I hate to be a Debbie Downer here, and perhaps it's just an oversight as PGI gets used to clear communication, but the marker to clarify which content was only available to Phoenix purchasers is conspicuously absent from the Flame pattern. This is what's got some people upset since earlier it was touted as ~exclusive~ on the Phoenix promotional page.
Under other circumstances I'd imagine people would brush this off, but PGI keeps making hilarious missteps and then fails to seize an opportunity to *** this sort of confusion in the bud; it would be really easy to add an asterisk or post a clarification, before people start to remember all the other slip-ups.
That's really what any discontent over this is all about: It's seen as just one more misstep, much like the outcry over third person wasn't about an actual new camera view so much as it was about the latest in a series of sudden (and unexplained) backtracks.
It's dumb and should be trivial, but I can see why people would be confused and why they'd be frustrated.
The exclusive patterns they were referring to were the paint and cammo patterns on the Exclusive Hero mechs that come with the PP. It had nothing to do with the flame pattern. Which BTW did not even come into the equation untill long after the PP went on sale. It was a bonus. Are you people really so dense. They give you something for free, to say thank you for buying our stuff and you complain that they are going to have the nerve to SELL this item to other people? Which is that they had obviously originally planed on doing in the first place. The people complaining about this prove that the two most abundant substances in the universe really are hydrogen and stupidity. On a side note why does it feel like myself and about 5 other people on these forums are the only people that can rub two brain cells together and do something other than find a reason to complain about things that don't even effing matter? /rant
flame on.

Ready For Internal Test
- Skirmish Mode (Death-match and Team Death-match
So in other words months of time, spent thinking up a new game-mode and then, Let's take out the base caps from Assault and rename it "Skirmish"
Deathmatch seems moderately interesting but I foresee a cluster-**** inbound, and Team Death-Match is nothing new, its as I said, Assault without caps.
Why not a multiple drop, depleting tickets mode?

Reading Comprehension. Look at the picture closely. Now I know that you need it to be circled in red, and therefore you can only read "Exclusive", but bear with me here.
If you go on and read the whole textbox below it, which is a staggering 25 words, it specifically mentions the 'Flame' Pattern. This being under a title that says "EXCLUSIVE PHOENIX PATTERN" would lead one to believe that the 'Flame' Pattern is exclusive to the Phoenix Pack. Furthermore, you can only apply it to the standard mechs included in the pack, not the actual "Phoenix" mechs with all the bonuses.
Thank you.

Takes them five months to clarify something in an official statement that people are concerned about. If they even bother.

Now about what's coming in October I'm willing to go out on a limb here.

Do they exclude their community managers from reading the week's status reports? Are they not privy to internal state-of-the-game meetings?

Do you really think all of the Volunteer moderators that are censoring everything go to those meetings?

This. It's much like the "new mechs don't slow development of community warfare" thing, different people have different jobs. And hell, the volunteer mods aren't even based at PGI - they're just random masochistic forumdwellers.

You don't honestly think they would have put man hours into making an awesome camo pattern that they were only going to give away for free to an exclusive minority of players? You had to know that people were going to get to pay money for a flame pattern eventually. That's their whole business model!
Maybe we'll exclusively get it a week early than other people can pay for it, but we'll still be the only ones with phoenix mechs to put 'em on.

They put man hours into the geometry and camo of the Phoenix variations of the mechs, so..
