Emperical evidence only here but Radar Deprivation does seem to help a lot so long as you are constantly moving in and out of cover. It's especially useful against LRMs or SSRMs. Probably the most helpful on lighter faster mechs which need every advantage they can get to protect against damage and they have the speed to make the best use of it. If poptarting was still the meta, this would certainly come in handy on those folks.

Short question:

Installing radar deprivation module on ECM light.

Is it noob or pro?

It helps. Speaking as a light mech specialist. I love my COM-2D with ECM. However, when spotted, target retention will keep you locked on for 3 full seconds. So having Radar Deprivation cuts into that. Allowing you to disappear even faster.

Think of it this way:

As a ninja, you can just do a backflip through the ceiling and disappear. Without the need for a smoke bomb. The smoke bomb does help though, right?

In this case, ECM is your backflip, and Radar dep is your smoke bomb.

People think of radar derp as saving you from lrms - As a light your ability to appear from nowhere hitting someone from behind and whatnot on enemy mechs, radar derp will allow you do that so much sooner. Who's to say youve not been ppc'd, or your ecm has been critted..
Scenario 1: You shoot at enemy, he locks you as you run into cover, for the next 3 seconds he knows the direction your running thus able to likely anticipate your next movement. Poof youve been AC20'd right where your cored because he saw your paperdoll, gg.
Scenario 2: You shoot at enemy, he locks you as you run into cover, your instantly de-locked, he doesnt know your build, your health. So as you run out from another bit of cover to shoot him again, hes looking in another direction, he turns just intime to shoot you but he doesnt know where your cored and its a wild shot, he doesnt know where is damaged on your mech and you tank it easily on your left arm. Away you disapeer once more!

HURRAH FOR DERPrivation!!!

IS it possible to group players from different houses/clans together in a group for CW drops?

Example if I am in clan Ghost Bear can I make a CW group with a friend who is in in Jade Falcon?

I understand not grouping IS and Clans together but several CW matches I have played involve multiple clans/houses on one team.

Would like to know the answer before making a mistake that will take a week to fix!

Thanks

As a 'group'? No.

Can you attack the same planet? Yes. You can attack the same planet as a Clan member alongside a friend who is in a different Clan against the IS Houses.

You can also attack (or defend in either case) as an IS House alongside another House against the Clans.

I'm sorry but this is the extent you have available.

It will be interesting if the game allows alliances between factions, as you could then produce combined attacks.

so just to further elaberate on Konivings answer

in CW groups can only be of one faction, however as any Clanner or any IS player can join a Clan vs IS fight there is nothing stopping you both attacking or defending the same planet, if for example there are 8 players in the queue to defend a planet and you and your friend join there is a pretty good chance you will end up in the same match, if you and your Friend both join the queue as part of a 6 man team (or 7&5, 8&4 9&3, 10&2, 11&1)there is a very good chance you will end up in the same match

I trained my skill points to max out the cooldown on Inner Sphere ER Large Lazers, but they don't seem to fire any faster. I went to 1/5 in range for Inner Sphere ER Large Lazers and the range (726m) remains unchanged.

I noticed my weapons aren't marked as Inner Sphere, they seem to be the base models. Where do I buy Inner Sphere weapons?

Two things: One did you 'buy' and 'install' the modules you unlocked? The skill points "give you the knowledge of where to get the modules that give you the enhancements you want."

You still need the physical equipment to make it happen.

Secondly... "Large Laser" is Inner Sphere Large Laser.
"C-Large Laser" is Clan Large Laser.

Open your Mechlab.
Customize the mech.
Choose Modules.
Find the modules you unlocked. They must go under "Weapon" module slots or the 'generic' module slot that some mechs have.

Ooooh it's a module. I haven't played the game for around a year so I'm a bit lost on new stuff. I found and fitted the modules. Many thanks Koniving =D

Does the game save screenshots somewhere? I've made it via prntscr button but due to the fact I have two screens the output was black and the second part showed me desktop image. Maybe there is other way to find out my life damage record?

How can that this stupid game always manages to corrupt Objects.pak?

I am getting tired of having to repair my game alot of times.

All other games for example on Steam works flawlessy.

This is a very bad client.

Apparently didn't occur to you that it might be your PC that is having a problem with this particular client? "All other games" on Steam could mean all 4 of them. They could all be simple or older games for example.

Bottom line? More information, less assuming.

I just got XP and c-bills for "Counter ECM Locked Damage".

I've never seen this before. Anyone know what it is exactly?

I just installed BAP on this mech (CDA-3C), so I'm guessing that's somehow involved. Maybe for providing a target lock on an ECM-carrying mech, which then got damaged?

Unlike WoW, this game is free to play! You don't need to use your mc to buy mechs, but you may certainly do so. Also, you don't need to buy this game, it is free to download it.

Generally, there are some things that it is a good idea to spend MC on. They are: mech bays (you get 4 initially and more sometimes become available, but if you want more mechs in your garage, you will need to buy mech bays.), premium time (this lessens the time it takes grind the mechs.) This grind will make your mechs more effieceint killing machines. Hero mechs (These are special mechs that give you a bonus on your c-bill acquisition.) C-bills are the in game currency that you earn after every match. The vast majority of mechs and equipment are all available for c-bills, which is why hero mechs are sometimes a good idea. Note that the hero mechs are no better than any other mech. PGI (the game developers) have gone to great lengths to make sure that no one who spends real money has an unfair advantage over those who do not spend money.

MWO is completely f2p. You needn't spend any real money on it to play and get all your fun! But, as you have spent money...
1. No
2. Best investment for your MCs is premium time as it increases in-game earnings significantly, making the grind a lot easier but it is not like a WoW subscription.
3. Mech bays cost MC and, as you need 3 mechs to get all the skills, you can quickly run out; however, you can get mech bays by participating in CW - there are lot of threads on this forum about that! Hero and Champion mechs cost MC - heroes have a C-bill boost, champions have an exp boost. The other good use for MCs is to get a Mastery Bundle (3 mechs, 3 mechbays, premium time and some free cockpit vanity items) normally works out at a 50% saving on buying the same things separately, again, lots of advice in this forum on which to get.

Good luck and welcome to MWO
