They don't mind heavies with these builds because they don't have as much armor as assaults and not enough tonnage to have many extra weapons.

Unless it had some other staggering drawback, like being twice as large as an Awesome or as slow as a legged Atlas, it would be a game-breaker. Nothing could stand before that firepower.

Actually, I want a dual UAC/20 assault mech. And a dual UAC/20 Hunchback. http://www.sara.net...i/Hunchback_IIC
(Yes, the IIC Hunch has weak armor, is slow, clan-tech and all that... But it has 2 UAC/20s!! That is enough for me, lol)

Except it would have assault armor and lasers or PPC's as well. So yes, it would be worse. Terrifyingly worse in fact.

As it should be. We have the ability to have a Mech with 2 PPC and 2 Gauss right now according to Canon.

I think it's a necessary consequence of the level of mech customization that we currently have. It's a pity, as I'd love to have a Mauler in the hangar someday, but that mech would be able to tote a scary alpha with the current build system. Perhaps in the future weapon slots will be limited by size as well as type--for example the Mauler would be able to mount AC/2s & 5s but not 10s or 20s, to pull some numbers out of the air.

Yes, we do.
But balance is a delicate ecosystem. I'm not sure PGI wants to insert an apex predator to dominate the food chain just yet.
