Okay, so. First thing's first. One shot camo. It is a one use, only for that mech lost if you change camo option. Also, dirt cheap comparatively.

Second, there are basic drab colours you can get with Cbills, but any colours you unlock are unlocked for all time, for all mechs.

OK thanks .. so let me get this straight .. camo patterns are bought for a specific chassis and can only be used one that specific chassis. I can buy a color (no pattern just a color) and I can apply this to both of my chassis ? .. that is actually all I want .. I like the basic 'pattern' .. just not the yellow Posted Image

Btw .. how do I gat the basic colors (sans yellow) with c-bills .. I only see a MC option there.

correct

tge basic colours are all named Basic something. theres a blue, red, orange, purple and the green everyone has by default.

I forgot the gray is one of the cheap MC ones, not C-Bill.

Keep in mind that the monthly challenges often come with colour unlocks. This month's Atlas comes with blue, red and a light beige.

Thanks Aiden, looks like I meat already most of the requirements ... so I will have another color to use soon :) and a few more gadgets ... I hope to make all the requirements for the Atlas as well ... not really my style of Mech .. but a Mech built to Kerensky's standards is iconic in itself !!

Just me again ... trying to wrap my head around these events. I see that I met a few of these challenges .. but for the Atlas it says 150 of 200 ... but I don't see what the criteria is and how I can get the other 50 (something) ?

you can earn up to another 150 lootbags in Phase 2 of the event. Note that these are rewarded for damage done (100/bag), not Matchscore like in Phase 1.

I see ... and thanks for the answer, but I still would like to find out where the actual criteria are that spec out what I have to do to earn the remaining 50 (points?) to get that Atlas :)

Main event page - https://mwomercs.com...july-free-mech/
Loot Bag Redemption page - https://mwomercs.com...s?t=202107beach

If you have finished Phase 1, that worth a total of 150 max loot bags, then all you have to do is earn 50 more in Phase 2 which just started today.

In the Mechlab on the mech of your choice, even a mech from the Store...

Yes in the Camo section. You aren't billed anything until you save the selection. Keep in mind there are different tiers of prices.

One-Shot Camo: Apply to just one mech and stays on unless you change it. Then you'd have to buy it again if you want to use it again. However, you are free to change the colors within that pattern as often as you'd like!

Permanent Camo: Buy once to permanently own for all mechs current and future of that particular CHASSIS, I.E., Centurion, Timberwolf, etc. Costs 10x as much as One-Shot so buying One-Shot is more cost effective unless you love repainting your mechs a ton. Again, you can change the colors at any time.

Different patterns have different costs. The Faction patterns are the most expensive I believe.
Hero mechs always have a custom pattern that you can change to one of the other patterns, but you always have the Hero pattern available to change back to.

Colors: These are permanent unlocks. Once you buy one, you can use it on any mech, current or future, no limits.
There are 5 other "basic" cbill colors. There are some colors that are 500 MC and some that are 1000 MC. The more expensive ones are usually the brightest or more colorful within a series, but the cheaper ones are in-between, color-wise. It's probably advisable to pick the next color over if you land one one of the 1000 MC colors, unless there is a sale. Then it's a good time to pick them up.

Great explanation TheCaptainJZ, that lays it out right there.
Tying on to that, if I have a specific chassis and gained plenty XP on that will these XP also apply (or carry over) if I buy (with C-Bills) another variant of that same chassis type or will the new variant be treated like another chassis, iaw will I have to build up XP (not GXP) all over again?

We've all been there. Everyone has to start at the beginning, no matter who they are.

XP are tied to one particular mech. Even if you would by another mech of the same chassis and the same variant, they would not share XP. XP can only be shared via GXP and the conversion of XP to GXP is not worth it most of the time.

If I play in a group with a lower tier player and they set up the group -- Does the matchmaker place us in matches based on his tier, or does it place you based on the highest tier player in the group?

If you are tier 1 and pull a tier 5 beginner into a tier 1 level match, they might get wrecked quickly and NOT have fun. Been there.

Theres actually no real information about how it calculates group skill rating. A simple average of all members seems most likely by far, but it could theoretically be weighted or a maximum or minimum as well. PGI has never explained it.
