summoner doing it is silly an Atlas D-DC can do exactly the same thing, but with added ECM and more alpha strike potential

How so? Sound? Your own mech would deafen you if you could hear him.

360 vision isn't feasible (though it existed in BT).

Radar etc? Welcome to the 31st Century!

Nukes, centuries of war, etc have destroyed a lot of the technological gains, to the point that some mechs are only produced in barely running automated factories. In MWO you can own dozens of mechs, in BT the Locust numbered in the thousands and was the most common mech in the Inner Sphere. The vast majority of battles and even many planetary invasions only involved massive conventional armies. The books etc generally focus on mechs because, well because that's what we are here for!

Lastly, getting flanked is often a death sentence. It's part of the game, so that lighter mechs are useful. In TT, bigger almost always won. Join a unit, get TeamSpeak and hop on to the Comstar or NGNG servers and learn from other players. Most Houses have open nights where any one can join in!

Ok, so i hear the gargoyle might be coming. In MW2 i remember seeing them coming and think "What is that.. oh nope nope nope" as they often had a head laser and an AC20 on one arm. Even when i took off both side torsos/arms i still had to leg them before i could run far away enough to kill it because it was fast and had a head laser. What is my point you may ask?

Clan standard 400 engine and excessive center armour was a stock loadout IIRC. Will it have these? (because at least 1 clan mech needs these in order to be scary) anyone know?

The gargoyle will come with whatever variants PGI chooses. At least 3 that are somehow different and fit the timeline.

How does buying MC work if your bank doesn't use USD as a standard? Does it automatically convert?

The price is on Dollars and with the various payment options I used the bank in question always converts your currency to dollars according to its own version of a fair conversion rate. I try not to give a few percent to paypal whenever I can and prefer iDeal but this depends on your payment options.

PGI has already declaired the varients and hardpoints of the wave 2 mechs including the Gargoyle on this page http://www.mwomercs.com/wavetwo
looking them over it will be able to mount an AC20 in the arms. No varient has a hardpoint in the head however 2 of the announced varients have center torso energy weapons.
it does come with a fixed (cannot be removed) Clan XL400 engine, meaning it will be the same speed as the Clan heavy mechs, with the same max armor as the Victor or Awesome.

hopfully the answer to this is short enough: of the Mad Dog, Summoner, and Timber Wolf, which is best suited to a primary role of direct fire support at mid range or farther? or should I just wait for the hellbringer?

Pulse lasers, are they hit scan damage over time, or more like clan uac's with multiple fld hits?

Pulse lasers are exactly like Lasers, hitscan dot, just faster. The animation and sound are just cooler :)

I wonder if turrets reacts on UAV if enemy is in their range?
And also on manual lock?
How do turrets reacts if ECM enemy is in close range?

(for manual locks I have a feeling they do react)

They are not affected by ECM from what I can tell as far as targeting goes. They might suffer a reduction to lock time as far as tracking you but so far it appears to trigger the turrets if I have ECM or not.

Aren't they also supposed to have a max sensor range of 450m? Because I've been targeted by turrets as far away as 700m (900m if I run in to close then run away).

They can share friendly 'Mechs' targeting data, so if an enemy is targeting you, and if that enemy is close enough to their turrets to pass along your targeting info, the turrets can shoot at you.

How well does the game play on a laptop? Thinking of putting it on the parents laptop so I can play the game while they watch television when we go see them. That and I can show it to friends and get them interested maybe.
