Also ended up killing a friendly Yen Lo-Wang once, through sheer speed. I was running like a bat outta hell from enemy fire on Frozen City. Take a sharp turn around a building, when this shape just appears in front of me. Before I know what's happening, I run right into it, see an explosion, and get the TK alert, and just keeps running. Apparently my buddy Yen Lo also ran for cover, with a critical Core, and I barreled right through him. He didn't even have time to realise what happened, and we both had a good laugh over it

He was firing on the same enemy and when the enemy moved backwards, that put me in between him and [redacted]. I could understand it if he only hit me the first time the enemy mech moved, but the enemy moved back again and again and [redacted] hit me again and again. He did it enough to burn through my Heavy mech's armor. [redacted] then states, in open chat, that he kills anyone around him so he doesn't get hit by friendly fire. The only way I could have shot him would have been if I had rear facing guns.
This is why we need to be able to Block players, so you never have to play on the same team as them.

*note: I have sometimes face hugged but never complain that I got damaged or killed by my team mates while doing it. It is the price you pay.

That said, when an enemy dies, especially when you've been watching them take a lot of incoming LRM, it's always smart to get clear of the wreckage ASAP, as a few more salvos may be incoming.

It was River City Night, so we had the night vision on and we got involved in a brawl. I was unloading on a hunchback and lost sight of him for a second, I eventually (thought) I'd found him again and started giving it all I had.
*Indiandream has killed Karstark*
Ooops.
Well that was a long time ago and needless to say it taught me a very important lesson about target identification.

A member of our team in a Highlander (who I am apparently not allowed to "name and shame,) started the match out by intentionally shooting several of our team members in the back.
As we began to engage the enemy, he continued shooting his own team. (This was not accidental: I was watching him do it, moving from one teammate to another.)
It was obvious that we had no hope of winning if he continued shooting the vulnerable back torsos of everyone, so I took him out and got my first "Team Kill" as a result.
I know it's no big deal, but I'd personally rather have had no team kills on my stats.
I would love if there was some way to vote to kick a pilot off the team, so he's left on his own with both teams able to retaliate with no consequences.

That wasn't on River City was it? Because there was a guy pulling that same deal in a match I was in. I didn't see the incident myself, but one of the guys in my 4 man copped it pretty bad.

Please do not perform self-justice in such a case. Even if it costs you one match, it is better to simply report it to support. Let that GMs handle it, instead of soaking your own hands in digital cooling fluids.

Then he spent most of the match doing just that.
Agreed, a "vote to boot" option would be really nice.

Get reported enough, and they probably will. I probably would not mind to be honest. Did you at least take the time to tell everyone you were a premade? If you are not all the same faction it is literally impossible to tell.
I admit, not being able to tell who is a premade when dropping is problematic. Turning the match into 11v12, plus all the time it takes to find and kill said commander probably is not the option.
To swing more directly onto topic though, I have no problem with accidental teamkilling. We've all accidently clipped the crit rear CT light buzzing around or walked in a friendly line of fire once or twice. If you haven't, you probably will eventually.
Those that do it on purpose though really do skew games in a terrible fashion. Identifying and stopping a teamkiller takes time, armor and in the worst cases, ammo. It literally removes a lance from play while they 'get it together' so to speak. Even in the best cases, it will skew it to 10 v 12, which are not good odds. Those are the sort of things I hope people keep in mind when they see intentional teamkilling, or even 'legging' as someone mentioned. It is well worth a report.
A game on Alpine recently comes to mind. There was a bit more chatter than usual before the match start, a few jokes here and there. The match starts and besides the occasional scout call the only conversation is between one specific lance. They end up strolling late into the battle, probably damaged, down two lance members (The TKer and their friend). It was close enough that I wonder if we would have lost if we had only been fighting the enemy team. The final icing on the cake was that we could not just 'let it go' because as people died before they left they needed to be either reminded of the name or be told the story again outright.
I suppose it is a good sign that people were asking though.
the most rediculous 'friendly fire' incident I've seen is a couple of Liao players opening up on me (Steiner) just because of their RPed grudge. At least wait for the CW...
