Groups are in - as in you can group up with a bunch of other people and launch together. It's still being refined, but it's there.

Okay, this is nice.. but please be careful here. It's not fair to people who just pug having to go against grouped up people.

make it 2-4 people tops.

a 4850 is above the min spec unless they are requiring you to have a dx11 compatable card for a game with dx9 support

MechWarrior Online Minimum System Spec:

GPU:
GeForce 8800GT
Radeon HD 5600/5700

Eh it says Radeon 5600 HD is minimum hows a 4850 above minimum?

Also, can my card run it? lol

Honestly, if you want to be fairly certain you can run this game...and this is NOT a plug for another game but go download world of tanks. I say this because it won't cost you a dime and if you can run it through 5-6 different maps on different settings you'll have a good idea because it can be a demanding game graphics wise. Some maps my 2gb nvidia 560 will drop to below 20fps so it should be a good test.

Again just reccomending it as a possible way to test game performance.

You say Vista is the minimum OS for this game? I'm running XP SP3 right now for closed beta, does that mean I won't be able to run the game once it's launched or is this a mistake in the specs?

It had been updated to reflect compatibility with Windows XP SP3 and above.

That's definitely true, I guess I just am experiencing flashbacks to another Battletech game, from the '90s called Multi-Player Battletech: Solaris. We spent, quite literally, years waiting for the strategic shell to be released, only to have the game go on 'indefinite suspension'. It later was turned into MPBT: 3025 when the company that made it was bought by EA, but it was canned before it ever got out of Open Beta.

I trust this game will have a much better fate, but I still felt that pang of disappointment when I read that.

Hai, I still have different versions of the rules for the SSW we had each weekend. I enjoyed them even more once I learned to delegate the organization work out to others, allowing me to participate in the battles themselves :P

Hmmm ok when I read it it didn't have that yet so probably posted once they were updating. I'm using a Geforce GTX 460 (1 gig) card, I have no idea if that meets the minimum specs or not. I would imagine it does as I can play Skyrim on max settings and my system doesn't even blink at it.

It works fine

Same here on my QuadCore Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, 2400 MHz, with 8 gig of ram and the aforementioned video card and don't have any trouble so I'm not sweating this to much. My system should fall low-midrange I think.

world of tanks uses 1 core, you can't compare the games.

Sure you can, if I can run a fairly resource intensive game on my rig with one core I should be able to run MWO that will utilize multiple cores and better distribute the work load.

Of course I also run Crysis 2 just fine so in my case the point is probably moot.

Tarl, you just made me nostalgia like nobody's business. Those were some great times. Thank you for all that hard work. I'm sure you got tons of well-deserved praise at the time, but enough cannot be said for the contributions you, and people like you made to that community.

Because its a more powerful card, being an X8XX series (high end) compared to an X6XX series (low end). A 5870 is better than a 4870, a 5770 is better too, slightly, but a 4890 is better than a 5770. The main thing is that a 4XXX does not have dx11 support, so if you had a 4890 you would be better off using it over anything up to a 58XX series, unless you really needed dx11 support, in which case any 5XXX would be better than nothing. I cant recall off hand what a 4850 would be comparable too, but it would probably be around a 5730

No way are they going to limit people playing together. If all you do is pug, expect to have drops where you destroyed by a group in vent.

Should the recommended specs list DX9 as recommended, rather than DX11? The Q&A lists DirectX11 as being supported, will that not be supported after all?

No thank you, Ghost Bear. I prefer more flexibility in the grouping than less.

In World of Tanks people in groups get paired in the matchmaker against PUGs all the time. And you know what? The PUGs still win frequently. I think what happens is that people in groups tend to stick together and don't follow the pack, so they're off doing their own thing while the PUGs stick together since they don't have any strategy, and then plow through to the base.
