A. You can set your weapon groups in the 'MechLab:
1. Go to the 'MechLab.
2. Click "Weapon Groups".
3. Use your mouse to assign weapons to selected weapon groups.
4. Click "Save".
The only disadvantage is that you can not select the firing mode.

B. Or you can select your weapon groups in the game:
I suggest doing it in the training grounds rather than during the combat drop.

2) Skillnodes get unlocked buy buying SPs for them. After that, you can activate and deactivate them for free.
3) you can have 91 nodes active at the same time. You can unlock all, but that is not advisable
4) GXP can buy SP for any mech you want at the same cost as XP (800xp/45k CBills per node) use these only if no other XP are available

5) is it recommended to convert HXP into regular mechs XP and after that into SP or directly HXP - SP ?
6) is it eliting/mastering a mech still a thing ? or its not anymore in the game ?

You should use things in this order:
1. HSP if any
2. SP if any, unless you're saving it for a later mech.
At this point, you've spend no cbills nor xp for any skills.
3. HXP + cbills
4. Mech XP + cbills
5. GXP + cbills
You should have received enough HSP to skill up your mechs to the same level of progression they had before. If you had the Master slot unlocked, you would have 91 HSP available to you now.
Other important differences touched on above that I want to elaborate on.
1. Each mech has a separate skill tree. Copies of the same variant no longer share the same skill tree, so you have to unlock nodes separately. If you had duplicates before, you should have gotten a duplicate amount of HSP for those mechs.
2. You no longer have to buy 3 different variants in order to skill a mech fully.
3. Modules no longer exist. You will find the module properties spread out as skills in the new tree, especially Sensors.
For specific questions, please don't hesitate to ask! Also, there's a new mech loadout and skill tree loadout export string in the mechlab you can use to share builds or save.

you are sir, a legend.
Its not common to see such perfect answer on gaming forums nowadays.
Thank you vm.
I tried today Ilya Muromets and 1x AC jagermech so far. On both I indeed had 91x HSP, so no big deal here.
My next question is: On hero mechs we still have +30% Cbills, on Champion mech i see +30% XP. But is this +XP rly necessary here in 2021 ? ..........
nevertheless, i found that online page skilltree calculator which made the job perfectly for me. Some clicks and vuala, you have the build.
i also used that skilltree calc for both above listed mechs (both IS/heavy). And on one it adds A LOT armor, while on other not so much.
Why is that ? because of different mech structure ?
And last question, rotary weapons are new to me. I guess it shoots 3 rapid shots ? Is it better then UAC for burst ?
Thx.
PS: looks like Im lucky. Back after 5 yrs, and since today, there is -50% for cbills mechs. YAY. Shoping time new toys.....

Unfortunately, neither the Jagermech nor Cataphract are the beasts today they used to be. The Jagermech is serviceable. I've played mine recently. But Cataphracts suffer from mostly low weapon mounts.
You'll notice in the UI that you can expand the little info card for each mech by clicking the corner icon on it. This will list quirks, among other things. Cataphracts have been buffed with extra free points of armor to make them tankier. Even if you drop all armor points to 0, you'll still have this quirked amount. It might be as high as 20 extra points for the CT if I remember correctly.
Currently, some of the armor points for the Jagermech's arms have been moved to the torso. Same with the Jenner. Though it's a change I hope they will revert and simply add armor quirks to those mechs instead. I think they shifted the points before they started implementing armor quirks (but after we got structure quirks) and before we had the new skill tree. There was a third IS mech they did this to, but I forget what it was.
RACs are essentially big machine guns. Hold down the fire button through a ramp-up delay time, then they will continuously fire. They don't do 2 and 5 points of damage per shot (that would be insane) but they can deal a lot of damage very quickly. They will also build up heat fast and if you fire for too long, there is a jam bar that fills up the longer you fire and they will jam.
For the new weapons since you left, please check out the Civil War Patch Notes: https://mwomercs.com...tch-notes/1859. This patch that just released will have the new weapon values, but list and mechanics are in the Civil War notes.
MWO was in maintenance mode for the last two years, but PGI is working to revive it somewhat. The weapon changes in this patch were taken from the community. PGI just hired a new level designer who is working on tweaking the existing maps so we should see some improvements there in the upcoming months. I wouldn't expect any new features at this time, but at least they're paying attention to it again and sounds like they are really fine with letting the community drive changes now.

Forgot to answer this part.
Yes, 30% Cbills
Yes 30% XP but honestly, I never thought Champion mechs were worth the MC for the XP gain before. If you didn't have any SP or GXP from being an old player, you would need to unlock skill nodes with mech XP which would be easier if you had a Champion mech, but again, once you've maxed out your skills, there's nothing else to do with it. Unless you pay MC to convert MXP to GXP and use it on a different mech, but honestly, it's better to go to the store and buy Skill Points since they now offer that. They are also one of the possible rewards in events which happen pretty regularly. In fact, new this year is a free mech event each month. This month is the Mad Cat Mk II which is about as meta as you can get.

Ilya Muromets can carry 3LB10, which is a ton of dps for a heavy mech.
CTF-3D gets 30% reduced jam chance of ultra autocannons, which makes UAC20+UAC10 a satisfying combination to play.

Well back in 2016 I was tier 2, now I see Im tier 5, probably due to 5 yrs inactivity ? Im not aiming high , probably around 3 again.
I was running casual builds for fun, not liked meta at all.
Last Q: back in 2016 there was a "loyality" mechs. i dont remember it quite frankly, but it was like, if you purchased something for last 6-9 months, you get some mechs (L). I see in garage cicada + wolverine, that has +30% cbills and they are not hero/champions. is this still a thing ?

This was last year's reward model: https://mwomercs.com...ewards-program/
I suspect that this year's reward program may do something about the Booster Packs (Stryker and whatever follows it) but that's speculation from my side.
