Deathmatch Is Coming

With the next game mode "Skirmish" on the horizon what are you thoughts or Concerns?


I thought it was interesting how he said "deathmatch and team deathmatch". This seems to indicate that we'll be getting some sort of FFA or 1v1 matches along with the regular team deathmatch.

I do have plenty of concerns that I hope are addressed if this comes out prior to CW.

1. Would an FFA or 1v1 count toward your Elo? Or would they just be for fun?

2. What sort of mechanisms will you have in place that prevents stalemates?

3. What sort of mechanisms will you have in place that prevents the last guy from running around for 10 minutes to punish the "cheese builds", or whatever?

4. What will happen to Assault mode?

5. Will Skirmish devolve into an assault/heavy sniper snoozefest? I can see it turning into a 1-dimensional game-mode where you just deathball from a super defensible ridge and out-wait your opponent.

Thank goodness...so tired of idiots crying about capping when it is a win condition. I do know I will avoid that game mode like the plague though.

I will still believe Conquest is the best game mode even when/if these deathmatch modes come in.

Because fighting is hard. But I know wasd must be hard for some to be so proud of capping :D

All I can say is... there will be QQ on both sides.

It is the natural course of action.

This won't stop me from selecting ANY in game mode option.

Get bored playing one mode non stop.

Really? You needed an edit to think you said something clever? You must be an ***** to infer that I don't have skill so I am "proud" of capping.

It is a WIN CONDITION of two of the game we have. When it occurs I don't cry like the majority of the vocal minority does.

I'd love to see a FFA game mode. It'd have to be one that doesn't fall under "any" though. Regular deathmatch could be in "Any" of course, though I'm strongly suspicious of how it'll be implemented to not suck.

with the current game mechanics, capping is a win option, not a condition as the start up screens indicate. Two conditions means both details need to be satisfied to constitute a win. An option means one or another detail must be met for a win to be secured (the current assault mode).

Relook your grammar education.

I did the edit for a nicer version of what I said. But yes, running left when you see everyone going right is a perfectly good way to avoid fighting. I know spending all that time and money building the perfect mech to cap is brutal.

I'm assuming the "Death Match" is a Free for All Mode. The Team Death Match will be a very welcome addition, too.

Yeah. Now everyones gonna complain "I can't cap, come die like a man" as they have to wait 15 minutes for match end.

From day one I've maintained this. Its much less obnoxious to win or lose a match fast and drop again immediately than it is to have matches regularly drag on for 15 minutes.

Especially on the Bigger maps hiding is soooo easy.
