It is pretty impressive that, considering third person is default, you've only ever seen it used once. No new players? Third person is so bad they can't wait to get out of it? Something else?
elo? I never see 3pv drones either, maaaaybe once a day. Of course, I never see new players either.

Start a dummy account, I'm sure you'll see lots.

Just the other day I saw a livestreamer using 3PV literally to cheat in exactly the way we all complained people would. Not in combat or while maneuvering, but while under cover to reconnoiter without putting himself in harm's way. I still find it hard to believe that they felt it was worth spending any time on, rather than devoting those resources to making sure UI2.0 and CW were ready by launch day. It just boggles my mind.

The 3PV drones can be shot, right? So we start shooting them.
That, and maybe a judicous legging to a PUG that doesn't get the message that cheaters suck.

The 3PV drones cannot be shot down. They even removed the weapon collision (you used to be able to burn them with lasers, but I have to wonder if people started using them as an indestructible missile shield).

PGI/Bryan, someone, can we get some idea of where 2.0 and CW phase 1 are this week?

Public Testing is separate from regular games: it's a different server. You have to download and install additional MWO-software to play on the "public testing"-server.

I found the page on this homepage a few days ago and now I can't re-find it. Dammit.

Where are DX11 and UI2.0 tests? Another broken promise? I'm not even surprised, doe.

They already promised them to us back in September. That's twice we haven't gotten them.

They did not want to write another update in Nov so they can just rename this one it it is still current.

Nov Update: UI2 and DX11 coming to PT this month!

Well, for one they rewrote the entire netcode from client-side to server-authoritative (a.k.a. Host State Rewind).
They introduced five new maps and three variants of old maps, along with 14 new 'mechs.
They introduced a new game mode, modules, a new camo and paint system, several performance improvements, and messed around with weapon balance a lot.

But mainly the rewriting the entire game engine bit. That probably took way, way longer than they expected (in no small part because several problems that looked to be in the MWO code - HUD bugs, I'm looking at you - turned out to be deeply buried in the CryEngine code).

Edit: Oh, I forgot: DX11 - the game started out as DX9, and we had a few false starts with DX11 before they decided to upgrade to a later version of CryEngine (which they then rewrote to server-authoritative). I guess they had to do all the DX11 stuff again after that, because we haven't seen a DX11 client again until now.

So how much were they lying when saying they were giving deadlines earlier? They haven't even finished the design and designers have[redacted] all to do with netcode or any code.

Under other circumstances I'd imagine people would brush this off, but PGI keeps making hilarious missteps and then fails to seize an opportunity to *** this sort of confusion in the bud; it would be really easy to add an asterisk or post a clarification, before people start to remember all the other slip-ups.

Nowadays the correct term is [redacted] this sort of confusion in the bud. Come on! Get with the times already, you bigot.

If you have the public test application and you patch it up, it clearly has UI2.0 already on the public test server as the login screens are all different with the blue theme that UI2.0 is using, we just can't login to it yet. We just need to wait for PGI to flip the switch to allow logins.

Sorry BF, not waiting for them to flip a switch. They need to finish actually programming it. The PT showed an early Alpha version is the current state.

We should be seeing the following features on PT:

UI 2.0 MechLab
DX 11 + Engine Update
UI 2.0 Pilot Lab (possible)

Only UI 2.0 MechLab made it on the PT this month.
With lots of luck they might be able to release UI 2.0 before the year ends.
The "Full CW within 6 Months" from the Release Event, is already obsolete i would say, as it was based on the assumption that they would have UI 2.0 released by end of November and Phase 1 a month after it.

Yeah mate, that was posted before I actually saw it. After the amount of time they've been talking about how everything hinges on UI2.0 etc etc I was disappointed to find out how far they had not gotten with it B) Honestly with all those mockups they showed us months ago etc I thought they would have been much further along.

Does the engine update and DX11 mean better or worse performance on or system. I am really concerned that I will have worse performance and that would really suck right now.

In theory when you have a DX11 capable system, the performance should be better.

Same here. It's baffling to me, and I just can't come up with an explanation. Multiple false starts that ended in starting from scratch? Some as-yet unannounced body of features? As you point out, they've explicitly said that CW is so dependent on UI2 that they couldn't release it without releasing UI2 first, so surely they can't be spending so much time on CW that it's holding up the UI.
